Install was pretty straight forward, they are nice heavy rockers. I will get a few install pics that I have up. I definitely recommend them. -

Thanks! Aftermarket, but nothing crazy. The front is the basic aftermarket one from Goliath offroad, no hoop or winch slot, just the bumper, back is the Dirtbound bumper and hitch assembly, all that is on order now. -

Hey all, been a long time since I have been on here. I have always liked the MJ's and have recently purchased my third one after 12 years of selling my last one (looked almost like this one). Had a ton of the old XJ's through the years and currently have a built TJ ( Been building Jeeps for over 30 years). I recently drove by a gas station and saw this one sitting off to the side. Gave them a call and ended up buying it. It is a one owner truck. 89 Pioneer short bed, has 4.0, 5sp, 170k mi, bench seat, offroad package that included a factory Dana 44 rear! This is the first time I have ever seen a Dana 44 in a short bed from the factory. I do have all the original paper work from the Jeep to include the window sticker. Truck has almost no rust, just some in the passenger side door. I did have a set back when the truck either kicked out of gear (or I did not put it in gear after working on it, which I hate to admit I did!) and rolled through a pasture fence landing on a rock, denting in the passenger side rocker. Needs pulled out and fixed now. I purchased a set of canyon rims with new 30" M&S tires to run for now. Bought off CL for 300 bucks. Now I am deciding exactly how I want to build it. I am thinking of a smaller lift with either 31" or 33" tires. Going with newer XJ doors with pwr options, fixing the AC, regearing to 4:56's, new paint and pioneer decals, and going through the drivetrain. Eventually new/rebuilt 4.0, either a t3550 or G370 trans, and 242 tcase. Upgrading the front axles and braking system. Basically making it a new version of the MJ, no fender cutting or anything though ( I know 33's can be an issue with no cutting, but it can be done if set up right). I want to keep it fairly original looking, with just some enhancements. Anyhow, that is all for now, this is a long term project, so just looking at ideas and collecting parts for awhile.

electric heater (an idea that needs nurturing)

Yes, used 1997+ hoses and eliminated the water control valve. From this: Image Not Found To this: Image Not Found Got the new hoses at O'Reillys, p/nos 19038 (outlet) and 19039 (inlet). Simple but great idea! Some day you need to post all your tricks for the rest of us to copy -
overall length difference, 231 vs 242
Rob S replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
All my research came up with 1" difference. I have a 242 waiting to go in my MJ, when the 231 is out I'll measure both. -
New 2.5 MJ project...Now a 4.0 H.O. project
Rob S replied to CEThomas's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Hey, truck is looking sweet. Glad you found a bed, not a big flat bed fan on an MJ. Looks like the bed you found is in decent shape, good score! Got a pic of the tires on her yet? -
Truck looks good! Always have a few bugs to work out after a lift. What control arms are you going with? Or maybe drop brackets?

Lots of people run DB's here on the board, if you search around you will find post's on it. I think the general consenses is, Long arms if you can afford it, DB's work fine if you can't. I am considering a set till I can figure out which LA setup I want. A SOA in the rear with a D35 will net you closer to 5", give or take. A D44 will bring you closer to 6". If you search my project post on mine, you can see pics of a SOA with a D35, stock leaves and shackles. Truck looks good, lots of work ahead, hang in there.

I ran into this on a parts XJ with the Driver door stuck. I used a small long screw driver and went from the inside, between the door pillar and door, right around the latch assembly. I managed to get the screwdriver on the latch and just popped it up. My latch was toast so nothing else worked. This may be your case.
