The D35 is great rear end to keep (i guess ) if you aren't hard on it and if you are o well there is a ton of them out there and most people will almost give them away. Weld it up and go have some fun those 44 are out there good luck with your search

i need help with decisions
Rokhound replied to manche0230's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
First off welcome to the club  Here is a link that is going on about the 8.8 and the D44 http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6664 As far as tires go what do you wheel in. 33's fit with no triming. I wheel in mud trees and very little rocks so my ideal tire is a skinny TSL 34x9.5's and yes skinny tires rock. -
i am running the 8.8 welded in my trail rig with 1.5 spacer and 34x9.5's the off set of the pumkin is not that much of an issue. The only issue is that these thing is heavy compard to the d35. So leave wheels on it so you can roll it around. That and these 8.8 are cheap you can get gears up to 4.56 maybe lower (is that right or maybe higher :nuts:any way) I vote for the 8.8 unless you can fall in to a deal on a 44

move your alternator ?????
Rokhound replied to Rokhound's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
then you just delete the lower all together thats cool and thanks. I think I have all the parts to do this as soon as I get the diesel out of the shop sprung an oil leak on it. So as soon as that is fixed this going to happen. -
I have found out that those skinny tire rock:rock on: i got rid of my 33x12.5 claws for a set of 34x9.5 tsl and i love them

move your alternator ?????
Rokhound replied to Rokhound's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i no thats what you were saying down at Dans and that the part i am having an issue with. i wounder if you could not just put the pully on the bottom some way and still use the same belt  -
this has been beat to death and you will find some say 8.8 is stronger than the 44 but then it has c-clip but you can get stock 4.10 gear and disk brakes. Then you get the ones that say the 44 you have to add the disc brake and the gearing and plus the price of these are kinda high if you ask me. This is just my thoughts. I mean you can get an 8.8 out of any Explore and be ahead of the D35 just stay away from the ranger it will have 27 splin and the Explore has 31 spline. I am running a welded 8.8 with disc and I like it.

move your alternator ?????
Rokhound replied to Rokhound's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats what i am talking about where the ac/pully is so nobody has any thing  -
Ok so here is the question how did you guys move your alternator from the bottom of the 4.0 up to the top of the motor. I want to move mine because I seem to wheel in a lot of mud/water and I have lost one and don’t want to lose anymore. So what did you guys do and what belt did you guys use. Please if possible post some pics. I have heard that you can use a 2.5 bracket is this true.

Here is a local guys rig locker front and rear and 29's yes 29's and this thing will go places that a Wrangler with and long arm kit and 38's could not go.

My uncle has a 95 or so Dodge Cummins 5 speed 1 ton that he uses on the farm and when I say he uses it I mean it has 350,xxx plus on the motor and only had to replace 5th once and that was awhile back. Now the last time I talk to him he said that the tranny finally needed to be replace and that was like $2500. So when I started looking for a tow rig this was my plan of attack just be willing to pay for it that’s all. And that is still the plan if the motor goes in the Ford I am going to but Cummins in it. And sorry to hear about you luck man that is why I don’t buy new.
