  1. :agree: If I could afford it I would pull a Jim and save them all.
  2. Having stuff in reserve is definitely nice but I wouldn't blow hundreds (thousands) of dollars just in case something were to happen to a new vehicle. Not saying it's a bad idea but I wouldn't spend my life savings hoarding parts for trucks that are at most 3 years old. In 10 years or in the case of MJ stuff, sure. I don't see why Ford would want to cancel the Raptor. I sure see a bunch of them.
  3. I'll sell you mine. How does 2000 and a fully restored Grand Wagoneer sound for a price? :P P.S. that Isuzu will probably run forever.
  4. I imagine the silver is original but the two tone is added on. Metallic silver is a pretty rare color (welcome to the club, brother) throughout the model years in various shades. Can't help with your bolt problem but on the list I'm seeing it does differentiate between sides on Rockauto.
  5. Another thing I'd like to add is that a properly equipped MJ can do almost anything you can ask from it that doesn't involve the word 'passengers'. People don't expect a little old truck to be as fast as ours are, nor do they expect our 'little old pieces of junk' to haul just as much if not more than some trucks made today. My seat is even comfortable, too. It's not every day that you find a vehicle like that that's old enough to drink.
  6. Comanches are something some people have never seen before. I get a lot of compliments. One person asked me if my truck was a 1967 model. Some people just don't know cars.
  7. I'd say that's worth the 1500 mile drive! That might be the nicest interior I have ever seen in any vehicle that's not a Cadillac. Good luck and hopefully it'll be a fun experience for you.
  8. http://comancheclub.com/topic/34209-comanche-fluids-and-oils/ Here's a whole thread about it. Personal preference is fine for most everything but trans fluid: Dexron/Mercon is a MUST for the AW4, which I think you have. (4spd auto) You also use it in the transfer case.
  9. The 44 is just a better axle all around, mainly in that it's stronger. Your 2.5 probably won't generate enough torque to even think about breaking a 35 without big tires (31s or bigger). Death wobble: It's caused by SOMETHING in the front suspension or a combination of somethings. Tie rod ends and especially the track bar are good places to check for something worn or loose. You may also want to rotate and balance your tires if you haven't done so recently.
  10. Those actually look pretty decent. How many miles are on the motor all together?
  11. Another victory for Rockauto. Very surprised they're still available.
  12. :needpics: Another lost soul converted!
  13. I don't have one but I haven't heard anything horrible about HF jacks. I keep a bottle jack and tire iron behind the seat for emergency tire removal - while I'm thinking about it, getting an actual spare would be a good idea. Remember the saying, "one who does not use a jackstand becomes a jackstand" even more so for bottle jacks. Most of the bolts you'll need to worry about are metric. The only exception I can think of right now is on the battery, the terminal clamps are 1/2 in. If you don't have one a Torx set might also be handy (if you can help it replace the stupid Torx screws with real bolts) Rockauto has great prices, but shop around on Ebay first. Autozone is pretty expensive. Quadratec has lots of 4x4 parts but I've heard they're getting expensive. Team Cherokee specializes in XJs. Don't expect to find MJ specific parts (anything behind the doors) anywhere - except for the gas tank, strangely.
  14. I think having a huge lightbar would be tacky but a smaller amber setup wouldn't be too bad. Definitely help people if you can do so safely, screw legality.
  15. Can't comment on the architecture stuff but that's a beautiful Willys and a nice shop, too.
  16. If I named a parrot Moses and a dog Jesus, my shotgun would probably be called God.
  17. Yeah this is probably the wierdest optioned MJ I've seen in a while. Not that it's a bad thing.
  18. Good! If they changed it completely they'd absolutely ruin the looks. The GC is one of the few modern Jeeps I can stand to look at but those headlights are pretty dumb looking. Jeep needs to remember what got them to where they are... squares and circles, but please for the love of all that is holy no more bug eyes! And honestly I don't see why they don't start building the XJ again with a reinforced unibody and all the other safety stuff. They only sold 3 million the first time.
  19.
  20. Nice.
  21. Another vote for Kroil here. The stuff is absolutely fantastic.
  22. "To engage, shift the transfer case lever from 2H to 4H while the vehicle is moving at any legal speed" 4L position: " To engage, slow the vehicle to 2-3 MPH , shift the transmission to Neutral, then shift the transfer lever to the right and pull firmly rearward to 4L". Straight out of the manual. The only stupid question is one that isn't asked. Apologizing for asking questions is actually against the rules!
  23. :rotfl2:
  24. That's amazing. I like it when people go that extra mile. What parts did you get?
