this aint right if i new that i would of swap out your gears in my old axle how much -
One thing that could be over looked when going from 2 to 4 is make sure the axle match and keep a record of what year/make the parts came from.

i think T & T is the way to go long arm

tranny swap......now i have clutch problems
Rokhound replied to 88swampedmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those top two bolts on the tranny are a b!tch and there e-10 or e-12. I ended up pulling the motor and tranny and took a hammer and chisel, grinder and drill and a 6 pack to them to get them out. So i hope that you don't twist them off like i did -

Big Red-- now with new meats and Beadlocks
Rokhound replied to Rokhound's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The black truck is not mine that is Comancheon33 and the only reason I went to the d35 was just to get it on the road or in the mud. The issue was the front did not match the back. The front axle were 3.55 and the rear was 3.73 and I was going to go with the ford 8.8 but $$ got in the way and I want this thing on the road. So my plan is run this until it breaks and then builder it bigger and better -

Well it’s not exactly what I wanted but hey the darn gears match the front special thanks to Comancheon33 for the hook up. I have started to cut the spring perches off and I hope to have them off and the new ones welded on and under the truck before long. Just thought I would show off my new axle it's a stock Dana 35 out form an XJ with the most important part 3.55 gears. Hey 33 I forgot to ask what year that XJ was I just want it for my records -
That is what I did I got my 33x12.5 for $20 for all 4 of them and then I pick up my rims $100 American Racing steel wheel for all 5 of them there 10x15 just so I would have an ideal of what my truck is kind of going to look like and Wal-Mart tire I think is a great ideal but then again my wife works there and I can get 10% of them

used is great way to go but if you want new i found that rough country is having a specail here is link http://www.roughcountry.com/overstock_tires.html

does any one have pic of the this weld set up -
add some really thick white walls and this would be cool black steel rims with those chrome rings

So after I have read most of Pete's links I have come to take your advice this is to far over my head right now. But hec I have learned an important lesson here. KISS (keep it simply stupid) and go with leafs in the rear but I hope to learn enough to try this later on but for right now I am going to run away but I am saving those links because there is some good reading to get an ideal of the depth it takes to make a 4 link.

Hey no offense I never said I new what I was doing I just thought that it would be nice that’s all and your right it my be over my head but that is way I asked before I sank any money into it. The parts to do it look to be fairly affordable that’s what got my mind to thinking. Then again that’s what normally gets me into trouble.

Here is my thought down the road. I need to no if these will work on or trucks. Is there some one on here that has done a 4 link I mean Pong is close put I want to get away from the leafs in the back. I think and correct me if I am wrong a 4 link would have more flex then the leafs. So I am thinking of the Poison Spyder's Trophy Truss and then I found this write up (http://www.nitemareperformance.150m.com/spring.html). So where do I find the arms to connect the axle to the body and the preches to do this?

that is cool i don't no about you guys I think that motor in my MJ would be sweet. I mean h*ll all we would have to worry about is a twisted frame :chillin:
-
I am with you guys on this one I bought mine of of ebay thinking i will drag it home but the tranny/t-case in and away I would go WRONG. :headpop: Oh well like Pete said these thing always take more time than we think. But when I do get this thing done it well be a sweet day.

Testimony of an AMC Inline-4 owner
Rokhound replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
time to upgrade to the 8.8 then let those tires roll until the tranny goes then upgrade to the ax15 with t-case add a front axle then get a hold of pong and see if he won't let you use his cutting torch and cut every thing off that you don't need and your set untill you break something else :jump: -
i would not thank so..to short
