open cooling system question
BLHTAZ replied to oldrusty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Interesting...I didn't think the open system started until 1991 on XJ's or MJ's. Has it been converted or is a late 2000 production that managed to get the '01 stuff? With the open system, I have always just filled it from the radiator cap, squeezed the upper hose a few times to get the air out and then started the engine with the radiator cap still off and waited for the t-stat to open. When the water level drops in the radiator with the t-stat open...fill it up & cap it then make sure the resevior has cooloant in it too. I have never had a problem doing it that way. -
HMMM...looks like Japaese Maple or red Marijuana... :hmm:

Thanks...but, the artwork came from Pete...I can't take credit for that. All I am doing is putting it on the shirts ;)

You will be hard pressed to find any OEM liners left that are in decent shape. There are bedliners out there, just not likely to be "OEM". Spray liner (Line-X, Rhino etc...) is the best way to go as the plastic ones do as much damage as they do good.

Just a little reminder that I made up...

DAMNITMAN...I was way too slow on that one. I was going to do the same thing...  mvusse... You need to mount a video camera in the truck when doing it so we can have some fun too

No offense intended guys, but that looks like a Mustang. I have never been a fan of Chevrolet stuff though, but I hope ya'll enjoy them.

Ordering is closed!! I will now spend most of the day today organizing all of this and getting the shirts ordered, then the next 2-3 days getting them ready to go to the printers. That being hte case, it looks like we should still be on track to be able to start shipping them by The 22nd or 23rd and should have all of them out in the mail by the 29th. I will keep you updated on the prgress as I know more. Just a quick shot of the artwork that will actually be used. It's the same as I have previously posted...just had the words asdded under it... Image Not Found

Lifting and bigger tires is needed if you want to take it offroad other than sand trails ;) . Then there are people like me that will never use their MJ offroad, but lift it and put bigger tires on it just for the looks  If someone is happy with their truck not lifted...that's great too

The SOA is going to give you between 5-6" of lift, so you will need a 6.5" front lift to match it. If you only want 3", put a decent front 3" kit and then get some leaf springs from one of the guys that make springs for the MJ like Hell Creek Suspensions or Motion Offroad...both are members on here and will probably give you a little discount if you tell them you are a member here. ;) They also sell complete kits for your MJ...

Starting Problems on 1992 Comanche 4.0 Pioneer
BLHTAZ replied to conan1977's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
 That is a big part of the "Jeep Thing" that most people don't understand... You love to hate them... . They can be VERY irritating at times, but when you work through it, you are all the more proud of what you have...thus the addiction. -
How do I disassemble the steering column
BLHTAZ replied to bilgamesh's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: If you are after the ingnition switch, there is no reason to take the column apart. The switch is simply bolted to the lower column under the dash. -
I like gas shocks and my preference is ProComp ES9000's. Typically are not expensive at about $40 +/- each. I run them on all 3 of my vehicles.

open cooling system question
BLHTAZ replied to oldrusty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Actually...you have the closed system. The open system has a radiator cap and is easy to deal with. Here is the write up I did on bleeding the system... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12311 I have also seen guys talk about filling the system through the upper radiator hose to help avoid getting the air in it, but I am not sure exactly how that works. -
They are very easy and should only take 10 - 15 minutes each...maybe a little more if you have never done it. ;)

Sounds like worn shocks to me

The only way you have an AX15 is if someone swapped it in. The AX15 was not used until mid 1989 in XJ's or MJ's. The D30 front axle that you have is a good axle for up to about a 35" tire and moderate wheelin'. You can get a Ford 8.8 from an Explorer to go in without a lot of work and match the 5on4.5 bolt pattern, but hat would not make a lot of sense since you already have a D44 and it is good for up to 37" tires with moderate wheelin' .

Air tools would be a BIG help in this situation, but the screw driver or pry bar through the u-joint is a good one.

  We were on it at the same time Pete...  Nearly identical descriptions too...

The Peugeot BA10/5 (which you have) is a notoriously weak transmission. They are very expensive to repair/replace. Most folks swap in an AX-15 from a slightly newer model or go to the AW4 automatic. The AW4 swap is quite a bit more work as it is computer controlled and you have to get the controller as well as the wiring harness to go with it.

Yeah...CPS is the first thing that comes to mind on that. Check to see it there is fire going to the plugs...if not, then it's most likely the CPS. It may just be a corroded connection at the plug as suggested. The give no warning when they go bad...they just quit and sometimes it's right in the middle of the raod.

Got it @ 10:45 AM :D

They will fit, but you have to cut the XJ seats off of their brackets and attach the XJ seats to the MJ seat brackets. If you look in the DIY forum I am sure there is a write-up in there on how to go about it. You will really want the seats from a 2 door Xj as they have the fold forward feature to allow you access behind the seats. The 4 door XJ's do not have this and it can be a real PITA to get behind the seats in the MJ if htey don't fold foward  EDIT: Here is the write-up ... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8093
