  1. I don’t know if the lengths are the same for bench and bucket seat belts, but the plastic sleeve will come off the belts for the buckets. Measure your belt with the broken buckle from the center of the anchor hole to the end of the buckle, PM it to me and I’ll measure one of the bucket seat belts I’ve got for comparison and PM back to you.
  2. There is allegedly a plug on the Help racks at auto parts stores. The O’Reilly website said they had them at my local store but the counter girl - excuse me - the counter person said not so. A nearby Advance Auto and a farther away Autozone supposedly have them according to their websites. I’d like to know the part was there before I drove there, but past experience tells me the response will probably be “I don’t think we got anything like that”.
  3. Bonkers - maybe it’s the search engine you’re using. I checked their website and all of the links across the top of the page and down the side of the page opened without any problem. I’m certainly no expert on track systems but they’ve got some good testimonials from users/owners that would make me seriously consider them if I were in need of tracks. 4. Thanks to both of you. That’s what I thought, but it just looks cheap.
  5. There is no fill port on the body of the differential. The cover has a rubber plug that looks to be at the right full level. I’ve pried around on the edges but I’m concerned I’ll tear it up getting it out and then have no way to seal the differential. Is the hole possibly threaded so that the rubber plug can be replaced with a pipe plug? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Doesn’t anyone make chrome-trimmed gas, brake and parking brake pedals? 🤔 Gotta admit that dash bezel looks good! Where did you find the chrome marker?
  7. Well, I was changing the timing chain and sprockets when I discovered the bad HB (had to pull it to do the other), which was why I had the radiator, etc. off. May have been able to do that without pulling stuff but having it all out of the way made it easier for me. Took longer, but I didn’t have any time restraint on that job.
  8. I suppose you haven’t had it long enough to start driving like a Type A maniac on steroids, which has been observed in many Prius drivers - 😤. Hopefully, you’ll be the exception (LOL). Never had the urge to go hybrid, but times are a’changing!
  9. SledNeck - My bad! You were referring to the license plate lights. I was thinking tail lights. I’ve opened up a driver side and a passenger side tail light housing, cleaned up the internal part and sprayed them with chrome paint. My plan is to use led bulbs for tails, turns and brakes as well as back-up lamps in hopes I’ll have a lot more light in the rear. Will do the license plate lights also. Don - Thanks for the list. Did you use SuperBright leds?
  10. Thanks, guys. I picked up Valvoline 75W-90 dinosaur oil when Inwas at the Parts place getting seals, brake shoes, etc. May take it back and get the synthetic version. I didn’t see Redline on the shelf so will probably get the Valvoline synthetic.
  11. Which leds did you use (brand, PN, supplier)?
  12. Thanks. No LSD on the truck. Got the diff open and axles out and everything looks good. The shop that the PO used to service the truck put the diff cover back on with just RTV, no gasket. Of course it leaked. Going back on with a gasket and gasket sealer.
  13. I’m pulling the axles from the D35C rear end in my ‘91 Eliminator to replace a leaking driver’s side axle seal. Will replace both seals and possibly the axle bearings depending on condition. The manual calls out a SAE 75W-90 API-GL5 lubricant. Anyone using something different they would recommend. This is a non-daily driver street truck, no off-reading.
  14. If you want to check your balancer, I have photos of the bad one I pulled from ‘88 and the new replacement. PM an e-mail address and I’ll send them to you.
  15. Mechanically speaking, changing the balancer is not very difficult. It just involves removing a lot of stuff, the most problematic of which is draining and removing the radiator. You can check your balancer with an inspection mirror or, if you have room and finger dexterity, by taking photos of it with your phone. I have photos of the bad one I took off of my ‘88 and of the new one I installed for comparison. PM an e-mail address if you’re interested.
  16. No problem, just trying to keep all the posts in one thread.
  17. Admins - there are two threads on this topic, same title, same OP. Can they be combined?
  18. I suggest regulating the air pressure down. If you have some blockage you could blow the core open. Maybe start with 5-10 PSI and work your way up. Also, put a hose on the side you’re not pressurizing and point the end down under the truck in case you blow some crud out of the core. Might save a lot of effort cleaning up the engine bay, not to mention being safer.
  19. Pulling the dash and core is a PITA but not the end of the world. I’ve had the dash out in my old ‘88 and my ‘91 and managed to get it all back together. Just take photos of each step, bag and tag your fasteners as you take them out, and be careful not to pinch vacuum hoses or wires when you go back together. That being said, I’d try everything else first to cure the heat problem. The upside is that heater cores are readily available and not too expensive.
  20. Yeah, Gogmorgo, just kidding about the “you’re used to it” thing. I’m just glad we don’t get much of this cold weather (14 F tonight, 24 high today). This old, fat Southern boy would be headed for the tropics if I had to face the stuff you guys up North see on a regular basis for long periods. And, I’ve noticed over the past several years that the older I get, the worse effect the cold has on me. Luckily, we haven’t had and don’t expect any significant moisture during the projected cold stretch. If we get snow we’re pretty well screwed. No salt trucks, no plows and no one who knows how to drive in the stuff. Stay warm and keep those fingers well protected!
  21. I’m sure it’s worse there, but “you’re used to it” (as we say in the South). Just looked on my phone and we’ve got hard freeze warning for the next 4 days. Practically unheard of down here.
  22. And I thought it was cold here!
  23. Same to you and yours, Eagle.
  24. Don doesn’t allow anything on his MJ to be broken, in poor shape, or even out of place. And, of course, CHROME IS KING!
  25. Not to threadjack but, Dangit, that’s a fine looking radio!
