  1. The side mount cup holders are on ebay. They are made in China but what isn't. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250744876625&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT I have had one of these for years and like it a lot better than the parking brake area mounted cup holder. It can get in the way for the passenger though.
  2. It sounds kind of like both of my 4.0's. :D Really though, I have seen worn water pumps where that the vane will make contact with the housing and make a rattle........ without leaking. :fs1:
  3. I have circled the plug to make it more visible. It's not focused really well but it's kind of difficult to get to. The top picture is the plug only and the bottom is with the cruise control plugged in. The cruise control wire has an orange sleeve on the end.
  4. Oh. I had never checked the part numbers. I never was a very good guesser.
  5. I ran into the same problem in the early '90's when I had an '87 Wrangler with a 4.2. Neither Wix nor Fram (I wouldn't buy a Fram now anyway) would fit. I had to buy a filter made by Purolator or go to the dealership. Even though the number on the others say they would fit, they would not. If you will look, I would bet that the number listed on the Wix is the same as the number listed for a '91 or later. As far as how the oil filter adaptor is turned, I have a verticle filter on my '92 4.0 engine and it has the standard threads. It does't have anything to do with the question but here is a very interesting article on oil filters. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/index.html
  6. Here is a picture of the female connector and one with the cruise plugged in. I ran into the same problem when I used the engine and harness with the column from a '92 Cherokee in my '87 Comanche. I had to look at my brother's Chevy S-10 to figure out what the female connector looked like. The harness with this connector comes through the firewall just to the right of the accelerator cable.
  7. Here is one that I have. http://www.teamcherokee.com/
  8. My brother has an '83 S-10 2wd with that engine. It has over 250K on it and is still going. The only major problem was an oil pump bolt came loose and locked up the engine. From what I gather the bolt dropped out and caught on a crank counterweight. It took out the oil pump but the engine was idling when it came out so there was no other damage. As far as I know the carburetor has never even been off........ But these results may not be typical. :dunno:
  9. I don't know about any of my drivetrain. I bought the truck without an engine. The ATF looks pretty dirty. If I could find a complete Cherokee that was running well but wrecked I would swith out from the engine to the transfer case.
  10. My XJ has .26 but my coolant is only about 2 months old. The heater core has never been changed. The radiator went out at over 100K. I have been mixing with well water for over 20 years and never had a problem. I recall that when I was in college in 2002 (NAFTA) that a story was told of a Taurus that would deposit the heater core in the block or radiator in just a few months.
  11. Thanks. JTEC is for Jeep Truck Engine Controller. Sorry.
  12. I am going to swap an HO into my '87 Comanche 4x4. I have found one in a very badly wrecked 2wd Cherokee. I can get the whole Cherokee fairly reasonable. Is there going to be any problem with the 2wd jtec in an '87 4x4 with an AW4? The Cherokee has an instrument cluster with a tachometer which is another plus. I want to use the Jtec instead of the Renix system because I am a little familiar with the Jtec.

I am in Northwest North Carolina. I am saving funds to buy a whole donor vehicle. I have found a few pre-HO's and one 2wd HO. I really want to change the transmission also. It may be OK but I had rather get the two together. It is really nice to drive around and actually find parked XJ and YJ's that are half way affordable. After a couple of decades looking for old Mopar muscle cars this is really pleasant.

Here is some pictures of the Comanche that I bought for parts and couldn't make myself remove them. This will be my truck to replace a rusted '64 Dodge soon. 31/10.50's and a ? lift. It has Ranch 3000RS shocks. Small amount of rust on the driver Rocker posting.php?mode=post&f=3# Hopefully a 4.0 HO by spring. The XJ patched up right nicely
