It does. The switch still clicks so I figure the rod is fine. Thing of it is, I just swapped that column over not that long ago.

Had to go out and check... high beam indicator in the cluster doesn't come on either. Must be the switch.

I was looking at that crooked front end all day and I'm not so sure what to do about it. I measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender flare and on the left front I have 16.5" and 17.25" on the right. The rear sits at 20.5" on the left and 20.75" on the right which is another head scratcher for me. There's no way the rear of the old chassis sat that high. I compared it to mu Eliminator and it only has a couple inches over it. I went through and loosened all the hardware expecting it to settle a little... nothing. Maybe just let it sit for a few days and remeasure things hoping it'll come down some. As for the front, here I thought I was doing the truck a favor by going with the coils from the '99 XJ. The only other coils I have are the mystery coils that came with the truck, a set of 2wd 6 cylinder coils, and some well used and probably saggy 4.5" coils. Maybe try the putting the mystery coils back in and see where things are at. Here's what I have left before it goes back into its daily duty: Swap coils Bleed the brakes... again Figure out why I have no high beams Finish the harness to the taillights Align the brake light switch as the rear stay on unless you pull up on the pedal Top off the tranny Minor metal work on the bed Paint the bed... which may or may not happen before it gets too cold to paint Bedliner... really? Who am I kidding... that's not happening this year Fix the hole in the dash to the light switch can mount in properly Misc. interior finishing/cleaning Build a rear bumper Hang an exhaust Install shocks when they come in Throw some cheapo mirrors on the doors Get a new windshield I'm sure more will pop up as that's my luck with things like this. I didn't get as far as I was hoping this weekend... but that's typical also. Came a long way though as far as little stuff.

Little more done this morning but still more to go this afternoon. I got tired of seeing half a face on this thing so today started with hanging the grill and trim. When it came to the bumper, it got the same graphite paint. Mounting, on the other hand, was another problem. The twisted frame rail really put a bind on getting the bumper on straight. Spacers... long, mismatched hardware... twisting... a fair amount of foul language... Never taking this off ever again as long as I own it. Getting the front all put together made me notice that it sits crooked. Hmm... figure that out later. Next on the list was to make it a truck again. As much as I'd love to be able to say... ... "Yup! Looks good!", I really should do something with the impromptu shed in the yard. Then there was a new problem. Ever try and put a pickup bed on by yourself? Super sketchy. Don't remember the rear sitting so high either. :hmm: Might loosen the spring hardware and see if the bushings are holding things up being that they were tightened down without the weight of the box on it. Those front springs really bug me. It is nice seeing a mostly empty corner of the yard though. Probably more later.

Changed out the switch... still no high beams.

Another day... ... another one tomorrow.

Been a bit of a rainy day... more so than just the weather. I keep running into road blocks with my '91 today so I keep changing tasks on it hoping to just make one more trip into town today. My latest issue was after I put in some new headlights... no high beams. I have low, but no high. All my connections look good as is the underhood fuse. So, before I start tearing into everything, any simple ideas where I should start? I can't imagine it's anything real as everything worked before I swapped over the wiring harness to its new chassis. Thoughts? Thanks guys.

Yeah... you know what I'm talking about. That stupid upper control arm bolt that's WAY in there got the best of me this morning and swallowed up my impact socket. Any tricks out there for getting it out or did I just feed my truck a brand new socket? :fs2:

I like them. My brother works for SPX which owns the Sunpro name so I got the gauges fairly cheap along with their universal two pod mount. It was by no means Jeep specific so I took a heat gun and an a-pillar to form it around. As far as in the way, that's the reason I put them there... so they wouldn't be. They're even with my line of sight which is nice. They don't stick out near far enough to be obstructive while getting in and out. Only real complaint I have about them is that I should've put blue bulbs in them so they better match the rest of the dash.

Electric oil and trans temp:

Hoping to have a big weekend on this. I spent today (with only one trip into town) swapping the front axle, dropping the oil pan, changing out the rear main, and installed some new motor mounts to replace the old two piece units. Had a nice surprise finding the crank bearing looking fantastic. I was told that the XJ it came out of had 220k on it. I'm not so sure about that! Axle came from a '99 XJ. Came with the coils so I decided to use them. Ordered some shocks from RockAuto also. Never ordered anything form them before but I just might do so more in the future. Seems like anytime I need something, I need it yesterday. We'll give it a try anyhow. Until tomorrow...

Lots of good opinions here. I've got about a dozen helmets and I like them all for one reason or another whether it be their flexibility, to how ridged it is, even for how they sit on my head in a given welding application. I've got Miller Elites, a Speedglas 9100XX, I love my three Jackson Nexgens (two in standard Jackson helmets and the other in their lightweight Shadow helmet), a few Lincolns from their checkered past a couple years ago when they introduced the Vista (which I really don't care for) along with their most recent 3350 (which I very much enjoy), a few more Jacksons with EQC lenses, and a bunch of fixed shade lenses in Jackson hoods. My most versatile is probably the Miller Elite just because of the cost to buy matched with the cost of replacement cover lenses. My second favorite and most used are the Jackson Nexgens. They're a little more with the initial cost, but they use standard size cover lenses that can be bought at any fleet supply or hardware store if you're in a pinch and just need to get one. If I were to recommend a helmet to someone, I'd definitely steer them towards a Jackson Nexgen, Miller Elite, or a Lincoln 3350.

For future reference, would the computer know if the air bag was there and throw any goofy codes... or worse... turn on any lights?

40k+ btus? Really? :eek: Been looking at a bunch of online garage heater calculators and finding around 15k on propane once everything is insulated.

Quite the soapbox you've got there, and I see where you're coming from... but I'm not going to be that guy with the city. My neighbor is that guy and it's every project that he wants to do that the city is constantly crawling up his @$$ with every inspection and every permit. I've got a lot of plans for my property and I want to keep things as smooth as possible in the future. Not saying that I'm a kiss-@$$ when it comes to the city and that's the reason why I hooked up to sewer, but the noisy wheel always gets the grease. With that, my system needed an update sooner than later on top of the requirement of hooking up. My tank wasn't dug in deep enough for today's standards, and it's too small for the size of the house. Granted, it's just the wife and I living there so it'd probably be fine, but I'm always trying to think about the next guy. If I'm going to front the cash to dig up my old tank, replace it with bigger, plumb it, work in a new lift station, have it all inspected, and then deal with redoing my yard, I'd just assume let the city take care of where my $#!& goes. I'm at the end of the line in the system too so I doubt that I'd ever have to deal with any back-ups. I know that there's fine print and I know that there's always a way out, but when I would've had to spend much more to update everything on the property and then maintain it myself in the future, I just don't see the logic. Been thinking about infrared heaters last night and this morning. Figuring my stall is 14'x28' with a 10' ceiling, how big of a heating unit would one figure on looking into? 5000 watt max, 220v. Another issue I've been thinking about. The roof above the garage stall is right at a valley that fills with snow. Nope. No natural gas. Us and our few neighbors are all required to hook up to city sewer before November, but otherwise no utilities where I'm at. Getting the impression I should hold off with anything until I insulate. If I were to crank up the heat before going out, I'd just assume keep the kerosene heater for and tough out another season.

Nope... no insulation for this year. :( I heard that electric heaters are cheap enough to run when they're on a thermostat and are just maintaining a constant temp. :dunno: Trying to stay away from anything that runs on a fuel gas if I can. The house is on LP and it already gets filled and refilled enough.
