  1. Saw some on Ebay a couple of months back. Were NOS. As for reproductions? How about suppliers on Ebay? Bet someone here knows of a supplier.
  2. Is it just me or are the Olympic decals not put on straight?
  3. Don't think he ment it to be funny. Don is a Chrome freak!
  4. Jim, My dad had a small stroke and recovered 100%. Did kind of scare him, big time. It is a Very good thing that you are writing on the board so quickly. Pay very close attention to the Doctors! Follow their instructions 100%. My late wife had a really bad stroke, but with intensive therapy, made a significant recovery. So...Pay Attention to the Doctors!!
  5. Too much for you and too much for me. BUT just right for the buyer and the seller. So if the money changes hands, that is the true value of that particular truck at that point in time. Like I said before, this is Ebay, we shall see if the buyer flakes and it is listed again.
  6. Think what Bill means by "top dollar" is a bit different from what the seller in that ad is asking.
  7. Yes you can use the stuff from the Cherokee. Here is a trick - If you find a 2 door Cherokee, take the outer door window pieces from it and cut/trim the length to size for your truck. You can buy the 4 piece slider new from after market suppliers.
  8. Just spoke with the seller. He is a Jeep enthusiast and was on this site a few days ago. His wife wants him to get rid of some of the 8 cars/trucks/jeeps he owns. When I asked about the price, he said "almost as much as the number of miles on the truck". He said nice, no rust, well keept older Jeeps go for quite a bit of money on the east coast. Rob, told him you would be looking for the VIN# and had sent him an email. You might try calling him in a few days if you don't hear from him.
  9. Fellows, a fair price is what a willing buyer and a willing seller agree on. One man's trash is another man's treasure. I would not waste a single quarter any truck like that. But it really turns some people ON and they are willing to part with their money. And some people like "the look" but don't know how to turn a wrench, so they just have to pay for the finished product (or do without). Fine with me. Now, this is Ebay, so let's see if the winning bidder performs or if he/she is just an Ebay Flake. In which case, you will see the truck listed again.
  10. Neither 2 wheel drive nor 4 wheel drive makes any difference at all in the ability of the truck to tow anything according to the factory. A properly equipped 4x4 has the same max tow rating as a properly equipped 4x2. Check out your factory manual and you will see the same max tow weights. Lots of good information in the last 4 or 5 posts. Mostly, what is over the towing limits of the MJ. Post 35 shows why you NEED a frame mounted class 3 hitch WEIGHT DISTRIBUTING hitch. Post 38 has the trailer brakes, hitch height, and weight distribution nailed. Post 39 has good information in the last 2 paragraphs about your 25 year old truck's condition and the advantage of the long wheel base. If I recall correctly, the factory only rates the LWB truck part of the factory "properly equipped" requirement for a 5K tow rating.
  11. Congratulations to Jim and his bride.
  12. Just had my 91 smoged last Monday. Only problem was the gas cap. Replaced the gas cap and I passed with flying colors. It has been the same every time I have to do the smog thing for the last 7 or 8 years. The engine is bone stock and runs just fine on regular gas with about 250,000 miles.
  13. Please post some pictures so we can see what it looks like!
  14. What a wonderful find. The trailer is just icing on the cake.
  15. Worried about water in the cab or water outside the cab? I presume water = rust is the concern. If so, then Pour 15 on the inside floor and walls should be the solution, no?
  16. This has been covered several times here. Don has a drawing for the cross body harness. JP magazine did an article with a ComancheClub member, it spelled out wire colors and everything. Can not think of member name. But he is in Orange County. The write up is also here, in the DIY forum, I "think". Try this thread for a start: http://comancheclub.com/topic/36096-97-doors/?hl=power+windows I will post more links as I find them
  17. From the ad, it doesn't sound like he wants to sell it. Just fishing for a sucker with cash to burn. Have to wonder how much rust damage there is on the truck.
  18. The answer to the tires is reasonably simple. Just find the manufacturer date on the tires. If they match the production date of the truck, good chance they are original tires.
  19. Sell what ever you absolutely are not going to use in the next couple of months. I have moved some of my treasures with me for the last 25 years, and I am not much closer to using all of it than I was 20 years ago, nevermind 25 years ago. Convert the stuff to cash - much easier to move with you.
  20. Thanks John. But it's a D44. Spare tire winch is fine, but it still has the original 23 year old cable. The straps are just extra insurance for the hanging 31" tire. Thought you went to a Ford Explorer 8.8 for the rear disk brakes when you last had a problem with the Dana 44. Did not bother to look at the picture! So you just just installed the Explorer rear disks?? Or do I have that wrong too?? Do like the straps for insurance on the spare. I lost my spare and never knew it. Fortunately for me, I lost it right in front of the garage and found it when I came home. Still have not fixed the winch.
  21. Very neat installation on the Ford 8.8 Different U bolts required for Dana 44 or stock D35? What happened to your spare tire winch? Replaced it with straps?
  22. The 97-2004 Isuzu Rodeo and 97-2003 Honda Passport are the same car. Both have rear disks and Dana 44 standard with the V6. Both have the 6 lug wheel pattern. The V6 automatic has a 4.10 final drive, the 5 speed has a 4.30 final drive. Axel width is about an inch narrower than the Comanche Dana 44. Junk yards are full of Ford Explorers with the 8.8 and rear disk brakes. Think that may be the cheapest solution. Next would be the 8.25 from a later Cherokee.
  23. Was said in response to the last of the MJ's being able to be ordered/equipped with whatever the hell you damn well please remark.............. the D44 and power window/locks options weren't available after '91 into '92. My 1991 Comanche came from the factory with a Dana 44 as part of the "Big Ton" package. Have the original window sticker for the truck, so I know it came that way from the factory. FYI, "Big Ton" package = "Metric Ton" package. My truck did not come from the factory with p/w and locks. But it has them now.
  24. Hold on! This hitch issue comes up about every 6 months. The drawings have been made and posted. Look for a thread started by TerraWombat (?). Somebody just last week was using these drawings to plasma cut the brackets and wanted to know if anyone else needed a set for $50 plus shipping. I will see about posting a link when I find it. In the mean time, please use the search function and save yourself lots of $$ and duplicate effort.
