My understanding is you need to swap the whole unit, along with a pedal assembly out of a newer XJ. Been looking into this mod as well. Maybe someone can clairify it for us.

Thats one good lookin truck. I like the winch set up, came out great. -
Ok, I'll bite. Why would you move it to the bed?

The Brace over the rad is bolt in. Takes 10mm to remove it. Buy a parts Jeep, that way you can strip it as you go. Be cheaper in the long run. Plus you can sell what you don't need on ebay and make some money back.

Some people don't get why I get excited over a rusty old Jeep  Nice to see I'm not the only one. Looks like a good score. I'm actually looking at another MJ as well, you just never know. Old Jeeps have character, I like that.

The Renix is basically the 4.0 before it became the H.O engine in 91. The power is a bit less than the HO, however it does have a good low rpm torque rating, better than the HO. Pretty solid engine, rearmain seal is the only weak spot I know of, usually needs replaced around 100k or so.

I installed XJ Laredo Doors on my Last MJ, you do want a relay to power the options. I ran it off a hot wire, wanted to be able to adjust the windows even when the truck was off. Big thing I see about using the newer doors is the latch post is different. You need to use a post off a 97up Cherokee. This will require some welding. For my MJ, think I will go with Laredo/Limited doors off and older XJ, then do the front grill swap to a newer unit.

Great gig, I would like to look into that when I retire from the FAA.

New seats, what options do we have?
Rob S replied to Rob S's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think liberty seats may be an option......... Looking at some newer XJ seats too. -
Airsoft BBs sound like a bit more work than you may want to deal with. Buy an airsoft gun and play airsoft with those. Its a blast! I play as often as I can

Diddo on that. I plan on the upgraded front end, and Bucket seats

I can get bored at times, other times its crazy hectic. I am an Airtraffic Controler, work for the FAA/US Gov. Great Job, and offers some down time to scan the computer for good deals on Jeep parts

Well put, and I admire you for that. I never had a dad, so I always figured I would wait to have a kid. Wait till I can give that child everything I never had. Was married for 7yrs before we had our daughter. Its the most amazing thing, my daughter is now the center of my life. I can't give you any insight on being a single dad, I can tell you that little one needs all you can give. Get the best lawyers you can afford, that is very important, good legal advice is key. Every state is different when it comes to these things. No matter the outcome, stay involved, the rewards are ten fold the hurt.

Did you keep your older fenders and hood? Looks like you just swapped the header pannel? Fairly easy swap was it? Looking to do the same on my MJ. Also, hurry with the 33 pics, debating on that or 32's  -
I have always liked the OME shocks, figured that is what I would go with on my MJ. How do the OME shocks compare to the Bilstein?

I lived in Louisville KY for 6yrs, been in NY for 2yrs now. Nice to be back to the northeast, from up this way. I did like to go and visit Gatlinburg TN, wife and I hiked all over that area, I do miss it. The Smokies are beautiful.

New seats, what options do we have?
Rob S replied to Rob S's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hey Jage, appreciate the info on the XJ mounting. I too am 6', my truck has tilt but I am to lazy to use it everytime getting in and out, prefer to just leave it. Been looking at aftermarket seats, may be the way to go, or Jeep liberty seats. Anyone check out the cheapy leather "raceing seat" that sell on ebay for 99bucks a pair? Just curious. -
I'm on the high end too at 36. Been building Jeeps since I was 16 so guess that should count for something

Been looking to upgrade the interior. I know XJ seats are a possiability, however, what else we have? Here is what I been looking at, Newer Grand Cherokee seats, Liberty Seats(have heat switch on the seat), maybe stay bench and check out a ford ranger seat? I just bought the wife a 05 Grand Cherokee Limited, going to get a few measurements and see how they would fit. Meanwhile, anyone check out other options then XJ?
-
Thats sharp, I like it. I like the wranglers, can't beat no doors or top for summer cruisin.
-
The new Wrangler's now share the same bolt pattern as the WJ, it is 5x5. Looks like some good score on the parts though. Those TJ flares do bring some cash, the rear flares from a TJ can be trimmed nicely for the front of an XJ/MJ.

I didnt know the odometer even went that high, I figured it went to 299,999.9 and started over........... That is great, all those miles with a pukegoat tranny no less, awesome.

I like the rockers you did, nice job. If mine would rust out that is the way I would go.
