1988 Jeep Comanche Aka The Penny Sniffer ,pic Heavy
Zebvance replied to Zebvance's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
still waiting on the replacement tie rod end from Serious offroad. Finally shipped yesterday. Hopefully next weekend I will have the time to put the steering on, tighten everything up and take her for a spin around the block to get a alignment. Does anybody know if they adjust your track bar also when getting a alignment? -
Pictures would be helpful. I don't think that cherokee spring would have physically been able to bolt up. I believe they are shorter
-
Why might you be asking jim? Are you adding another MJ to the comanche farm?

couple day time shots.. -
I was swapping in this new axle this weekend to my 1988 4wd mj. When I got the truck it had a 2001 cherokee d30 under it. when I went to put my tires and rims on the tj axle the lugs were not long enough? about 1/4-1/2" to short. So I put the 2001 hubs on the 1997 Tj axle. Brakes and everything went on fine but I did notice that the hubs were different in depth along with the difference in length of the studs. The brake calipers, and rotors are from the 2001 xj d30. Any for seeable issues I will have? I can't rotate the rotor more than about a inch back and forth cause the locker. but it doesn't look like anything is making contact where is shouldnt.

Still got to put the 1 ton steering back on and retighten everything, then order the custom driveshaft. But it's been a long time coming. Parts and tires sitting for two years. She is finally sitting one 35inch Baja claws and 9.5" of lift. Gunna be the baddest beach rig on Matagorda island. -

RC bumper, Stinger or light bar?
Zebvance replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
snorkels are not dumb if they are on there for a purpose and not just for show...... If you use it and it has saved you (as has mine) from locking up your engine Ill look "idiotic" all day. -
no problems with that at all. Just make sure to measure from outside in when making mounting locations for the spring perches and shock mounts. I have seen it too many times where guys go center to out side with there measurements and don't realize until the axle is under the truck that the axle sticking out further on one side vs the other.

I paid 200 for mine pulled. had brakes and everything. they looked good but I went ahead and replaced everything anyway. The ebrake pads were a PIA to replace....
-
I did a 8.8 swap with 4.10, never found one with the posi unfortunately but got a locker to throw in it when I get the time. I am very happy with it. The disk brake conversion was the biggest plus besides strength.

Damn Zeb, that's kind of a douchebag thing to post....... The jeep IS the roof over his head at the moment and he's clearly stated his situation is temporary and looking up. He needs support, not a scolding. Not trying to be that "guy" I just am trying to state the obvious, The jeep is a luxury, a roof and food in his family's mouth is a necessity. It all about priority. I wasn't trying to beat the guy when he is down just trying to tell it how it is. I hope to the fullest that he bounces back from this 110%. But thats not possible when you are spending the extra money you have on a "luxury" instead of saving it up to get a deposit for a place to rent or for a nice suit to go to interviews in. Also, I AM trying to support him to the fullest, I was one of the people that donated money to him to keep his family under a roof.

your jeep should be the least of your concern right now. You have a family to support and you don't have a roof over your head......

Page 2 and 3 of my build tread list the issues I had with them. Customer service was terrible, was not impressed by the quality. Go with the ceramic coated, for have it coated your self. paint will flake off after the first 25 miles and start rusting. I haven't heard of anyone else really having the issues I had so maybe you won't run into the problems I did.... here is the link: http://comancheclub.com/topic/34531-1988-jeep-comanche-aka-the-penny-sniffer-pic-heavy/page-2 -
same post up as this one below http://comancheclub.com/topic/49390-25-300hp-las-vegas/ I think the dude is full of it and his butt dyno needs to be re-calibrated.... No way that thing has 300+ hp. I would put my first unborn child on it.....
-
Unless I'm mistaken, The renix 4.0 has non adjustable timing.
-
maybe he is counting each sticker as adding 5hp?? :dunno:
-
300+ Hp out of a natural asperated 2.5???? I have a very hard time believing that. Maybe with the help of a turbo and/or supercharger and a fully built rediculiously stroked 2.5L, I guess could be possible. I would for sure want some dyno sheets on that....
-
would hate to do a gear change on that vehicle. Wallet would be screaming.
-
are they bolt up friendly with the factory mj bucket brackets?
-
I had the same problem with my set up from serious offroad. The I didnt have enough room to put the pin through with the castle nut. So I just turned the nut upside down and it fit that way....
