Are looking at the re-gearing, just with the re-gearing and all the other items the MJ needs is more then the YJ I have been looking at  The cold hard facts are I can only help him a little with $$$ and he has to hande the rest of the cost, and with the student loan problems now all his extra $$$ needs to go to the school fund.
-
I told him that might work, but he wants to stay with a Jeep ;) and they want a lot of $$$ for them in our area, about 1,000 more then a YJ

Yes, I do not like it but we need it to keep from going over the edge. Right now we have 2 large banks in Ohio ready to over the edge. If they do and end up being taken over by a bank already in the area, a LOT of people will be out of a job. The more people out of a job = less tax being paid. Less tax being paid = more state cut backs / layoffs. More state employees out of a job = less shopping / eating out. And then more people layed off in that area and so on. I work for the state, which is the largest employer in the state. We just had a large budget cut and layoff last Feb. Now we are looking at another round anyday  My daughter works at DQ and they see the drop in people eating out and she keeps getting sent home early  And I do not want to even talk about what our 401K did Monday

And son, I know you will read all the post here soon, listen to what they are saying 8)

Thanks, Looks like I need to work on him and try to get him over the Jeep thing :D He needs a DD that gets 20mpg or better, dependable and can get through the snow as they have a hard time plowing the roads in the area :chillin: As my Ranger SuperCab 4x4 makes 20mpg and the wifes ZJ with 5.2 makes 16.5 I sure would have thought the yj would have been around 22mpg. To bad I could not get a YJ and put a diesel from a Libby in :brows: And yes Pet I know about the mini-vans. Trying to talk my wife into trading the Zj in on another one for the family car ;) She likes the 36 she makes with the Tracer but is sucks when we all go some where in it  and she never wants to put gas in the ZJ. Kind of funny on the MPG side of things, just last night my wife and I were talking about all the new 09 stuff that is out and how they say it gets great MPG's  I told my wife that our 89 grand carvan got 24mpg and the 91 Olds Cutlass Supreme I drive to work everyday makes 29mpg and that now we should see the same size vehicles making 30+ ;)
-
Thanks, It would be a DD, no lift as one 9 mpg Jeep is more then enough  Thought it would be more as the MJ got 27 prior to the lift and the 4x4, 4.0 HO swap.
-
Looking for a DD that can get 20mpg or better for the kid, and he only wants a Jeep  Anyone know what MPG a YJ with a 2.5 and auto is??? Also anyone in the Vienna Virginia area???
-
We are looking at all the options right now. If he can get a job  so he can pay for a DD, insurance and tags that may work :brows: But right now we have 6 cars / trucks parked in the drive, I am paying insurance and tags on 4 so I am not much help 8)
-
I would do cart wheels for $3,500 :D
-
Due to the fact that the boy needs aomething better then 10mpg as a DD the MJ is going up for sale  In this area I have seen rust bucket MJ's go for $2,500 at the auction  But what would a 89 with a 92 4.0 HO aw4 and 7" lift go for?
-
Everytime they shut down the golf cost, they tell us in the midwest that most all the gas comes from the golf cost and that is why we have to pay more for gas. Also have seen that all the gas in FL is from the golf cost  Now we and FL have all the gas we need and I have seen over the past couple days where you can not get gas in areas of TN, GA, AL, NC, SC & VA  Me thinks something is not right
-
Down to $3.69 here, but I keep watching about all the areas down south with out any gas
-
Thanks, That is what I am looking for.

Will XJ spring shackles fit on a MJ??? Want to take some of the rake out of the MJ.
-
It's a 8.8 rear, just changed the fluid in the rear when we got it. Did not check anything inside.
-
Yes, everything was done by the book, we took a lot of time on the rear DS so we would not have a problem  We have been fighting it from day one. First thought it was a bad T-case so put the backup in. Then thought it was the front DS to took it out and went for a drive and no change  so thought it may have been the tork convertor so switched out the trans and tork converter with the backup trans and tork convertor and the same problem  So we took the rear DS out yesterday and took it for a drive and it drove so smoth  Also if you get into it hard from a dead stop it has real bad vibs  infact it's more like a pounding
-
Yes and Yes. The only time it has the vibs is between 50-60 mph and when ever the load is reduced on the drive line. Let up on the gas of speed up so you load it up and all is OK  Thought about a T-case drop kit to take some of the angle out.
-
What is the max angle on the rear DS that is working for everyone. The DS vibes we have on the 7.5” lift between 50-60 is just too much. Want to see if we can work out something prior to spending the big $$$ on a SYE and Tom Woods DS
-
What is wrong with 28MPG???? I get 32mpg  That is down hill with the 4.0 off :D The down side is 2 mpg going up the other side :jump:
-
Great, PM me with the details after you check
-
Yes, Made the 89 2.5 to 92 4.0 swap.

Well, getting the gauge going in the right direction is a good start. The reason for the inaccuracy is the resistance value of the potentiometer, the input sensitivity of the fuel gauge, and the upper and lower travel limits of the float arm. If I had a sending unit of each, I could compensate with either parallel or series resistor packs to provide reasonable accurate fuel gauge readings. But, I no have........ Interesting problem though. Thanks, That is the answer as to why my unit did not work. You colud not tell the difference between the 2 but was way off, that's the answer to why. Now jsut to find a used one.
-
Could not get the MJ float arm to work, and tired of the pull and bend the float arm and see if you have it right gig  This is not a weekend rig but his DD and in 12 months he will be driving to college each weekend on a 112 mile drive with a 50 mile drive through a black hole with little to no cell coverage and not many people.
-
I did try to build a unit using a MJ cage and XJ sending unit. It worked the right direction but was also way off on the amount of gas in the tank  Not good if you are 25 miles away from gas at night :redX:
-
If it were a 2 wire system it would work, but the ground on the sending unit grounds to the pump cage to the tank to the bed
