I think it's about time to throw some attention at this. I spent the morning removing the '93 XJ underhood wiring... sorry Austin... and then hosed on some degreaser to sit and soak. Everything came out okay. I'll probably try and track down a pressure washer to finish up the firewall and way down in the deep corners. While everything was dripping off, I moved to the interior. Pretty standard here... removed the dash... found three dead mice... started thinking about patching the floor... I'll probably wait on doing any metal work until everything is swapped over from the '91 so I can move it around under its own power. Right now, I'm trying to get everything done and prepped as far as I can before taking the '91 out of commission. Already thinking about finishing too. I haven't done it for a long, long time so I think I'm due for a rattle can paint job. Any suggestions on color?

I've noticed around town that there's a near mint Dakota Sport convertible running around. Actually, he cut me off big time the other day and I almost took it out! Really been thinking about what it would be to do a nice convertible Comanche especially now after Dirteatr's ordeal. It would have to be with the right truck and I'll probably never do it, but it was just more of a "what if" kind of though. I don't even remember what site I found the first video on, but after a small taste I had to see them all! Really... I think I found more amusement out of listening to the guy who's working on the truck. I think he sounds like a Muppet or something. Just about every video has to start with a dopey sounding, "... okay!..." Like most on here, I hate seeing a nice MJ cut up, but... enjoy! That's a '72 standard. The supers had a much wider trunk lid towards the bumper and slightly wider front fenders. Sweet '72! I've got a '72 standard also. Fun little cars fo' sho'. :rock on:

2013 shake down run this morning was great! Just got home from work a few hours ago, but I decided to take the long way home. It was nice... I know I always say that it's like having a conversation with an old friend that you haven't seen in a while, but this afternoon was exactly that. There was something bugging me though. The poor truck was still wearing its "storage dirt". So I figure that since tonight is graduation night for my students, I couldn't let anyone of them out dress me for the evening!

This. If it were my truck and it's always been in the family, I'd try and keep it alive. Being that you also had your axles coming together and wheels/tires already figured out, you should really steady the course.

I was really hoping to start driving the truck again tomorrow... almost happened too. I got rid of a leaking heater control valve along with fixing the leaking thermostat housing and valve cover gasket. All that was left was to change the oil. Low and behold, no filter. Well... I guess I'll start driving it another day this week. :shake: Anyway, always nice to see things just as clean as how I left them under the valve cover: Still need to do a little more clean up under the hood, but that can happen whenever:

You were just about to get the "this thread is useless without pics" smiley, but after all that reading I think this deserves so much more... Welcome! Cool story so far.

On to the real deal for the fans. I rearranged the garage so the Eliminator and Archer switched spots. For mounting the new shroud in the truck, there weren't any surprises being that it was mocked up in the other truck. The mechanical fan came out, and the electric fans went in. I slapped a little foam tape along the top edge of the radiator support just to fill the gap. It wasn't even 1/4" but it fit fairly tight all the way around and the top just bugged me. Everything wired and in place: It's tight, but everything fits with plenty of room between the pulleys and the fans. I haven't really run it with it all together just yet... currently tracing around a coolant leak. I decided to finally get the new gauges working too. Hey, it's only been a year since I first put them there! The oil temperature sensor was just teed in with the pressure sensor. I know... it's not ideal as a bung in the oil pan, but that'll get address if/when I drop the pan next. Same deal for the transmission temperature sensor. Everything works! (The gauge lights are on... I promise.)

Well, it's time to change gears from Archer back to this truck. I've got a few projects that need to be both finished and started. There's the added gauges in the a-pillar, going through the under hood electrical and giving everything a good cleaning, general cleaning and finishing, and getting it to cool properly. Been following along on a bunch of "my truck is overheating" threads so I've got a bunch of things to look at. One thing that I started years ago but just never finished the follow-through is a electric fan setup. Everything is mostly wired, I just needed another fan and to make up a shroud. I mocked things up on Archer since it's easier to work with: Definitely need to do away with the studs: More to come.

How come there's no pictures of the garages?

Totally diggin' what you've got going on. Really reminds me of my old '89 with the mismatched panels. Any information on the white bobbed MJ in the picture? I like the look of the rear cage/tire carrier.
