  1. Its amazing how well some of those root systems are inbedded into the ground. Bumper looks good.
  2. I was looking at rusty's but was a bit apprehensive, nice to hear they are decent springs. I will probably go that route. I will check Alcan too, but don't know much about it.
  3. May go a different route with my MJ, if so I will be looking to keep it spring under (swapping in a new rearend) and need about 3.5" of lift. What is the best riding rear spring pack that would give me that amount of lift? Would prefer to buy a new set, however if building is the only option I will do that. TIA!!
  4. looks don't outweigh performance. I agree that 12.5's are not ideal, but price is my savior here and I gotta do what I gotta do...even if I buy a set of cragars, my investment will be a mere 4-5 hundred dollars for BRAND NEW tires on rims. that's a deal one can't pass up, especially when it's the tire size desired. Everything is a trade off, such is life

    Toys for the TJ

I would have a hard time selling my TJ, I think I would want way to much for it. It has so much done to it, it would cost a fortune to build another one. Plus offroad it is just amazing, as well as fun to drive on the road. Here is a shot of mine. Have some offroad shots, but most of the time I'm driving so no pics. When I first bought a house most of my toys were sold, eventually you will get them back, just takes time.
  6. CW, I like the looks of the 12.5's the best, looks sharp.
  7. That CJ8 is amazing, always wanted one of those. Still do. I can see why you are sorry for selling her.

    Toys for the TJ

So why did you go this route? Just curious, I have a built TJ I use as an offroader (and dd till the MJ is finished). You could have done a Tera low kit for cheaper than the rubi case. You could have gone with ARB's and a regear for cheaper than the axles. The Rubi front axles have issues with the ujoints giving out, may want to search that a bit and fix it now before the install. don't take this post as a cross examination, just getting your point of view.
  9. I'll have to take a few pics of my floor. I just por15'd it, other than some very minor surface rust it was mint. Not as clean as yours, but close. I just picked up some bedliner to go over the por on the floors.
  10. Some great points made here, I may check into the bfg 33/10.5 and some 15x8's. Or maybe just staying with 15x8's either way.

    The Fleet

You need to add that 91 I found for you around MD to that fleet
  12. I too am looking to go longarm, I will go with the TNT, or maybe the Rusty's. Rusty has done some improvments from his original design. For the extra couple bucks, I like the TNT better, it comes with a nice crossmember skid set up. For me, its not worth the hassel to build one, I can just buy a tnt and be done. For the tnt longarm upgrade its just over 800 bucks. Unless you plan on hardcore wheeling it, either of these systems will work fine, plus they are bolt in. For hardcore, I would go with claytons set up, its a weld in unit.
  13. I'm looking to run the same wheel size here. The only trimming you need to do is on the front fender (the rear wheel well is a large enough opening). Once you get the tire on, jack it up, see where it rubs, trim as needed, also you can adjust your bumpstops to limit travel so it doesnt contact sheet metal. For a DD thats no big deal, you won't need mad flex on a DD. I am looking to go with a 15x10 with 3.75 back spacing. Thats fairly common backspacing with any aftermarket rim. I plan on black street locks with a all terrain of some sort. I will be lifted approx 5", maybe closer to 5.5". You can check my pics in the project forum here, it shows how my lower front fender is trimmed some already, I don't plan on doing much more. I am redoing the front lift thats in it now, switching to a long arm set up (probably TNT), should level it out to match the SOA in the rear.
  14. I am an ARB fan myself. I know they are pricey, but I feel they are worth it.
  15. Some good ideas there. I like the summit one you add in. I don't need the indicater, however, if the wife borrows the truck I would rather not have her run it all over town in 2nd. Also like the idea of going with aftermarket guages if I can work them in ok.
  16. Looks real nice. I like the full guages too. I have a colum shift and want to keep it, so may have a hard time finding guages. I think I may just set up some autometer guages in place if I can, do a custom set up.

    Bed Liner

Looks good, I want to do a spray in liner on mine too. At this rate going to be awhile till I get to that point.
  18. Best to clean out the frame good as you can, pressure washer if you can get it in the area. Then spray in some por15 after it is good and dry. Check the area's you think could be trouble with a hammer from the outside, if they give, it will need reinforced.
  19. Not sure if this is exaclty the same set up, but I used a 89ax-15 (YJ) and 95HO engine in my 91 comanche. You only need the center bearing, not the spacer they have on the older engines. I believe if you use the later year bearing it should work on the tranny. Hope that makes sense. If all else fails use a brass bushing, thats how the older cars were set up anyhow.
  20. I remeber that MJ being forsale. Glade someone rescued it. Keep us posted, sounds like a big project.
  21. I thought the upgradeable better booster started in 95, am I wrong?
  22. Looking good!!!!!!!! MORE make great components. I used alot of there stuff when I built my last comanche.
  23. Did you have to change the harmonic balancer as well? I've never done the swap so not sure, I just thought the part numbers for the HB were different with stick and auto's due to the flywheel change. Again, not sure but may be worth looking into.
  24. Ahh, the old gun post. This will draw lots of opinons. For a .22 plinking pistol, I have a Ruger MKII Gov Slab side 6 7/8", super gun. Love it. I own to many guns to list, really. Still like the old Ruger to plink with. As for the comment why you need a pistol camping, well bears arent an issue in the east coast (unless you get between a momma and cub) so I would say wild dogs and people are the main concerns. If you don't know why these two issues are of concern, give it time, later in life you will understand. Side note, I too shoot bow, I have a traditional recurve, 70lb, no sights. My favorite hunting season is Muzzleloader, again, traditonal flint lock smoke pole. Tracker, when I retire I would love to get into a game warden or park ranger job. I am a gov employee now, hope I can slide over when the time comes.
  25. Well I have a friend who has a friend that does this stuff........ So, I made a trace of the decals and he scanned it in, looks like he can do it. I said make a few sets. Not to step on toes if someone is on this board and making them. But I wasnt sure and want a set, soon. Anyhow, if someone wants a set, let me know and I will see what I can do. I have no idea on price or quantity yet, I will keep everyone interested posted.
