  1. Agreed...gear swapping is best left to a professional or at least someone that has plenty of experience and all the right tools to do it. Removing them is the easy part so if you are having trouble with that...you will never get them back together properly ;) .
  2. Well...I am not in PA any more, but I was born and raised in NW PA ... Franklin to be exact which is about 1.5 hours N of Pittsburgh. I left there in 1985.
  3. How much front lift are these working with. I have a RE 3.5" Super Ride kit and need springs for the rear, but I was afraid that these may be a little too tall. Did RDK ever take you up on this offer? If not...I sure would...that way I don't have a bunch of money in to taking a chance ;) .
  4. They ride great. My wife says that she can't even tell that I changed tires other than a little bit of road noise...but she likes that better anyway 8) . Gotta love a Jeep lovin' wife :D
  5. Have been wanting something more aggressive looking for a while now and finally decided on the Swamper TrXus MT Radial 31x10.50x15. It loks a lot better to me now... :D Before... After... (This is all the wheelin' it will ever see)
  6. If you can cut careful enough, then yes...otherwise you will have to buy some new perches, but they are not terribly expensinve so either way it is workable  .
  7. I just found that eBay auction yesterday myself. I out a 3.5" RE Super Ride kit on with the long AAL's and have been wanting to go to springs. I think the 980# would be good for ours as it is being built strictly for looks/show and will never see any trails. Glad to hear the good stuff about Hell Creek as I was looking at their site last night as well. Maybe with a few people interested, Hell Creek would make a group buy deal??

    4X4 BURNOUT

I was in the business selling tires, lift kits etc. etc... for a few years and 90% of the Claws that I sold came back because they sucked on rocks, in the mud and had a terrible ride on the road. Everybody wanted them off of their truck and went to someything else. I had several customers that said their boggers were much better tires for all around use than the Claws. Personal experience has shown me that Claws are basically worthless.
  9. I have owned the ProComp MT's and loved them. I now have Xterrains and they are great too. What ever you do...stay FAR away from Mickey Thompson Baja Claws.

    4X4 BURNOUT

That's all Claws are good for...burning up... so he did someone a favor by getting rid of them. Very cool vid though
  11. If you are going to wheel it...definitrly go Rubi. If you are not going to wheel it...go X. The axles, lockers & gears are very well worth the extra investment if you will use them  .
  12. :rotf: No...they did detail the whole thing. They did a nice job on the wheels too as they had been kind of oxidized from laying in my back yard for a few months. On the totaling thing...insurance companies will typically total a vehicle if the damage to it is over 70% of it's value. In our case, they said it was within 5% of being totaled and the bill was $1178 so that means that they were saying the value of the truck was roughly $1800 - $1900, but like the others have said...I would have kept it and fixed it anyway and would never have signed it over to them if they totaled it. Our son went through it a while back when he got hit and they totaled his car, but they offered him the money for it and let him keep it with no hassles.
  13. Yea...I noticed your "AMSOIL" in your sig after I posted ;)
  14. There is not a lot available for the 4.7L. I have a '02 Dodge Ram with that motor and while it runs strong, it is known for having some trouble and being expensive to repair if not VERY meticulously maintained. They tend to sludge up easliy is the biggest complaint, but if properly maintained with a good oil (preferably Synthetic), they run great. It is not a highly desired motor and therefore has never received a lot of attention from the performance angle. OH...BTW...I work at a Chrysler/Jeep dealership in the parts dept ;) .
  15. Looks like a nice truck for an '88. That noise sounds like an exhaust leak in the video, but if it goes awway when you rev the engine, I would think that it's not likely exhaust. VERY hard to tell in a video like that. If you are looking for new tires, you should be able to get some for around $80-$90 each for that. Remember that they have to be a high load rated tire for the HD truck so they will be a little more money than just a regualr car tire in a similar size.
  16. Definitley...if you have the money, go for it. The SYE...especailly the HD SYE, is worth the money any day.
  17. I say go for it. Very cool design.
  18. That is not likely to work. Every SOA that I have done, even with a CV shaft, needed to have the pinion rotated up anywhere from 2-4 degrees. You will probably have to re-position them or use shims.
  19. Yea...the insurance company would only pay to repair/paint the area that was damaged. I was happy that they fixed it at all as we figured that it would be totaled with $1200 in damage. Even if they had totaled it, we would have bought it back and fixed it ourselves. There is no way that they would take our MJ away just because of a door being destroyed. We will get the rest of it painted to match in the near future, but we were getting ready to go on our 10th wedding anniversary trip and didn't want to spend the money on it.
  20. Ya'll come on down to Florida...we don't have to worry about any e-testing or inspections at all. It can get scary at times to see some of the trucks on the highway with 24" of lift and 49" IROK's being used as daily drivers :chillin: .
  21. I had some people do that with one of mine. It showed up on some Australian Jeep forums being hot linked from my Ripway account so I moved my avatar and put a "not so nice" picture in there with the same name to get them for stealing my stuff :D .
  22. This is what happens when Mom tries to teach a 15 year old how to drive in 5:00 rush our traffic. Tina (my wife) was on her way home from work following a white Dodge Caravan when it decided to turn left. She continued on straight through, but as she was about half way past..."Mom" told the boy NOT to turn left, so he turns right...and guess who/what is there in the way of the front bumper/fender of the minivan... Tina & our MJ  . The minivan got the worst of it as the front bumper was ripped half off and the headlight was hanging out  . It was not terrible, but definitely a bummer... Tina's left leg was a bit sore for a few days, but no one was really hurt. The good part is...it got a new paint job. The bad part is...it was only the drivers side that got painted :? , but it looks good from that side  .
  23. I haven't been around in a while, but I would be in for a hat when they are ready. I wear hats constantly and own near 100 of them right now.
  24. Yes...change that filter. Fram is known for bad oil flow/pressure due to poor construction. If that does not do it, I had the same "valve noise" issue when I bought mine and it turned out to be a broken valve spring. The guy sold it cheap because he was told it needed $1500 worth of engine work ;) :D ...but I knew better .
  25. I just installed the RE bar and other than it being a PITA to drill out the hole for the heim joint end, it is a very nice bar.
