  1. The HB should look about 1/4-ish inch from the engine.
  2. Perfect, just perfect.....
  3. Hell yeah, I want them horns on my hood!
  4. I had this problem, the HB slid back and cut a huge griive in my TC cover, but it squeaked like crazy and got quieter the longer the engine ran (due to the metal being removed from between the parts). I'd make sure that HB isn't too close to the engine.
  5. That would SUUUUUUUUCK
  6. My dad would make me drive his 2006 Civic to save gas and I hate driving that thing. My Explorer is fully loaded too but I still love driving the Comanche more.
  7. Well, I've never messed with the rear brakelines on my MJ (thank God) but all I can think of is check for leaks. I also heard that stupid proportioning valve is a piece. Sounds like you might have wanted to keep it for a while though, I know I would be thinking so haha
  8. Doesn't surprise me that theres a core charge, it's a rebuildable part. The JY's around me do cores on lots of parts like axles, A/C's, starters, alternators, engines, tranny's, etc.
  9. Yea I was wondering, that looks like a lot of money sitting in all those boxes haha but I'd like one someday just because they look cool, I'm not sure how bright they really are. I'd like some daylighters first anyways :D
  10. I honestly would like to keep the 3.73 ratio if possible. I could easily run some 31's with a 3 inch lift with that ratio, right?
  11. Yea I have a 97 right now with a 3.73 rear end (I think) and the disc brakes. I wanna get a 4wd donor Explorer possibly someday or if the engine/transmission in my current Explorer lets loose, the Comanche will probably get a new rear end and be my DD again. Are the brakes pretty easy to hook up to the MJ's system?
  12. The axle does look pretty narrow, though. I guess I'd have to measure it. But as far as toughness, it's a pretty good rear end?
  13. Has anyone ever put a rear axle from an Explorer in a Comanche? I've heard of people putting the 5.0 v8 engines in their Wranglers, but I was looking at the rear axle of my Explorer and it's way bigger than my D35, giving me a couple ideas..... :brows:
  14. Understandable, I honestly don't expect an engine as old and big as the Renix 4.0 getting decent city mileage then. I wouldn't bother trying personally, I'd ride my bike everywhere if I didn't live 10 miles from anything.
  15. Go faster  Seriously, see what 60 mph does for you.
  16. Agreed.
  17. I just bought an 97 Ford Explorer with power everything, cruise, and an auto tranny. It is nice, but my MJ has proven to be just a good truck to drive around, just not as smooth as the Explorer's 2wd suspension with with 60k less miles on it than the Comanche's.

    Model Mj

They have ads for the real big ones in the back of all kinds of truck magazines.
  19. This exact same thing happened to me, but my door still closed. It just sagged so I was able to beat the broken door hinge back into the frame and weld it back on. It's obviously a lot more bodywork than I'd want to deal with, but at least you're not the only one.
  20. If it doesn't cause a problem, I won't try to do anything about it. I've figured that much out so far haha
  21. My transmission holds fliud good but the t-case definately leaks. I usually keep both pretty full.
  22. Mine makes a noise like I've got a chain dragging under my tranny in 5th gear. And it sounds like I have a supercharger in gears 1, 2, and 3. I figure I'll just drive it until there's some kind of problem, then I'll have to do some improvisions to the 2wd tranny I still have if I can't find a 4wd 10/5.
  23. ^^Now THAT is genius politics!^^
  24. I'd say to swap in an inline 6 only if you want the H.O. engine. Otherwise, it's more sensible to buy an MJ with an inline 6 already in it. IMO.
