  1. i would not drill an oval hole! that is going to cause sever deathwobble having all that room to move around I redrilled my axle when i first lifted my truck almost an inch over. that was with my 2wd axle i have the same issue with my trackbar now (rustys) I plan on trying out that trackbar relocation where it goes on top of the axle instead of under it. That is what I thought when he told me   I had to drill out the hole to fit the 14mm (9/16") bolt. Only talking 1/4" more threads then they say to have, going to try to split the difference and see how much the axle is out with 5/8" of threads showing  1/8" is about 2-3 threads more exposed
  2. Were you able to go over enough to have all good metal to drill, or did you end up with an oval hole??
  3. We just put on the new Rockkrawler servere duty track bar last night. After we got the axle centered under the MJ we have 3/4" of threads showing past the jam nut, they say not to have more then 1/2" of threads showing. I call today and they told me that I was using trying to use a XJ track bar for the MJ then told me to re-drill the lower track bar mounting hole over a little and mount it back in :headpop: :headpop: Anoyne else use a rockkrawler track bar, and if so did you have any problems??? Also anyone make the trackber hole larger without having problems

    Myth...

Everything I have ever seen in photos or war footage showes Jeeps leaving the factory assembled and loaded on ships RTD or with the tires packed on top in a open crate the Jeep was in. :???:
  6. :huh???: The post subject is dead.... He told us what he was going to do and a fellow club member got roasted on the fire for it. I do not like the fact that someone who would have loved the MJ did not get it  but I know he will like his new ride  I just hope he will stay around as the Ranger forum is full of
  7. Yes, P205 tigerpaws 8)
  8. That is so true :D Tire size was 205"s and the same tires that came on it, It was off the lot new and I could only take it for 24 months  I paid big time to trade it back in, but just could not take it anymore

    09 trucks

Yes, but you know we will have to bite it some time. Just look at how things have changed from when we were young :D If you recall electric wipers were hi-tech and was going to be hard for you to work on  Boy I miss the vac wipers and how you could make them stop when you would take off from a light ;)
  10. Sure you can. Just cut the t-case end of the shaft. I'm running a cut down isolator shaft on my 88. How did you cut it down? I have been told a few times that the heat from cutting and rewelding it will degrade the rubber and make it likely to fail. I took ours to a DS shop. He cut off from the other end balanced it for $40. Told me he has done many with the isolator, and NO need to retube.
  11. You get 32mpg  I have a 78mile round trip and the 4 cyl 2wd S-10 only got 23mpg  My 88 Ranger 2wd with 2.9 v6 got 24mpg and my current 4.0 Ranger supercab 4wd gets 20mpg  Go for the Ranger it will make you a good truck  but if you get a chance do sale the MJ to someone that loves it
  12. Ever find someone with a YJ in a field they want to give away let me know :D I want to get one and put a 2.5 or a small diesel in for a cheep DD
  13. I had the 2.2 and auto iin my S-10, if you put 50# in the back you had to get out and push it to get it going down hill :D My Ranger is a 4.0 with 5 speed and 3.73's drop 1,200# in it and it will ask for more
  14. For my area sounds CHEEP
  15. I will have to say I have had a S-10, Dakota, and I am on my second Ranger. My first Ranger was a 2wd 88 and did not like it until after I had my S-10 and Dakota  now the 4wd Ranger I have has 182,000 on it and I love it :D
  16. I have used Craftsman for 35 yrs and they are good, but over the past few years I have been getting some Kobalt and have to say I do like them. And have only had one break to date. And then it broke after everything else I had already broke  Also I have a Duralast breaker bar that I would not trade for anything. And it has outlasted 2 Craftsman breaker bars, so I am not sure who makes it for them.
  17. I know the pain, If I drive the Ranger at 19mpg to work, it takes $55 to fill up at 2 tanks a week :ack: So I drive my Capri and keep thinking about a YJ with a little diesel for a DD :D
  18. We don't, but most everyone else takes it to have all that done  Last 2 new cars I have seen are the same way
  19. Anyone go / went to University of Northwestern Ohio? My son is taking a look at them and dad wants to know more about them, and where my $$$ would be going to :D

    Stan Meyers

The guy is right in town  you would have thought the local news would have had something on him as much as they cover the OSU students working on fuel cell cars. And as large as Grove City is, should have ran into the guy at the local Sonic
  21. Are you talking about the socket going into the tail / brack light???

    Slime!

Yes, when I got my Ranger last year the one tire and 8 plugs stuck in a hole high on the side wall  And yes, lawyers love lawsuits

    Slime!

What is wrong with plugs?? Been using them for 30 yrs without problems, maybe I am just lucky :D
  24. Wish they would build one so I could get something with good fuel milage :D Got a bad feeling gas is going to be very high this spring  and a nice jeep that could get mpg's in the high 20's would be great :brows:

    Auto Zone

Depending on what you have, you can not count on OEM parts for older trucks. About 2 yrs ago the fuel pump on my 96 Ram went out. When I went to replace it, I damaged the plastic fuel line going to the pump. I thought I would just go to Dodge and save the trouble of trying to get something from Auto Zone  I went into Dodge and told him what I needed and he looked at me and said that it was to old of a truck and go to NAPA or Auto Zone  I told him that the truck was only 9yrs old, then he told me that anything older then 7yrs was hard to get parts for, big "C" did not like to keep a big stock of old parts around:nuts: About 2 weeks later I went to GM and got a new seat frame for a 13yr old truck w/o any problem.
