My shop teacher turned me loose in class today, and I've wanted this nameplate for a while. The plastic ones from 4WD Hardware are like $21 a piece, so I took matters into my own hands. http://sphotos-b.xx....312695738_o.jpg Any suggestions on what to paint it with? I'm not good with paint. I might just make several for when i get the time, and would be willing to share.....

Hm, that's a pretty good idea

Ha sorry, I didn't mean to take credit or anything, I just noticed it and got all excited.

Its night time in the scene, I think its when Lloyd takes a wrong turn in the dog van hahaha but its the rear end of the Comanche that you see, I recognized the tail lights and there's a kabillion Jeeps in the movie so it makes sense to me. I wish I had the full movie at my house...

I'm pretty sure theres a Comanche sitting in traffic in one scene on Lloyd and Barry's way to Aspen (if youve seen the movie, its one of my favorites haha), but I can't get a picture. My dad also said there's a Comanche in a scene of a Breaking Bad episode parked in a parking lot, but I haven't seen it yet.

U-Bolt Flip. Anyone Running One?
JFAComanche6 replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why are you doing this? Just out of curiousity... -
Are all AW4's a 21 spline output shaft, or did they also change in 89? If they still are 21 spline, is it possible to find an NP231 stock bolted onto an AW4? I'm wondering this in case they're easier to find at the jy, because there tend to be lots of 4wd automatic XJs.

I just have people ask me, "Why does it say Jeep on it if it's a truck?" Well, maybe because it's a pickup truck built by Jeep, but I just say its a 1989 Jeep Comanche and they say, "Oh, thats cool!" I like how available and cheap most parts are for my MJ and its super fun to go mudding with. Some jobs on a Comanche are definately easier to do than others, but everyone who knows about comanches will agree they run forever with a bit of maintenence, or just tell me,"Man, a Comanche is a damn good truck".

There's this cool stethascope thing my friend has for this type of thing, it's a real thin rod with a stethascope attached to it. It can find all kinds of noises, like squeaky pulleys and knocking rods and whatnot.

Good point.

Mi - Looking For 91 And Older Auto. 4X4 Parts
JFAComanche6 replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in Wanted
Dang, $375 for all that except the transmission is a steal if you ask me. I paid $275 for my trans/t-case, and $200 for my front axle. the driveshafts were another $100, including all the work done to the rear ds. -
What he means is your problem might not be the ecu if you give more info on whatever problem yor truck is having.

Noob Here W/an 87 Comanche
JFAComanche6 replied to 54bobby's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I absolutely love the interior on your Comanche, I want a truck with a red interior so bad! Especially my MJ. -
22mpg for something that small does kinda suck, but like I said, a good backup vehicle. I hope you get your Comanche built, its a great experience to rebuild an MJ.
-
If theres one thing that pissed me off the most about my 2wd MJ, it was getting stuck on wet grass. It happened often and was just...embarassing. That and half the parts on it were rotten. That Isuzu looks like a good truck for a backup vehicle though.

Death wobble is when your front end jerks side to side really, really rapidly and makes you feel like you're about to puke your heart out. You could have a bad tie rod end, but it sounds more to me like your tires need to be balanced. I've had this same problem (Death Wobble and unbalanced tires). To check your tie rod ends, take a long breaker bar, brace it against anything under the truck, and push against the top of any tie rod. It shouldn't move at all. Replace it if it does. I'd take it to Discount Tire to see about the wheels being balanced though. -
My clutch is crapping out on me and I'd like to save some money on a kit, including the throwout bearing, friction plate, and clutch. This is for my Peugeot BA 10/5 transmission, I'm willing to spend $100 max. So if anyone by chance has a kit lying around, let me know. Thanks.

The only time I want an automatic is in bumber to bumper traffic. Otherwise, I hate automatics. Ive ridden dirt bikes for years, so a manual transmission wasn't new to me. Girls on the other hand...I'm not sure what their deal is, but every time I tried to teach a girl how to drive my MJ (which didnt happen often) they'd get nervous and say they wanted to learn later. Oh well, Comanches are a man's truck anyways.

I don't like buying electrical parts from the jy, but $2 versus $62 is a lot better for these stupid sensors. I guess one could buy about 4 of these sensors if they broke again.

Leaking Fuel Injectors
JFAComanche6 replied to daltonmcgill7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you put them on all the way into the fuel rail and head, they shouldnt leak. I don't remember where I got them, but I got 6 rebuilt high-impedance injectors for $120 and they work great, I gained power but lost a little mpg. They snapped into the head real easy, but I sprayed carbeurator cleaner on the rail-end injectors (because it was a tight fit) and the whole thing slipped on. I believe the black rings go on the rail-end and the brown ones go in the head. -
That green sensor with the two prongs sticking out of it is for sure the knock sensor. And holy crap, those got expensive! They're on rockauto.com for about $60 without shipping.

Just buy a Comanche and sell it if you don't like it. I guarantee someone will buy it.

Who shivs a git? it's an obnoxious Jeep! That thing would never get unstuck if it sunk in the mud though.
