  1. I bet I could knock about 5k off the price after "test driving" it at my house for about 5 minutes. That MJ is too clean.
  2. I can sort of weld aluminum, but is it a good idea with cast aluminum? I would love to just replace it even though the t-case works perfect, but I don't have a job yet.
  3. My NP231 transfer case has a bunch of JBweld on the bottom from the previous owner (the t-case works fine, I'm assuming its just a small crack) and I'm just wondering if theres a better way to seal it. It keeps leaking now and I'm tired of it.
  4. You could totally paint that.
  5. Junkyard. I got mine out of a Cherokee Country in good condition for like, $20.
  6. How could the driveshaft be too long? I had to cut the CV joint off my front ds because it was too long with the cv joint on it, so would that be a problem? My 4wd doesnt act weird or anything, only when I make a sharp turn the front end jumps around a little but I believe thats a normal 4wd thing...
  7. Nope, I guarantee you this one was a dummy light gas guage. It was a light with a giant gas pump on it.
  8. Ha, so are you saying I need to jump up and down in my truck's bed every morning to slosh all the refuse out of the way? Jk, but I agree with what you're saying, the first thing I bought for my $200 Comanche was a brand new $150 gas tank (rockauto.com) because the old one had rusted out.
  9. Go to the classifieds section and post a wanted ad or look at other for sale ads. I guarantee you can find the tail light, no guarantees it will be cheap though.
  10. It might be uggly and sloppy, but I'm glad I cut an extra hole for the YJ 4wd linkage. Just put the t-case in 2wd, loosen one bolt, push the shift lever all the way forward, and tighten the bolt. Ta-dah.
  11. The 5.2 Dodge engine is pretty dang fast, my friend has a 5.2 (magnum)/AW4 in his 2wd 93 Dakota and he can barely keep the rear end straight when he gives it some gas. Its a sweet engine, but is it very reliable? My buddy needs to rebuild his 5.2, and Ive seen lots of ZJs on Craigslist that need their 5.2 V8 rebuilt.
  12. I got a rust-free fuel sending unit from the jy for a dummy-light dash and it works fine with my needle gauge.
  13. Okay, but do I have to do all that work like the link in Geonovast's profile? Or is it an okay idea to just run a vacuum hose straight to it? I'm a lazy and broke kid, by the way.
  14. Would that cut down my MPG or wear my front axle out faster? it was locked in because of a bad vacuum switch, but I replaced the switch. Should I run a hose straight from the engine to the vacuum motor?
  15. Hm, good idea...so out of curiousity, if I put a solid ds on an sye, something would probably get broken, right?
  16. The BA10/5 makes all kinds of fun noises sometimes, but Ive had a 2wd and 4wd Peugeot tranny and neither have left me stranded. The clutch is a piece though.
  17. Check a junkyard first, I got a brand new (somehow) sending unit from the junkyark for like $30, but Ive heard of custom sending unit makers. You'll have to ask other members about where to find them though.
  18. My conversion went great, but make sure you get a decent vaccuum harness for the front disconnect axle. I snap those stupid hoses every time I mess with my transfer case, but they're easily repaired. Theres a sweet replacement cable that you pull from inside the cab made by AlloyUSA for about $160 to solve the vaccuum harness crap, if you have $160.
  19. Yes, I pulled my transmission yesterday for the 2nd time and just recently had to figure this out myself. It saved me about 2 hours from the previous time, but it still takes forever and a day to pull a 4wd tranny (fyi to anyone thinking to convert a 2wd to 4wd).
  20. I know the ax15 is better but I wanna stay with the 10/5, I'll remember that place though, thanks.
  21. COMPLETELY agreed. its what makes a Comanche worth it.
  22. I have a 2wd 10/5 and have been told of a way to do a 4wd conversion with a 4wd tailhousing on the 2wd tranny with some cutting. I just want a parts or complete transmission, I'm only doing this to try it. Id like to just spend $50 at most or at least get a junked transmission out of someones way. I'm in the north Texas area. I guess if someone has a good 4wd 10/5 that doesnt make much noise I'd make an offer, just let me know. Thanks
  23. wouldnt wheel spacers help?
  24. Usually, if you put on a new or good master or slave cylinder, put it all together, and pump the clutch pedal like crazy and it will bleed itself. but do it then wait a couple hours between pumping, Id say 3 or 4 times is good.
  25. Where do you live?
