  1. no, but I did have to engage the front axle disconnect and pull it in 4wd...stupid damn tires and ghey trailer. you take a look at the trackbar mount I dropped off for you to use as a template?
  2. take a look at the tags on the differentials. there should be one on each axle. the easiest one is on the front axle. if you're looking at the front of the front differential, the tag is on the left hand side of the diff, between two bolts. the numbers are located near the top bolt holding the tag in and are punched in sideways. you may need to scrape them off...
  3. very nice! I have to ask though...why are you keeping the old proportioning valve? they hardly ever work properly and are not fun to bleed (next to impossible in my experience)
  4. a dana 44 rear axle will run around $250 to $600 depending on where you are, and what kind of shape it is in (plus what gears are in it) I payed $300 for one with 4.10 gears, but have gotten several comanches complete with dana 44 rears for the price of $250 or less. now since you're locking it, you may as well think about new gears too...this will save you money in the long run. swapping a dana 44 from a comanche into a comanche in requires simply getting new ubolts and rebuilding the brakes, then swapping it in. you will also probably have to get your driveshaft shortened, though if you lift it around 4" this may not be necessary. you can put a cherokee dana 44 in it too, and it's the same process except that you need to cut off the old spring perches and weld new ones on in the correct width and SUA. if you want free 5.5" to 6" of lift in the rear, now is the time to SOA the rear end (spring over axle).
  5. um. DON'T buy a locker for the dana 35...buy one for a dana 44 and upgrade to a dana 44 before going with a rear locker. you will regret having spent $400 on an axle that's only worth $50 NO MATTER WHAT condition it's in.
  6. dana 35 rear dana 30 front
  7. nice find
  8. Thanks. It runs as well as the 3800, but is nowhere near as fast (though it seems to break less  ). A buddy did some programming on it today with his computer and I think a jet chip he had laying around, so hopefully we've removed the rev limiter and poked a few horse. gonna test it this weekend and see how i like it, probably gonna go back to stock programming but *shrug* I also swapped out the rear shocks for a brand new set. unfortunately they are shorter rather than longer (which is what I need) but at least they will keep it riding smoother down the road. also rebuilt the rear brakes with new hardware and wheel cylinders but just sanded the pads (they're half there) and the drums still look new. and swapped in the H.O. fuel pump and sending unit from geonovast's 91 H.O. MJ. didn't bother with pics, because some people just don't want to see them.
  9. I'm going out and working on the heep...you know, something worthwhile (hey what do you expect from a wisconsinite)
  10. if one or both of your outer vent tubes fell off, the warm air would tend to blow from where they connect to the HVAC more than through the center vents, because there is less restriction down there. if that's the case, perhaps you're getting hot air out of one side because of vacuum pressure differing side to side or something like that. just make sure everything is connected properly, I'd think that should fix it...
  11. the gm 4.3 is a wasted swap and not compatible with jeep transmissions...thus increasing the shear amount of work you need to do. the gm 3.4 liter is not a direct bolt-in, but it is the same block as the 2.8. you need to swap the oil pan (and I believe the timing cover as well) from the 2.8 liter to the 3.4 liter block, swap over the motor mounts, and exhaust manifolds. it is fuel injected, and the wiring is fairly simple. just get all engine bay wiring and computer from the camaro, and I could walk you through it. then you'd need a 45psi electric fuel pump to make it run right. I suggest going this direction. the other direction you can go with the 3.4 liter is to swap EVERYTHING from the 2.8 block over to the 3.4 liter, except for the intake manifolds, and get the aforementioned edelbrock intake and holley carb. this is more money than leaving the 3.4 liter fuel injected, but simpler if you don't like wiring. this is NOT an option (even though it is)....swapping EVERYTHING from the 2.8 to the 3.4 block then bolting it in. bad idea, you choke the power from the 3.4 just like the carb does on the 2.8, and net ZERO gain.
  12. Dirty and pingpong, this is probably something for you guys to answer... I'm thinking of going 1/4 elliptical on my 87 MJ at 6.5" of lift. I would like to know the pros and cons. the truck is used currently on and off road, though more on. this changes when the 3800 comes out to play in the summer. how would this handle on-road?
  13. yep, you're just fine. dana 30's have 4.11 gears, the MJ 44's have 4.09's at least mine does...works out great.

    Divorced MJ

So one of my comanches recently went through a "convertible stage" at it's end-life crisis ... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not FoundImage Not Found Image Not Found and of course the only way it could end was in divorce :rotf: ... Image Not Found Image Not Found lol. this is to be TNT's extended cab section to put 2dr doors on his MJ and allow the head room and leg room to ease his pain getting in with his extremely bad back
  15. SO, I got some better pics I have to make new mounting plates for it, they're too rusty to repair, and wire the lites up.
  16. lol. I love steel bumpers ... a tree got in my way the other day while driving down my small woods, sooo I took care of it with my front bumper :D

    My MJ

where you at? TNT on the club here is selling his xj with H.O. as a parts rig soon...he's located in southeast WI. xj is 94 H.O. auto idk miles but good motor trans wiring etc. he wants less than $1k probably less than that... and THANK YOU for not trashing that nice truck
  18. I was. not currently. Spanish major, 2.5years left of school (only because I can only take one required class per semester) so I'm trying to figure out a minor. criminal justice perhaps? I would like to apply my language skills to helping control (and eliminate) illegal immigration. I am sick of our tax dollars being wasted on those who ignore the system. but, I'm looking at going to school in a couple years again once I've made some money (in this economy, with as steady of a job as I have, I cannot afford to quit), paid off all of my bills. that way I can concentrate only on school and swim team (I have 6 more eligible semesters) and not work during the school year (BIG issues with priorities when I work and go to school...work always ends up taking number one).
  19. as aemsee said, you can find another intake and carb for it... edelbrock makes a 2bbl and 4bbl intake for it, I prefer the 4bbl as you can go with a 390cfm holley carb then and get quite a bit more power. then if you ever choose, you can swap your 2.8 block out directly for the 3.4 camaro blok and not have to do anything other than add an electric fuel pump capale of supplying roughly 7psi to the motor.
  20. what engine? you're talking about the 2.8 liter I'm betting. in that case, you're going to go through it's life living with no power. the emissions needs to be removed properly...crimping doesn't do it. re-routing and plugging the vac. hoses does
  21. just remember that xj and mj springs are NOT interchangeable.
  22. fact: a little extra effort = ALOT stronger exo. do it, it won't bite you in the @$$. don't do it, and it will. you will end up somehow rolling it and being mad you didn't heed the advice earlier. as for caging. I'm caging the INSIDE of my cab...becaue I don't like the look of an exo on a cab. however, I'm pretty much set on completely tubed fenders and bedsides, properly triangulated and going THROUGH the firewall and back of cab to connect, and triangulation will be VERY apparent.
  23. then go clayton. you're really limited in your choices, and the kit you're showing here is NOT one of them if you want it functional.
  24. if you're gonna spend the time to make it, spend the extra few hours to triangulate it and have it be something that functions. even brushing against trees, if it's not triangulated it can fold in half. otherwise if you don't, your ENTIRE idea is completely pointless. sorry for the blatant honesty.
  25. I like your idea pingpong.
