Seats! Who Has What In Their Mj
johnj92131 replied to farmerjohnson's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have seats from a 2 door Cherokee Laredo just like this only with a solid matching cloth headrest. The reclining mechanism needs some work. Otherwise the seats are as good as they look - and they look close to new. As for GirsMJ86's description of Talon seats - I don't think the "fit and comfort" he was describing came from seats!! -
1986 Comanche 2.1 Renault Diesel

Interesting. Wonder what it looks like. -
Brings up a question for me. Does the ComancheClub server let the club host files? Suspect not. But doesn't the old Yahoo Group site have a feature for posting files? If so, perhaps manuals and the like could be posted there with a "stickie" here for reference? I could make a PDF of my 1991 Comanche owners manual if anyone is interested. JJ

Gorgeous 88 Mj Laredo In Tn
johnj92131 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Spoke with the owner about the sale. The top bid was just below his reserve, so he offered to sell the car to the high bidder for the price bid ($8101). The Lady Bidder told him she would have to "check with her husband". Can you believe that? Anyway, the Comanche is being sold for the same price to the #2 bidder. The seller has a 1955 Studebaker Conistoga Wagon with the original Salmon Pink color and a 1984 AMC Eagle. The funds from the Comanche sale will, in part pay for a disk brake upgrade to the Studebaker. For those of you unfamiliar with the Conistoga, here is a sample picture: My first car was a 1953 Studebaker Land Cruiser and I have had a soft spot for Studebakers ever since. Oh and yes, the seller purchased the Comanche with the intent to flip it. But by flipping the truck he saved it from being just a cheap work truck and got it to someone who will appreciate the truck. -

Don't think this one sold: Current bid: US $8,101.00shipping Reserve price not met [ 18 bids ] But agree, it is a nice unmolested MJ and the build sheet makes it very nice. JJ Went for $8101. Good deal for both buyer and seller I think. -

Heck, I GAVE away a couple of better looking drip rails than that set to club members in the last 6 months. Found 2 more sets last month in a San Bernadino puck ur part yard. -
Still looking for the 87 blue face tach. To the top.

Anyone have a how to or tips to get that damn pin out?

Professional sports are full of people who think they walk on water and are entitled to everything and ANYTHING they could possibly want. The only people who have a bigger sense of entitlement are the owners. Jerry Jones has the biggest entitlement sense of ALL. The city of San Diego has a whole lot more important things to fix and to GIVE the San Diego Chargers ANYTHING, much less a new stadium or public land to build a new Stadium and 10,000 more condo for Alex Spanos to sell at a fat profit!!!!! Did I mention I don't have any use for professional sports?

Saw an 88 and 90 short Bed Comanche in the Pick A Part yard at 434 6th San Bernadion, Ca on Sunday. Both were in good shape. Short boxes were in decent condition, both tailgates were there and OK. Both trucks had good tail lights. One had a good stock bumper. Both bench seats good for the brackets. Dana 30 rear axels, one had a good 3 piece rear window. Did not see any bed light. Should be some decent parts for anyone in Southern California.

My 2x4 long bed is more than 3800 lbs close to empty.

Found one in Los Angeles so I am a happy camper. Thanks to all who posted pictures! Looking for a tach from an 87 6 cylinder with BLUE numbers as well as the larger white numbers. This tach starts at the 8:00 position, rather than the 9:00 position of the later tachs. Also has a hash mark for every 100 rpm, rather than the every 250 rpm of the later tachs. Please send a picture of what you have and the price you want. Thanks, JJ

Thanks Eagle! Next step is to test the early tach and see if it works. Are the rivets used on all the early tachs???? Anyone know? -

Parts Identification Help?
johnj92131 replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Should have been more specific. Yes, the top tach is an AMC vintage - either 1985/6 or 87. Bottom tach face is 91+ H.O. I am wondering if the 5500 redline is a clue as to the engine? Is it the 4 cylinder or the V6? Most renix 6's I have noticed had a 5K red line (at least the later renix engines). Notice also that the top tach face has a larger "sweep" than the later tachs. Want to use the earlier tach in a 6 guage HO cluster with the matching blue face guages. I have the late model blue face speedomoter and matching blue face small guages to fit the HO cluster. Just need the tach to match. -
Anyone Have An Mj With This Interior Color?
johnj92131 replied to yellaheep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks to be the same color as the 87 I saw in the Scrap yard in Oceanside on Monday. -
Think the 3.0 also had a taller deck height than the 2.5

Over the last several weeks I have swapped several gauge clusters in the Comanche while the truck sits in the garage. Need some help identifying where the tach in the first 3 picturs came from. And the item in the 4th picture is a left over part, but I am not sure where it came from. Any help will be appreciated. http://www.flickr.com/photos/18856762@N05/?details=1

How Robust Is The 4.0 Engine Block?
johnj92131 replied to Oyaji's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Barney Navarro was the engine builder of considerable reputation in the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Not a second tier driver or a driver at all. See this article for more information about Navarro: http://www.hemmings.com/mus/stories/2007/12/01/hmn_feature16.html -
Left taillight there right one trash. Tailgate has lots of surface rust for a California truck. Bench seat. Cluster gone, B pillar lights gone, rear speakers there. Didn't check axel (I have a Dana 44) Front window is good. Had a rear panel for the back of the cab. Fifthy, but could clean up or be a pattern. Rear fender flares theree. Had a home made lumber rack. Did not check for spare tire carrier. B pillar vents gone. That is about it. Pickup box was very usable. No rear bumper or trailer hitch. Think that covers most of it. Did I say it was a 6 cylinder? Guess I should have looked closer at the tailgate latches and handle. Next Saturday is 50% off
