Dum, dumb, & dumber. No under cut/wedge cut, park your truck near the tree, No wedge used to reliev pressure, cut it in your front yard with a houseful of family in the house. This guy needs to be under constant supervision and barred from handling chain saws.

I think Jim's got bad driving habits. The other rigs in the photos aint dirty and I bet they came in on the same road. Jim, you sure you weren't heading directly at ever hole in the road to see how deep they were, or how high the mud would splash.

My shift handle would hit the end of the track when it was moved into 2wd. That stopped the trf case linkage from making a complete shift out of 4x4 mode. I had to get under it and adjust the linkage a minute amount to correct it so that it was disengaging 4x4 and going into 2wd.

Steering Column Compatibility

I'd sure like to pull the key out of mine while it's running. Wouldn't have to shut it down when I want to use the knife on the key ring when the grand daughter wants her apple sliced.. Yeah I know I could just take the knife off the ring, but, that sucks. Whats gotta be modified? -
Smoke coming from exhaust pipe...
deziped replied to 87Chief's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Take the radiator cap off (when its cool) and see if you have water in it. Appears your burning water & anti-freeze from your narrative of things. Usually white smoke is anti-freeze burning off. Especially if it does it all the time. -
Full time vs. Part time 4x4?
deziped replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Use the 242. Put it FT in Dec, take it out in Mar. Oh, forgot your in CA, just use it when you think you need it. It just provides one more additional option that the 23l doesn't have. I have found it convenient for those people who want to use 4 X 4 but can't remember to take it out of gear when they no longer need 4X4 on pavement. -
Don't care who wins it, just want to see a slam bam kick a-- game. But then the wuffs are playing inside so they don't get their pinkies cold and their pants dirty, so don't expect to much. Oh, they can't hit each other to hard either as it hurts. Whaaaaa

Gave one (88) to my daughter. It was red with the wide gold stripe on upper edge of fender & bed. Had olympic ring sticker under Comanche emblem. Other than that it was just a typical MJ. Interior was standard fare with bench seat. Nothing really special about it.

I don't think the seller was implying that 65 at 4000 was good for highway driving. He merely said it got there very quickly I presume meaning it had a lot of torque. Possibly he should have mentioned it wouldn't do it a second time intact.

Hacked on the old NSS today to see why its considered non repairable. Well you can't melt the resin covering the back, the wires under the stuff burn first. You can't chip the stuff out as tapping on it cracks the black plastic case easily. I doubt that you could grind the covering on the back off with a dremel without cutting into some of the six wires encased with the resin as their spread through out the stuff. Conclusion: It's to time consuming to mess with it, just trash can it and get one at the JY. Oh, as I suspected when I swapped it out a couple days ago, it did have a broken blk/wh wire in the switch about a 1/4 inch into the covering on the back.

I don't think it a good idea to use 4X4 on pavement unless its got ice or snow on it, or when you can maintain your vehicle in a full state of hydro-planing on water. . Now if you have full time 4X4 thats a diferent barrel of apples as it has a built in differentiation capability built into the trf case gearing to alleviate binding buildup...

Probally an Asian Warner (AW4). Far as I know they were the only auto offered from 87 up.

Remember the old addage "marriage is a two way street" . Sometimes it seems all the traffic is going in the wrong direction. That can be overcome in many instances by communicating openly and truth-fully with each other. One must be willing to adjust their habits/life-styles to arrive at a state of compatability with their soul mate. It may be something as simple as getting rid of an alcoholic trait, or quit bad mouthing/be-littlting them in private or public situations, or letting them have the responsibility for seeing that the bills are sent out each month. maybe they think their seen as a sub-servient. If getting intoxicated is the only way/time you communicate your reducing your chance of surviving in a marriage. That just demonstrates a lack of good judgement and can be an indication of an unwillingness to face responsibilites. If you can't get to a talking point on this then make an appointment with a marriage councler and ask your wife to go with you, if she won't then go alone. They can usually drag out the problem areas that exist and suggest feasible solutions. I quit going to wedding as all that I have been to since around 1985 have ended in divorce and primarily because of a lack of maturity and refusal of both parties to rid them-selfs of thier petty child like selfishness and me-me-me attitudes. I kinda think thats why marriages are on the decline. Ooops, getting of subject here. Anyway I suggest you talk to her and feel her out about existing areas in your relationship that are bugging her and what she expects of you. Hope you save this relationship.

Finally got around to replacing the NSS on the AW4 (had a spare laying around) so that the reverse lights work again. The switch was working internally, but, no juice was exiting on the brown & white wire. I think the wire is broke under all that resin sealing the switches back side. I'll find out tomorrow when I chip all the resin out to see whats really inside that thing. If it only needs a little solder I'll have a spare switch again.

Ummm, a 89 XJ 242 trf case speedo drive gear out of a Dodge 89 XJ 4X4 shift bezel indicator
-
When your ready to swap in the correct speedo drive gear here is a source for the gear you need and it's not to far from you. Ive always got quick service from them. With the combo your going to run it looks like you might need the #37 white gear. http://www.transmissioncenter.org/speed ... d_jeep.htm

Agree with yuh. Had reflex liner sprayed in 2 1/2 years ago & stuff don't slide on it & it still look nearly new, sunlight hasn't killed it yet. Being able to still use the corner tie downs is a plus.

I thought those had carburators on them. And if that be the case, TBI won't work without somthing telling it when to squirt.

Maybe you got a bent axle tube. Have you been jumping off hills again?

Somehow on Wednsday the spammers and a virus got through my blockers and wiped out my drive to the point its missing criticl files. In other words it can't find the operating system. It somehow also got into my internal recovery drive and put a hex on it. Damn I wished I had bought some external backup storage, lost all my pics for past several years. So I've parked the HP and took the old Acer back-up off the shelf until I get a new $49 hard drive from Costco.

My knock sensor has been gone for 2 years. Runs fine and no knocks.
