Any of you see the stick built RTI ramp over in the DIY section? Well I tested it out for him. I was a little scary to say the least but it held long enough I guess. I also mounted my rear diff cover I'll get a picture of that today.

i used window flashing to quiet up my daily driver ( i used protecto seal from home depot but peel and stick by mfm building products is more common) and it worked great. I pulled all the interior panels and carpet and stuck it to the floor and laid some jute from the fabric store over it and it brought the noise down quite a bit. I would definitly recommend it to you if you want to bring the noise down.

with the amc paint that'd be my daily driver! I wish I was closer, only so I could see it, I wouldn't pay that for that MJ.

Project: Bigger than I planned MJ
Darren replied to highlandjeeper's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
you did a great job with the front bumper/towpoints. if i didnt have a bumper i'd copy your idea. -
here's the cover I made for my rearend. i'll post pics of it on the axle when I mount it, but its pouring rain right now.

Back to the original topic. here are a few shots of the guard I made this week. The ring is 1/8" and the guard is 3/8"

I am currently on the road with my job, and am only home on weekends. So I have lots of time to kill here in Salem. I have nothing to do and all the fabrication tools I would ever need (as far as Jeep projects go). I can have whatever steel I want for free. I have a SOLID diff cover up front and the stock cover out back. It would be nice to have something back there but a $100+ cover is lower on my priorites list than a few other things. Not to mention that I would rather build a part for my MJ than buy one. ("Jeeps are built not bought") Having said that, I started it today. It's quite the project to build a ring that fits perfectly over a diff cover. It would probably be easier if we would have had our plasma cutter, but oh well. The ring itself or base is done, and if I get off early enough tomorrow I'll finish it. I'll post pics when I'm done but i have no way to take pictures until I get home Friday night.

Nice work all around. vents look great and so do your drip pans.

I'm Working on building my own diff cover, i'm thinking along the lines of the superlift rock ring. anyone else build their own? Pictures and or ideas would really be appreciated.

Pics of my fender trimming. I got of set of MJ flares from the u-pull it that were blue so I had to paint them. I sprayed them with rattle-can bedliner and they came out really good. I sprayed my rear flares too to match. Cut Bed-lined Flare Mounted and cut to fit. - Done! Came out really good in my opinion. Mine and my buddy's MJ work truck. Just in case anyone cared.
-
dude, I was gonna do something just like that for taillights in my MJ. I'm in woodland, we should go wheeling sometime. I see an Auburn Car Repair sticker. I assume you wheel with the Seattle Naxja crowd?
-
Trimmed my Front fenders today. Went well, gotta do the back still. I bought some MJ rears at the u-pull it to run up front. I'll post pics later.

I like the hood vents. Looks good.

ok i gotta do this. that is badass -
that is a very large comanche. where did you guys go?
-
No, I really don't think I lost any of my turning radius. I have a drop pitman arm that i'm not using. but I'm not a fan of lowering my steering.
-
i wouldnt say constantly steering, but its not a good as my daily driver. it does track pretty straight.
-
hey thanks guys. i do not have any bumpsteer, and i believe my steering is really good considering none of the parts under the truck are stock. for a truck lifted 7.5" i really like the steering, but its no cadillac. does that make sense?
-
Yeah, all you have to do is get the right size reamer, i used 3/4 i believe and ream the stock pitman arm out. do it slowing and constantly checking to see if the drag link fits, you definitly do not want to over ream it. did you go over the knuckle?

Replaced all my vacuum lines today for about $15. Idles like a champ now. Here is what I need to get done, 1 bolt left to drill in my tracbar mount, Build Rear Bumper Rearview mirror Cut Fenders New Pads out back Spare tire Axle seals out back When that is done, here is what I want to do next, Open Cooling system with Taurus Fan, Racing Seats or XJ Buckets with center console. Rock Rails/Rocker Replacements Inner/Exo Cage Mount for my Hi-lift and shovel CB Uni-body stiffeners
