Oil Temperature Discussion
Jeep Driver replied to flint54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
BTW I've moved to Havoline 20-50 in the 2.5 with Napa Gold filters. 2.5 has about 9K miles on it now and oil pressure at idle is never less than 40lbs and at 2000rpm is generally at 58lbs. I have found Havoline to be pretty stable between changes. In the 4.0 I'm using Havoline 40w with Lucas treatment to maintain acceptable oil pressures. Most the 4.0s I encounter are high mileage. -
Oil Temperature Discussion
Jeep Driver replied to flint54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm more concern with coolant temps. New radiator and full-time electric fan.........temp never leaves 190 degrees no matter how hot the ambient temp is or how long at idle or interstate driving. I'll let the oil take care of itself. -
I have a 6 or 7 cell.......don't remember but the batteries have leaked inside......largest they make.

It appears the 98 master will fit the firewall it's the push rod that may need to be adapted. Somewhere here there is a thread on using adapters and braided line to mate the master and slave.......nice set up. I have the plastic slave on mine and that will have to go at some point.....along with the plastic line.

So what's the deal here? TPS
Jeep Driver replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I also had the starter to replace so I disconnected the battery.....don't know if that has any effect or not....but...... What a difference in the way it runs with the new TPS.....yeah the old one either had no effect or a negative effect. -
So I get the wife a 97XJ last weekend and as soon as we got it home the TPS went out. Erratic idle......no shift till 3500rpm....read codes..........sure-nough. Spent the $50 and all is well. So this gets me to think'n today about the TPS on the Comanche 2.5 I unplugged it and it actually runs smoother throughout the rpm range. I figure the TPS is bad and ordered a new one. I also figure it in part controls the timing and fuel delivery.......but why better unplugged? I suspect it has always been bad since I got it..........should I expect improved mileage and performance once replaced?

Muffler Question- Any help appreciated
Jeep Driver replied to Manche_Lover_88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I replaced my rattle can of the cat yesterday. The muffler is a new magnaflow stainless and I wanted to retain it but he PO used a standard clamp and compressed the joint and I had a hard time getting the old pipe out. Instead of trying to insert the new pipe into the muffler enough to reuse the clamp I decided to get a couple of the strap clamps. I'm sold! These Easy Seal strap clamps are the s--t! -

Jeep Driver replied to Disturbed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Need to make a correction here. :) Got the call from the insurance co. invest...........my wife is not at fault and our insurance co. is not paying out. Really good news for us and I'm happy about that.......We will now not have to pay the 36 month surcharge. Happy happy. You need to take pics and make your case.......glad I did. -
Did it come out of Clearwater?

This won't work on a Renix since the alt isn't controlled by the ECU. It has an external regulator. OP, you need to shop for the Delco CS-130 100A alt. It is a replacement for the existing external regulator.

Will these axles work?
Jeep Driver replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/2664736234.html This will work too. But I prefer the later axle and external slave. -

Jeep Driver replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Look for a 94 Cherokee donor........everything you need is there.......including the external slave bell housing. Will come with the 4.11 - 4.10 gears. Typically the 2 door variety. also you will need a shorter rear drive shaft, one from a cherokee will not fit. if you use the cherokee rear axle you will need to move the spring perches. make sure the crank position sensor an the bell-housing it in the same spot as the old one. 94 transfer case will have the electronic speed sending unit in it, just remove it and use your old cable setup. now would also be a good time to change your lower control arms to ones from a WJ. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... =2&t=32508 He will only need the front axle..........and the CPS is correct. The drive shaft he will need to get made. -

http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2637841695.html Or if you can get a hold of this guy.........lord knows I've tried............he has what you need. This ad does not state that the Comanche had a 2.5 but his previous ads did, he has sold the 2.5 from what I gather. I believe he will not respond to me because of and out of the area phone number........but he has stated that the trans is relatively new. -
