Thanks! I’m ready to be done with the project. Not much else planned for outside stuff this year. Gearing up for redoing my welding table in the shop though. Highlights include a new (very, very old) bench vice, figuring better grinder storage (I might have too many), and turning a single basin stainless sink into a down-draft table with a small Lincoln fume extractor.

Not much has changed since yesterday, but most of the trim was painted and hung. Outside corner trim is started. I’m leaning towards a green door too. Same green as the funky green on my shop.

Today was a busy day of hanging the remainder of the steel and wood siding. Trim, battens, crawlspace door, and then touch ups left to do.

So rad!! All of it!! I’ve followed this truck since the beginning of the thread and it’s easily one of my favorites on the site. Everything is well thought out and obviously functional. Congratulations on the victory of the entire trip!

Soffits are closed up, steel siding nailers are wrapped up, enough trim to get the drip edge done, and lowers corners are on. Doesn’t quite feel like the home-stretch just yet.

I woke up to 33° this morning. Granted, there’s a high of almost 70°, but it’s definitely coming.

Updates. Battens are mostly done so I started on pulling the rest of the old siding and framing the eves. I threw on the flashing on the back side temporarily. It started sprinkling on me but there’s a factory sealed edge over the front door. The temperature started dropping and the wind picked up. Chance or rain… maybe snow?… tomorrow.

I love seeing consistent updates on this truck again!!

Technically before my time, but I know and appreciate the reference.

Winter is always watching! We got about 1/3 through the pile today before running out if stain. They only had two gallons sitting in the shelf at our local Sherwin and the juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze to run down the hill on a holiday weekend.

Thanks! Feels like a real tipping point to get the majority of the steel work done. My wife asked me to take the day off tomorrow but I compromised with her staining boards with me instead. Next weekend, rehanging the old siding should go fairly quick being it’s all straight cuts with only the windows to cut around.
-
… then I moved all the old siding down the hill for tomorrow’s staining party. My plan is to get the three sides of the house done before opening up the remainder of the siding.

Looks great in its new habitat!

Almost done making up numbers to get some straight lines on this old house. The roof over the kitchen… is what it is. There’s a bit of a “wow” in the middle but I suppose if matches the roof line on the back of the house. The gables are getting kind of a slate blue siding. Kind of tough to capture, but it’s blue. Turning into a big project for such a little house.

Nice! About 56000 years ago at this point (2008? 9?), I drove from MN to Detroit for a pow-wow at Pete’s. Made a few stops along the way and one was at Brent’s place. Got mine direct from the source!

I’ve got the tan and green long sleeve like Mike’s. Still in great shape and still in my usual shirt rotation!

Looks like a great space to start with!

Found some interesting past framing decisions between the main part of the house and the old porch/now kitchen. Spent a bit of the morning cleaning that up. Once that was up to snuff, I started running the nailers for the steel siding. Ran out of material and ran out of gumption for the day.
