  1. Dan I live in the SF Bay Area but would be interested just can't think of a good halfway point. There are a few more of us up here. Thanks for suggesting this Joe
  2. Ha I found it, it is mjeff87 that used the Lincoln lights http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... ontinental
  3. He beat me too it Hornbrods stuff is always OEM looking but better than OEM quality. Another great writeup from BLHTAZ http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/view ... ts+lincoln I also seem to remember someone using Lincoln continental interior lights? All of these solutions beat the OEM $70 a pair that have sold on ebay. With the savings buy yourself a large Pizza and a case of beer!
  4. a half ton j4k is 44/44 combo, 3/4 ton is 44/60 combo. closed knuckle I believe on the 44/44 but not sure about the 3/4 ton combo. mine's a half ton It's very interesting dialogue about the subject of 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton J4000's. Some really great discussion there just like here :D One explanation I read was that the J4000 came in 1/2 ton and a few levels of 3/4 ton ranging from medium duty to heavy duty, and there was no such thing as a 1 ton j4000. Lots of spirited response to that one and right now I am way too ignorant to even have an opinion.
  5. Thanks everyone! Now I have to get enough gumption to ask the wife, and call. If it looks good I will run a carfax and see confirming the family owned. I was hoping for a 44/60 option axles but from what I have lurked out of the folks at IFSJ the J4000 came in different combos 44/44 44/60, and the only way to tell which one you have is to find out the GVWR 7000 makes 3/4 ton and apparently 8000 makes a 1 ton. I was hoping for a later model J20 but this looks like a good possibility.
  6. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/519108583.html This looks like one of the cleanest j4000 I have ever seen, by the looks of the front lugs a (4X4)? I am getting a rather sizable vacation payoff and now I need to convince my wife that this truck will be usefull. My Dad already agreed he loved it and would let me park it at his house if he could haul with it every now and then. If she says yes I am going to offer $3,000 what do you all think?
  7. Sounds like Christmas has been great for everyone, but those MJ power mirrors and pigtails are a true rarity. My Christmas dream was to find a SWB factory roll (light) bar, and an all electric MJ including electric bucket seats ( if they ever had those) I have heard the 86 XLS? Oh well I woke up before I could ever figure out what JY I was wandering. ;)
  8. X2 My father cleaned out and rebuilt a shed we had since the 70's that had my Tonka Collection, and such a truck set including a 30's metal fire engine passed down from a great uncle. Mom grabs them and she says she will have them appraised, but Dad "loses" them  . Get those suckers appraised!
  9. I got with some new clothes a new rear slider for my MJ, and a Sub-woofer.
  10. Huzzah agreed
  11. I can forgive an inexperienced driver for impairing their ability to drive with a cell phone once, but an expereinced adult should know better than to impair their ability to drive. That is why here in CA it will be law in july 2008 that you can't talk on your cell phone while driving unless you can do so but still have both hands available to drive (studues have found that even with such technology driving is still impaired ;) ) It's too bad we have to substitute laws that can be compromised for plain old common sense.
  12. the law is to keep young kids from killing other young kids by mistake/distraction from riding with them til they have a little more experience... i guess to many kids were learning the wrong way ;) What about adults driving preoccupied with: eating chatting on cell phones watching DVD's shaving putting on makeup her behind If I was a kid I will feel a little singled out.
  13. Wow that 1987 comanche add at $6500 must be a stripped 4-banger!
  14. Oregon's laws are to discourage Californians from moving there. :D Thats funny  but calli laws are just about the same Maybe that explains why so many of us are invading Washington and Oregon. :chillin:

  16. According to this an '87 was $6495 http://cgi.ebay.com/1987-Jeep-Comanche- ... p1638.m118
  17. Hi-five for Samson!
  18. my windshield wiper fell off the cherokee...I can aim at tailgaters. it's a riot :D :jump:
  19. Nice writeup! I know of some that have talked about rerouting their air cleaner to the empty spot and then mounting dual batteries where the air cleaner was. Now if only we could get a writeup on how to aim the said washer plumbing to best clean the windshield and also squirt the tail gaters. ;)
  20. Nice writeups! We all know the original dome lights suck for illumination. Sure beats spending $70+ on a stock pair on ebay, I went ahead and bought the temp/compass and domelight mirror on quadratec it killed a lot of critters with one stone for me. I don't mean to hi-jack but in my eliminator I noticed I also have lights under the dash by the kick panels that helps a great deal. Is this standard on all MJ's? If not I noticed that some places sell kits for brighter lights under there.
  21. Congratulations! I think it's a great looking truck
  22. Wow! Another nice find, I wish MJ's had the sensors to support that, I am planning on using that area for an HD radio or Garman GPS. I have often wondered if the XJ Wagoneers could support such a gizmo.
  23. Agreed, but it certainly is a nice truck, maybe they will part it out? ;) I bet there would be some takers on here for those axles and Tcase.
  24. I wonder, I know some folks put the wrong oil in their AX-15's, but 3 failures sounds very unusual.
