Thanks Pete, I think your right I am on a tight budget so I think I well wait to see what happen and the local pick and pull there is a new place called Wrench-n-Go and for a $100 per axel that is disc to disc. That way I can sell the axles that I do have and buy my lockers or like you said get some money back. I can tell you now this is going to be a longer build then I thought it was going to be but that is alright I like a challenge. And the price I gave you before was per axle sorry for miss leading you guys but like you said still a hell of a deal

What do you mean by deeper? Sorry for the newbie question but I want to make sure I understand what I am getting into. And I do want it so I can drive it to a local wheeling place it about 30 min from me. I no that when I start this axel project I am going with lockers as well I was reading the other post and I think the Aussie locker is going to be great for this project. I no that most of you guys will say go with the full locker like OX or some thing like that but my pockets aren’t as deep as some. I found a shop here in town that said if I buy all the parts he would set the gears up for me for around 150 to 200 I thought that was a hell of deal.

I no that this has been beat to death with a big ugly stick so I am going to bring it up again just to get point in the right direction. I have Ford 8.8 under the rear w/ I want to say 3.53 gears and the front is a D35 or D30 I think w/ 3.73 gears :dunno: . Now I no that I need to change one to match the other…….. or do I put 4.10 in both all I want is a weekend worrier/daily driver. I have about a 6.5” lift in the making and want to run 33s. What is your guy thought or better yet since this has been kick around before can you tell me what post/website to go to. Also how do you tell what gear you have I have heard you guy talk about counting teeth and rotation on tire once again I no this has been kick around please point me in the right direction. :???: Thanks in advance

Here is my thought I think jeep has went SOFT to try and keep up with the modern day soccer mom. And has got away form there roots of one tuff truck and as far as Dodge Ford or any of these other new vehicles there just to darn expenses and did I mention there ugly. And you can’t work on them unless you have a shop with all these special tool not to say these is a bad thing but what ever happen to just good looking car/trucks that ran hard and could be worked on by almost anyone. This thing looks like a Durango/Jeep Commander grocery go getter. ROCK ON JEEP 2500 at least it looks like a jeep Just my thought not wanted nor needed but given

The wife’s truck gets about 20 to 21 with tailgate down/off and my foot out of it. 3” to 4” lift 31x10.5 (5 speed 4.0 and 2 wd)

Yeah what you see is what the other guy has done. Here is a list of thing that need to be done: • Brakes all the way around it • Shocks Rough Country (eBay) • Sway bar disconnects (eBay) and sway bar form the parts truck • Track bar (T&T custom) • Upgrade to disc brakes on the back and fix the passenger side axle it’s bent a lot but the housing is good. I plan to go to wrench-n-go in Des Moines the said they might have one w/ disc brakes • Install the tanny and t-case from the parts truck (those top bolts on the tranny are SOB to get out any trick to help me get those out) I have started taking both tranny out. The truck was two wheel drive but as you can tell it has been change over to 4x4 This is all the plan and I hope to have it on the road by spring we will have to see. I think that is it -

I thought I would mention this here in the October issue they had a right up of axle upgrades there is one here that seem like it would be great but I don’t know I am new at this. It on page 27 item #10 Spidertrax Spider-9 Front axle it says that it is a 9” center and Dana 60 outers don’t know but it sound tuff as hell. Just my thought.

So here we go with the building spec of the eBay Special. First off I just want to say that is website along with the other one is great I have learned a lot and have gained a lot how ideals. On the 24 of September I bought my newest member of family an 89 Jeep Comanche that a guy had started building. I will start at the front and go to the back I guess that would be the easiest. • Front end has 6.5” Rubicon springs • Some kind of home made track bar so I could pull it home Kansas City (hope to upgrade to the T&T Custom track Bar) • Followed up with Rusty’s upper and lower control arms • The front axel is an AWD one no vacuum line to worry about • The motor is the 4.0 straight six (someday I hope to STROKE it out but that is down the road) • Right now it is gone to have the stock 5 speed and t-case out of the 87 Comanche (the parts truck) • And in the rear is the Ford 8.8 that needs some work gears to match the front and an axel on the passenger side (hope to upgrade to disc brake that is a must) So this is what I have now and we'll see where it goes.

First off thanks Pete for fixing the issue I had with the login. My name is Watson I have been on the other form for a while. I am a virgin when it comes to this truck I own 3 of them so that is a start but I have never built one. My first truck I bought about 2 years ago an 87 2wd w/ the 4.0 5 speed with a 3” or 4” Superlift I think. Then about a year later I found an 87 4x4 w/ the 4.0 5 speed that had been laid over on her side and this became the parts truck (really sad but I need parts) Then about 2 weeks ago I was surfing eBay when I found my newest toy an 89 2wd w/ the 4.0 5 speed. I won her and brought her home the guy had started to covert her into a 4x4 it has the awd front axle (no vacuum lines to worry about) I like that and the ford explore rear end 8.8 soa already done. Rusty’s upper and lower control arms with 6.5” Rubicon front springs. So this is what I have a project that I am in the middle of building. Using the part from the 87 parts truck. Plus I hope I have posted this in the right place this is the wifes this one is my baby and project
