  1. If it is the turn switch, did I mention you will need to get under the dash. Get a manual and some tools. I like Haynes more than Chiltons. But that is my opinion. Take your time. It is not hard. The puller can be rented/loaned from many autoparts stores. Pepboys does free loaner for pullers.
  2. Check and clean the ground wire under the driver's rear tail light. If that checks out, then check the turn signal switch. It is in the steering column, so you will need a puller to get it out. All the symptoms you described run through that switch.
  3. Lines crossed? One wire comes from the fuse box that is fed from the ingintion switch. When the key is "on" or "acc", you have radio. Another wire controls the dimmer on the radio (whether the radio dims or not). This comes from the head light switch. This is a hot line when the lights are on. Double check the wires.
  4. Blue XJ (with a green MJ), It is my understanding that when the BA10 was discontinued for the AX15 that the t-case was changed to a 23 spline. Of course, I have not gone out and counted the splines ;)
  5. I'm sorry. I should have been more clear. My MJ has on it currently the BA10/5 with the internal slave. I will swapt the AX15 w/ ext. slave for the BA10 (and the t-cases). The AX15 with the internal will go on the CJ.
  6. Next week I will be getting an AX15 from a 98 XJ. What else should I get with it? I ALREADY HAVE AN AX15 AND MATCHING T-CASE FROM A 90 XJ. SO, PLEASE DON'T LIST A T-CASE. This ax15 has the external slave cylinder. (the other ax15 is the internal) I have requested the master, slave, shift fork and bellhousing. Should I ask for the for the presure plale and clutch? pilot bearing? cross member (see below)? anything else? BTW - the extra ax15 will go on an 84 CJ to replace a T5. Will the cross member fit the CJ? or will the existing cross member on the CJ fit the ax15?
  7. These mirrors were factory options on this one. If you are considering changing your to this, just be aware that on the inside of the door skin is a brace running top to bottom to support the mirror. Otherwise, the door skin will flex from the wind pushing the mirror. The metal will fatigue and rip without the brace.
  8. I purchased the brackets for the MJ, about $40. This is what it looks like from underneith
  9. Left is driver's side, right is passenger's side. Just remember as you sit in the vehicle, facing forward, which side is you left and which is your right.
  10. The seats will swap over. You will need to keep the floor mounting brackets. They are not interchangable between MJ/XJ. You could recover the seats, but that won't fix the tilt. The JY is probably the best choice.
  11. The dreaded "internal slave cylinder" stikes again! Check the floor/ground under your MJ. You may find your fluid there.
  12. No, it was not originally metric. I did purchase the rear leafs from General Springs last year. They have the "miliary wrap' with an extra booster leaf. They give the truck 3" of rear lift. I had installed 2" spacers up front to even it out. Although, the rear sits higher.
  13. Rotted away, unfortunately.
  14. After 11 months, I have my MJ back. It got a full restoration. Engine rebuilt. Trans and T-case serviced. Rust repair and a new paint job. Attached are before and after pictures. Pre resto. Looking a little tired. Today. Looking showroom new. The drivers floor. Fred Flintstone would be at home. Today. Por 15 to complete. Drivers side rear wheel well. During repair. Today. From the rear. Is there something missing? I know! A Comanche Club window sticker!
  15. I recall a while back, maybe 2 yrs, a CC member wrote that he wrecked his MJ when he was 4 wheeling. He set his park brake, got out of the truck to move something. His brake gave and the truck roll down hill and struck a tree. I think he said it was totalled. I wonder if his was an '86?
  16. My 87 has just been completed a full resto. I learned how to ID parts and located them this past year
  17. Just get the whole truck, then throw what you don't need or is broken beyond repair.
  18. Tail lights, seat brackets, pickup bed light (if present), rear bumber. (not inteded to be a complete list. Just some parts that come mind.)
  19. I mis-read your post. I did scan those four pages, but could not figure out how to attach it to a post. How do I attached a pdf? Or pm me and I will email them to you.
  20. My books are glue bound. I don't want to brake then apart. Sorry. I have the FSM for my CJ in a 3 ring. I will scan the complete set one day.
  21. These are the pages from the FSM for the 86 brake fix.
