  1. The saga continues. The attic above the house got some more insulation and I had some left over... figured I'd start on finishing the garage and put the rest up there. Had to give it somewhere to go so I started hanging some pole barn siding. Really made the sag in the ceiling joists stand out... I still have to trim out everything along with another third of the ceiling. ... one bite at a time.
  2. I need to get back up to the north country again! Looks like you guys had an awesome time! Good looking rig... good looking trail... good looking bumper you've got there too! :D
  3. From earlier... I hit them with some graphite color paint and I think they look good. Oddly enough, I've wanted to have a truck with these wheels on it for some time now! :rock on: I think they'll fit in with the dorky simple feel of the truck.
  4. I bet you forgot about this one! Well... I know I have been lately. Been really busy trying to do some last minute house work before the winter when I need to get this done before winter also. Local place had an awesome deal on some tires this week so I had to partake. Picked up some Cooper Discover HTs in a 235 variety on some steelies. Need to work on some garage stuff so they're staying in the ZJ for now. I'll take a picture later on... probably. :D

    Zj Review

I really have no real complaints about my '95 ZJ other than it's a family truckster and I'd rather not have it. Found a nice review on the first gen Grands and couldn't help but share. :rotfl2:
  6. Couldn't help but notice that you have two of those... look awfully goofy wearing two of them at the same time, wouldn't you think? I couldn't imagine what one would do with two pins like that. :peek:
  7. You ever seem seal the driver's floor pan?
  8. Do you borrow for extended periods of time or just kind of a day-to-day type of deal?
  9. Does it come with everything that it had in it when I saw it last when it was serving its purpose as "mobile shed"?... pop-up light bar?
  10. :( Sad... but probably for the best. Wouldn't want to bring another rusty-disease spreading truck into a clean environment.
  11. You've got to think about how a company would go about doing this. If I were to design a bolt on hitch assembly that's user friendly for installation, I'd tie it in to just the side bolts so the installer wouldn't have to pull the entire bumper off their vehicle. All of the bolt on MJ hitches that I've physically looked at been bolted on the outside of the bumper brackets. Same thing goes for the side brackets... has to be easy. If a company were to go with 1/4" material for brackets, there's potentially going to be a little bit of flex in them that you can use to your advantage for getting things to fit without too much fuss. Even in most instruction manuals they're usually going to tell you to get all of your hardware started on each side and then tighten things us. Say if you were to tighten one side and then move over to the other, the bolts just might be long enough to start. That little bit of flex in the brackets can also act to "self centering" the hitch. Anyhow... there I go mentally planning hitch design details... I think you'll be just fine mounting a hitch on the outside of the bumper brackets. Unless you're planning some major hauling with your truck, I really wouldn't worry about tying into every single bolt you can.
  12. It's more that I'm busy with other matters that are more important than camping. Busy... busy... :fs2:
  13. Thanks! Just about a year since an update too! Good enough time as any, I suppose... Nothing has happened with this. Still needs tires. Still needs a few final touches. Been too busy to take it out and enjoy it. Sad, really... Still around though!
  14. ^This. :crossfingers: Also good to see another cool truck coming into CC!
  15. Hypothetically thinking, figure an unpainted unit that'd be shipped right to your door. If there was to be a short run produced what would an acceptable price be?
  16. Nope... that's factory XJ/MJ also. If anyone is planning on looking at this, I'd love to have some good pictures showing the bottom of the brushguard and how everything mounts up!
  17. And get rid of those beautiful stripes?!
  18. I remember the day I hit a deer with my old '89... actually, it was TWO deer at the same time! It was early and I was on my way into work when a couple garden eaters jumped out into the street. I hardly left my neighborhood when everything happened. The one got hit on the right side and it spun around pretty good. The other hit the left side and I felt a "bump, bump" rolling over it with both tires on that side. Pulled over, got out, and did a quick damage control. "Did I even hit them?!" Sure enough, the first deer didn't really do anything more than wrinkle my license plate and crack the corner light. The other one was a puddle in the road leaving a bunch of guts hanging from my winch hook and all sorts of hair and crap in the siping of the tires. The rocker was coated in pieces of deer and whatever didn't splash up along the truck was smashed up in the rear wheel well and bumper. What a surprise for the neighborhood kids who wait for the school bus! I miss that truck.
  19. Looking good!... I want one.
  20. The Farmer? Eh... it's been done already. http://comancheclub.com/topic/24325-the-farmer/
  21. Sorry, Pete but I really only modify things that I like. Don't much care for yard work so all I do is change the oil, sharpen the blades, and put gas in it. We'll see what happens next year when I start cleaning up the yard and making it how I want. As for the liquor cabinet... it's done! I had some other work to take care of this morning but I still managed to throw a few hours at it. Then Robyn got home from work and then things really started happening! The feet are actually wooden post toppers flipped upside down: Then some other stuff happened and the whole works got put outside for some decent pictures: Made it to its new home: We already moved everything over from the old cupboard above the refrigerator and guess what?... plenty more space than before! :group beer:
  22. Thanks, Don! Yup... reusing the original hinges, but I did take the finish off of them. They had kind of a neat little design in them that was just barely poking out through the caked on layers of paint. They got a new coat of hammered black to match the new handles going on it. That cabinet looks great, Marcel! However in my case, anyone who really knows me knows that I really don't care for wood working. Give me a torch and a grinder and I'll build you anything you want, but when it comes to the stuff that grows in trees I'm really more of a if it HAS to be done I'll do it kind of guy. Beetle as requested... and because I welcome any opportunity to show it off:
  23. Here we are, gents!... another month of MJOTM is upon us! For those who didn’t notice from what was left of last month, we’ve had a bit of a change over. The tear down Round II ensues And the rebuild draws to a close  Best MJ story: I'm torn between two short stories. The first is that before the 99' swap, the truck was still 2wd. A trio of girls got stuck in a ditch on a rainy evening right outside of campus. One of my buddies called me and told me to bring the 'Manche over. A bunch guys were over there in there jacked up Nissan's and Toyota's and such but no one could seem to get them out; they just kept spinning their tires. I pulled up, they all kind looked over with expressions like "Is this guy serious?" So I hooked up the tow strap, and pulled them out first try. Everybody just kind of stared. Hail the mighty 4.O! The second is when people ask me what I drive I promptly say, "A Jeep truck." They fire back with, "Jeep never made a truck!" Never fails to get a smile out of me :rotf: What owner loves best about CC: The camaraderie. It's like a frat for Jeeps :rotfl2: Jeep on friends  ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● Ryan, I’m super happy to be the first to say congratulations! Between you and your dad, it truly is an amazing transformation you’ve done not once but twice on this truck. “Twice?” you might say?! Yup!... threads: Stage 1: http://comancheclub.com/topic/10884-89-mj-the-christmas-jeep/ Stage 2: http://comancheclub.com/topic/38131-89-99-conversion-picture-heavy-version/ So there you have it. This is your MJOTM for September, CC! Have a look… say some stuff… all that good stuff. Congrats, Ryan! You deserve it! -Ben
