Alright, well tonight i just replaced my alternator with a 105amp Delco Remmy from Advance Auto. I changed it in suspicision of a failing Alt. due to low a Voltage gauge and dimming lights at stop signs/ traffic lights while idling and on the brakes. Upon test driving after the new alternator install I noticed that every once in a while (only happened twice) after a bump the gauge will drop into the red, lights all dim for a few seconds then resume. I Checked the connections at the battery, both connections at the Alternator and the belt tension. I also took off the group of eyelets and cleaned all of them and re installed. Battery was replaced in August of 2009. Even after all this my voltage guage still remains at just above the "low" safe mark but my lights no longer dim at idle and on the brakes. I guess the guage is just out of wack since with a Multimeter on the battery under idle conditions with no loads I'm pulling 14.7 volts. Also the Battery cables still seem in good shape with no signs of rubbing through or issues. Anyway, just seeing if theres anything else i should keep an eye on or check out, over the next few days. Thanks for any info!

It was a great Truck to be cutting up but the end result is kinda cool for some odd reason. Thats his final video, he has a few showing his progress, including the untouched truck :shake:

Lifting my jeep more
ComancheKid45 replied to MjAllTheWay's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Throw on the ZJ coils and see how much lift you acctually gain... I threw a set on ontop of my 1.5" BB and gaind .75" of lift, basically leveled the truck out....i have a set of 3" XJ AALs in my garage waiting for an oppertunity somewhere someday, but they werent needed. next to my XJ (only shackle in rear stock height otherwise) -
Lifting my jeep more

An XJ AAL will work for about half the advertised height on an MJ..... example 3" XJ AAL = approx. 1.5" on an MJ ;) -
what's your take on antilock breaks?
ComancheKid45 replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I hate em! I wanna be in control of my actions, not vise versa..... I have them in my delivery trucks at work and can't stand em in the snow -
O ok.....i have 1 Jack and 1 2 peice thingy. but with switching them between 2 Jeeps thats the main reason i was looking for another set. Thanks for the info on the winch tool though

120 amp alternater help
ComancheKid45 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright gonna ask the cheapy question here... What is the maximum amount your alternator can safely put out on the factory 8ga. wire? -
I'm looking for The rod that is used 2 lower the spare tire down from the truck, this peice is also used 2 raise and lower the OEM Spare tire jack. If you have the Jack and tool as a set id be intrested in both as a set if the price is right. Make me an offer on what ya got. Thanks! :waving:

New Gauge Cluster Trouble
ComancheKid45 replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you remeber what your old gas gauge read prior to the install? maybe you have a full tank? lol Otheresie check your gauge's fuse under the dash, if its blown or missing your fuel gauge will always be inaccurate -

I'm looking for an Alternator upgrade for my MJ, don't need to be going too extreme but maybe something like a 136amp or so. Mainly for running off road lights. I know theres alternators out there off other Jeeps that will fit with minimal modification so idk what someone here might have laying around. Thanks!

ComancheKid45 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Took everything apart again and hit all the Speedo internals with some dry lube... Problem Solved  :clapping: Guess it just gets alittle dry in there after 23 years, lol
