  1. Heat up the knuckle around the joint. They'll come out with no effort at all. Had to do that with one of my lowers about a month ago. DIdnt make sense to me since i figured the metal would expand in all directions, but it just pulls away from the joint and it'll come right out.
  2. Hmm..hadn't considered clearance  Although he offers the stiffys alone in bolt on or weld/bolt, depending on your needs/capabilities. Plan on getting some whenever i get an XJ to toy with..maybe make it match my mj like your doing too
  3. Not to many locals who arent meth heads. Uncle of mine said the wheel that was previously the only part exposed has been there since the 60s. So it makes me wonder how much is there since it hasn't moved in 50 years, especially since that creek regularly floods way past its banks
  4. Detours USA makes some pretty great stiffys, don't know if theres a wait time at the moment for his stuff, but if your interested http://detoursusa.com/xjrokslyders.php
  5. Rain impeded all progress today, soon as it dries up a bit I'll be back down there! Good news, is that if there turns out to be more than just an axle, i have a baby trackhoe at my expense :brows:
  6. Love the idea, but needles(or barbed wire) in the seat is a big time no no, and, afaik, anything that can be considered "booby trapping" is a federal offense. Now, in some states, if you come outside, theyre messing with your truck, you can shoot em and be done with the issue. Personally, i carry a valve core tool, to simply de-core valve stems if need be. Not permanent, won't hurt anything, just a huge pita. Anyway, your best bet would probably be to put a game cam in a window, security cameras, etc. Catch em, press charges, sue em and take their house, etc. Sucks, but thats the world we live in. Good luck with the truck.
  7. I don't need anymore projects...but man its tempting to hook up the car trailer and come get em both from you!

Remember laughing so hard at work, i was getting stares from across the shop, when i saw this.
  9. Driving without a clutch is just as easy as with a clutch. I learned it in about 3 city blocks, only use the clutch anymore to take off from a dead stop, and reverse. Helps that I pretty much only drive backroads with 1 or 2 stops too. All youre doing when you shift without the clutch is using engine rpms to make the gear you want "mesh up". When youre driving just take some time to figure out at what speeds and rpms your gears line up at, and bam. Clutchless driving.
  10. Lots of cool history in firearms, I envy a lot of collections that I've seen. Got a buddy who is big into LMGs, and the occasional heavy...got to shoot his browning .50..civie'd up to semi sadly..but belt fed is still cool nonetheless.
  11. Down at the creek, behind my grandpas land, there was always an old wheel sticking up, buried well below the hub, always figured it was just an old wheel that got washed down the creek during a flood. Well, some of it washed away, and turns out theres alot more than just a wheel. The axle looks mid '20s we think. Anyway, took some pics, hopefully going to try to dig the whole thing up this week. Leaf spring is still attached on one side, as well as what we believe is a bumper mount. Only have less than half of the axle uncovered, but think there may be more than meets the eye. Either way, cool, and will be a fun undertaking. Pics, and opinions on what the axle may have come off of? Also, who thinks theres more than just an axle? clearly an old rear, diff and all. This is the still buried half. Tapered axle tubes, below the tube is part of the leafs, and slightly below is a bumper mount(?) Similar pic, with flash. Wheel and hub. Too dark for no flash..but flash really sucks. Another view of the hub. All I got for now. Going back tomorrow with shovels. Digging with a pry bar just didnt work all that well. Thoughts guys?
  12. Ok, so, maybe not pencil, but close enough.

Not in CO, havent been following their politics too much outside of the gun control debate, but, according to a cousin of mine in denver, theres a bit more to it besides just gun control, according to this article he sent me. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-09-12/political-sins-more-than-guns-drove-colorado-recall.html
  14. Yep, got the pencil sketch saved on the comp, i'll upload it in a bit. Only issue is the far B Pillar...wtf?
  15. Truck looks great man! That 50" light bar up top, could it mount any lower without getting in your vision from the cab? I want one, but personally would want it mounted lower, and just wonder how well it would work.
  16. Somethings going on with the float, I would assume. maybe just gunk in the tank that got around the sending unit or something, or possibly a bad connection or ground? I'd check all the connections at the sending unit before taking it all out, just my .02
  17. Not exactly sure how that would affect the fuel level your guage is reading? Unless its only off when they're moving around back there? In which case...thats pretty much the only reason why its off is because liquid moves, therefore the float moves, etc.
  18. ^I like this guy. Lets keep him. Also, while you're down there...mind checking mine too? I think thats the source of my mysterious clunking noise! Good looking MJ's, anxiously awaiting more
  19. If you've taken the sending unit out, you may have bent the float rod during re-install, my dodge is the same way.
  20. Looks good man! Wish my floorboards only had that much rust. Just out of curiousity...around the back of the head on the jeeps engine, does it look like the firewall was beat with a hammer or welded? Just curious how the PO got the I6 in there, or if its new enough that it had the mod'd firewall already.
  21. It would shake like the space shuttle in re-entry, then fall apart like my old chevy when the speedo pegged at 85 then kept spinning?
  22. That is sweet! Awesome story behind it, too! Guy around town has an old beat up one I've been eyeing for a while now...
  23. AFAiK, because it hasn't happened to me, MO is the same way, or so I'm told.
  24. I imagine you're right, and thats more than likely what it would end up as for such a small run anyway. But, if it can be done for a reasonable price, I've got the $$ on hold, just kinda hoping.
  25. Keep us posted Jim...i remember someone a while back who, iirc, got a company to make some, but needed several confirmed orders to start. My mj wasnt even running at the time, but wish i would've got in on that. don't even remember how it turned out, actually.
