  1. 1000 miles and running like a champ! today I put the old school sony cd player in the 87, and put the driver and passenger door power wiring in. all that's left to get tunes in is take the knee board off, and install the crossover harness for the power windows locks and mirrors, and hook up a couple connectors. then put the window regs in. still not done with the interior wiring for the interior and cargo lighting though... OH! almost forgot...templated out my new rear bumper mounts using wade's from hucks4wd templates and expanding upon them. they're 24" long for the outer brackets. and I'll also have to convince him to make me 20" long the inner brackets. the center bolt from the factory mounting location is located 14" forward from the clevis mount. now chris at hucks will cut them out from 1/4" steel plate and drill them for me this week. they'll use 8 bolts on the frame on each side, and a brace between the inner and outer piece which will have two bolts each side. side pulls will be no problem.

  3. just got my halo 3 beat it 3 times already one on normal, twice on legendary. traded a set of new-ish 31x11.50 superswampers and black 15x8 cragars (rusty) for the entire 360 elite with upgrade and blueray :D i want to build a warthog...
  4. your proportioning valve has failed, or you removed it without realizing that there is now full braking power to the rear with half the weight of the front brakes. easily fixed.
  5. he's a welder at bucyrus building mining equipment...trained in all sorts of welding etc. so, if you're good like a welder it won't take long.
  6. me? not really. it's made from 1" solid stock aluminum. my brother made it for his mj.
  7. I thought Pat's (JeepcoMJ) bro did at one time... I remember a pic in the Introductions Thread... that be correct. the rack is just an aftermarket roof rack from an xj, no idea what brand. it's really just for the basket rack and kayaks, but we prop the canoe up between the kayaks down to the bed and tie it to the back rack. Image Not Found with the basket removed, we can fit two kayaks and the canoe between them like I said. -Pat
  8. lol. good luck. I usually end up getting as many as I can, then just put the wire connectors where they need it to be and call it good.
  9. disconnect it. there's a wiring connector on the light that you can pop the clip out with a flathead.
  10. Yup that did it, not 6mm, not 7mm, but a .25" socket fit perfect(6.5mm?) I guess the next step for me is removing the engine, it will make getting to the heater box/blower box easier. you don't need the heaterbox loose to take the dash out. I already have the dash out. The heaterbox is the next step, I will pull the engine to make getting to those studs easier. just checking, trying to help and didn't know what all you needed to do.

  14. go inside the engine bay and in the center of the bulkhead connector there is a 7mm bolt. a 7mm may not fit but it's roughly that size. take it loose then you can pull the whole thing apart. as for shelbyluvv's idea...NO don't just pull it off, it will break the bulkhead connector.
  15. unscrew the heater vent, and fiddle with it until you get it shoved back inside the dash. next get a 15mm long socket. unbolt the steering column then witha phillips head, uncrew the screws holding the defrost vent cover and remove it. use a 1/4" universal swivel and some long extensions to remove the 4 main screws holding the front of the dash in. go down to the bottom of the dash just above each kick panel, and loosen the two 15mm bolts there. pull the dash back, lift up, then go and pop all of the wiring clips off so you get the harness off the dash. remove dash. it's easiest to push it through the passenger side door. it's real light so *shrug*. -Pat
  16. I installed the door wiring, power mirrors (yay no more chrome...garmj your chrome mirrors are on the way :D), and power switches and lock solenoids. still need to put the power window motors in, but waiting until I pick up the tinted windows to put those in.

  18. nope, never taken all of them off. well, not without a torch...
  19. there's like 8 bolts holding it in, and you need to disconnect the tail light harness at the back. all bolts are above or through the frame rail and are really not fun to get at.
  20. I used to be. I'll tell you why I'm not anymore... There was a kid in high school who always needed help with his volkswagon. at the time, I was more or less the v-dub guy at school, so I constantly helped him out working on his car and we became "friends". Someone noted him spending time at my shop working on vehicles was kinda ghey, since they thought (for some odd reason) that I was ghey...all because I'm a swimmer. Somehow in his brain he decided I was a fag so he had to do something about it...so he slashed the roof on my vw after school one day, right as I was walking up to it. then I turned around and started walking to the liason officer's office and he followed, knife pulled. I made a quick-turn and beat the motherlovin piss out of the kid ended up breaking his nose, two ribs, and some bones in my right hand. end result, I didn't get in trouble, he did. Now I only help people out on trail runs or if they're friends of mine like TNT, 89eliminator, geonovast, my buddy aaron, and my buddy zach. I'll still help women out because for the most part they're clueless as to what the problem is...had one lady once freak out because there were no working interior lights in her car (told her to turn the knob :clapping: and it worked). but, basically I don't help average joe anymore because average joe doesn't help me.
  21. no to other vehicle specified project forum. comanche club means a club for COMANCHES. other vehicles go in the pub. no need to eff up the forum with other stuff like any number of other sites out there.
  22. I didn't know your sig could be taken offensively. when my sig said "the more I deal with women, the more I realize that all I want with them is procreation, the rest they can keep to themselves" or something along those lines, I had a few complaints. my simple answer, shut the freak up and keep your democratic emotionally challenged opinions to yourselves. (this was directed to them, not you). simple fact is, I will do what I want, when I want, and if someone has a problem with that, they can keep it to themselves. edit: and THAT is what being an American is all about.
  23. lol, I'm not trying to be a jerk or ride your @$$ on spelling mistakes. just making sure that when you do get the parts you get the right parts faster so the parts guys aren't scratching their heads about what a canard is (hell, they probably won't even know what a cardan is!) there are no straps in there. there's the main shell which is the coupling yoke...
  24. So the strap thing thats in the middle is called a double cardan shaft? i know it needs to be rebalanced, it bottomed out on the dang head pipe way to many times, looks like a weight got shaved off. It was just a temporary fix, i heard this squeeking one day and i thought it was the brakes. so i did those but it wasnt that so i tracked it down to the shaft, replaced the u joints and it went away. It was just to get me to cali and on a boat to hawaii who knows how much it would cost to ship a drive shaft! Now that I'm here i want to fix it, just gotta find a decent shop to rebalance it. Hawaii sux for autoshops no, i have no idea what you're talking about when you talk about a strap being in there...there is no strap. there is no such thing as a canard. the entire universal joint assembly is called a Double Cardan. this is an exploded view of a double cardan. you have a different yoke flange than pictured, but it's completely the same concept. if you have any sort of strap in there...it's wrong. it doesn't belong in there and chances are the entire thing should just be replaced. you'll be best off having someone from central states send you a shaft that's in good working order.
