Look at this thread on my Florida board. This guy did his "Cheromanche" in a semi-flat krylon and it looks pretty good. He is going to camo it when he is done with the exo-cage, but I have seen it and it looks good. You just have to take your time and it can look decent.

I would try the simple thing first...change the bulbs. I have seen in the dual element bulbs that one element will break and fall against the other and cause the issue you are describing. It would be a bit strange and unlikey for it to be both at the same time...BUT, you never know.
-
That's what I am doing, but it requires that you change a lot of other stuff as well. razrwild.... That is a good looking truck for the price. As the others have said...I would not be overly concerned about the D35 for right now. If you have access to the 8.8 for a good price ($200 or less) then get it, but don't go crazy trying to find one and over pay.

Welcome to the board and to Comanche ownership. I will be doing the radiator swap in the next couple weeks. I have all of the hoses, heater valve, t-stat housing, new temp sensor & wiring etc, etc... I am just waiting on the new 3-row HD radiator to get here, which should be on Tuesday of this week. I will be doing a complete write up with part numbers and pics when I do it. ;)

Exactly...and thus their mantra... "Lifestyles Off the Beaten Path" ;)

3.5" RE Lift on the way ... ?? 2" rear shackles ?
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have been searching a little bit for these, but have not found them yet. If you know of a source, please direct me to them. I can't go SOA with the springs as that will give about 5" of lift and I only need about 2" with a 3.5" in the front. -
Help...Radiator hose replaced...temp light on
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have everything now but the radiator. It is supposed to be here on Tuesday of next week... -
No...this is a complete new production. I came across these guys many months ago when they were developing the idea.

3.5" RE Lift on the way ... ?? 2" rear shackles ?
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't expect everyone to understand, but we all do things for our own reasons. This a a 3rd vehicle and only get's driven about 20 miles a month if that, but it's in great shape and being a rare vehicle we do not want to beat it up or drive it a lot. It was purchased for just this reason...to fix up and have as a spare driver if needed. We have a VERY nicely built YJ that we use for all of our wheelin', bangin'and breakin' ;) . I am buying the RE stuff because I have always used RE for it's quality...AND it is painted Gray, which is part of the color scheme that we are using on this project. The rear of these things is just such a pain to deal with, so I was hoping to get some advice from those of you that have done it and decide what is best for me from your input. -
3.5" RE Lift on the way ... ?? 2" rear shackles ?
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea...the unfortunate part is that no one makes springs for such a small amount of lift. This Jeep is being built for looks, not for trail, so I am not worried about ride, flex or anything like that so I may just go with some add-a-leafs and be done with it. Thanks for the info/opinions so far. Any other ideas or input?? I have about 2 weeks before the lift gets here, so keep it coming. :D -
That is why I brought it up here. They are a pretty new production and wanting more input from the Jeep community. We need to find ways to get the MJ's some notice and in their production. I have a very good rapport with Frank, the Editor-in-Chief, and he is a great guy and willing to work with anyone that is willing to do things and make contributions, such as articles you would like to see, to make them better.

The newest edition of JPFreek is out if anyone reads it here. It is an awesome production, so check it out if you have not seen it  . Click on the pic...

I have ordered a 3.5" RE Super Ride lift for the MJ, but it is an XJ kit that comes with an add-a-leaf for the rear. Obviously, I am not going to be able to use those, but I was thinking of going with a 2" shackle instead...any opinions or advice?? The kit comes with new lower control arms and I ordered the uppers to go with it as well as the adjustable track bar. :D

I don't see where this conversation could make us look bad. It is simply stating the we wish our government would get off of their wimpy, scared to hurt feelings butt and support the way of life that we have worked so hard for. If immigrants come in and become productive Americans, I will stand proudly beside them, but I am also tired of picking up the tab for the ones that come here to live off of my hard work for free and get pissed off when I will not accomodate their language. I, for one, am proud to be called a Redneck. Redneck stands for a large group of hard working Americans that are the backbone of this country. If it weren't for Rednecks, we would not have near the great country we do now. :USAflag: :D

Yes...actually it "was". I didn't catch it until after I took that picture and posted it and kept studying it to figure out why it looked funny  I'll get another shot of it tomorrow and replace that one as it is dark outside now.OK...it's fixed... :chillin:

I have no problem with immigrants as long as they conform to our society and don't expect us to conform to them. If you come here, you will live by our rules. I have never cared if I offend anyone that is trying to come here and make me change to suit them. Plain and simple, if you are offended by my way of life, religion, laws etc...etc... then get the hell out.

I just want to make it clear that the statement that I posted is NOT an official stand by the government of Australia, but rather the statements of some of it's higher ranking officials that would like it to be so. Searched it on Snopes... This happened August 2005. Damn shame it wasn’t a formal declaration! No government is gutsy enough for that. I wish ours was. http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/australia.asp

No...it was North of us...thank God. We did have some friends hit by it though.

Replacing the Interior Lights -- (How I did it)
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I just ran outside in the cold & rain to check and they work very nice. They definitely provide an adequate amount of light  -
I picked up a grill while on vacation last week. We stopped in to Blue Ridge 4X4 in Georgia while we were traveling and found a used chrome grill from an XJ. :D Before After

Replacing the Interior Lights -- (How I did it)

I threw the receipt away, but I believe they were about $3.50 each. I bought several things at the same time, so I don't remember the exact price, but I know that is close. -

Thank you... I am happy wit hthe way they look 8) . Yes...they work just as if they were meant to be there...both come on with either door just as designed ;) . They are a little bigger than the others as you can see how they slightly cover the little round screw cover above them, but that is no big deal to me. I guess in hind site, I could have dremeled the bottom of hte original hole and moved it down just a little instead of up. -
X2 Mine "looked" OK, but would not work. I put a new socket in and it was fixed.

OK...after looking around for a few weeks, I came across these lights in an Advance Auto Parts store. They are made by Optronics, but I have not found them on their site...only at Advance. The package it came in looks like this. You will need to remove the clear cover and drill new mounting holes as the ones provided will not work. You will also need to modify the hole in the B-Pillar panel to allow the fixture to move up slightly to be able to put the screws in. I used a dremel bit in my drill, basically a 1/2" round piece of sand paper, to make the modification needed. Then you simply put some male spade connectors on the ends of the wires on the new light fixture and plug them in to the apprpriate connectors on the wiring harness in the Jeep. The red wire is the hot and the black with white stripe is the ground. Then you hold the new fixture up in place, drill the needed holes for the mounting screws and put them in place... :D

This was sent to me in an email, but it expresses all the feelings that I share about our own country. This is what I want in a leader in our government, not the spineless wimps that we are stuck with now. I would like to see this type of attitude here...how about you?? ~Brent ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's hear it for Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted." Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voting the same truths!! SEND THIS TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW, IF YOU AGREE !!!
