OK did the install yesterday and all I can say is WOW!!!! my truck feels great I was planning on going with the "Hot Rod" setting but could not remove one of the valves in the VB so I went with the "truck" setting and am not disappointed at all. 1-2 shift overlap is much more crisp not harsh at all just crisp, 2-3 and 3-4 feel just a little bit better still wouldn't consider them to be anywhere near harsh during regular street driving. At full throttle shifts are prolonged (engine revs higher) and shift overlap is also MUCH quicker. On the highway the kick down feels much more firm ( according to throttle position) and more responsive. I would recommend this to all of you guys my Comanche is so fun to drive now. Notes for anyone that is interested. 1 - Jeepman is correct, find the VB gaskets BEFORE you begin the install, I've heard they are hard to find but if you contact TransGo they can get them for you. (626)443-7451 2 - If your tranny is in your vehicle prepare to get extremely dirty and showered in ATF so wear clothes you don't mind throwing away when the job is done. 3 - Plan to take approximately a whole day ( or at least half ) to do this since it requires very close attention to detail. 4 - If you have a stock daily driver I would suggest the "truck" setting since it makes a noticeable difference, I'm guessing the "Hot Rod" setting may be a little too harsh for factory trucks. 5 - It is NOT difficult at all just very time consuming, the drilling required is on the separator plate between the upper and lower VB halves the drill bits are included and the instructions show you exactly were to drill. If any of you guys have any questions I'll gladly try to help you out as much as I can.

How much coffee have you had ? :rotf: :rotfl2:

Cool there are 2 gaskets in the pack so that should cover it, I was just over thinking the drilling part considering how "delicate" a valve body looks thank you very much for clarifying that for me. I was shocked to find out the TransGo place is about 3 minutes from where I work/live I have driven by there hundreds of times without even knowing

You can just unbolt the tube from the engine and pull the tube with the pan then separate once on the ground... I did this exact shift kit however I had to remove it due to transmission issues... (bad trans) I got mine on EBay... The $#!&ty part about the kit is that it doesn't include valve body gaskets so I attempted to re-use mine and it worked but they were so brittle that pieces started breaking off and I did not learn that the gaskets were a MUST replace till after I already started the install so GET GASKETS FIRST which are not the easiest to get mine are on order from a guy on ebay so I will see what he sends me and let everyone know who needs gaskets... Thank you very much for the heads up on the VB gasket, I was able to find one locally at a transmission repair shop so I'll have that handy , as far as the dip stick tube on the pan I was able to separate the 2 pieces successfully a few months ago when I did my tranny filter and replaced my coolant lines with AN hoses so I'm hoping it will not that much of a hassle this time, Jeepman ir it really difficult to do? i"ve heard it requires drilling a few holes, can I use a regular hand drill ?or is a drill press required? thank you.

That's one great looking Comanche !!!! congrats  I might look into getting some of that vinyl paint also, I noticed you have your muffler turned down right before your rear axle, I'm planning on doing the same thing to mine, Do you get any drone in the cab? is it too loud to be used as a daily driver?

I'm going to be installing my TransGo AW4 reprogram kit this week, do you guys have any suggestions? has anyone here actually done it? I tried looking up info online but found very little on actual "how to" I know the kit comes with instructions but I like researching as much as possible to avoid surprises since it's my only vehicle and plan on doing this new years day so all the local auto parts stores will be closed, thanks. Here's the link for the kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/trg-340-hd2

Anyone heard of HERMOFF 6112 4.0 exhaust manifold?
big66440 replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
sure do, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C123A2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I wouldn't recommend this one, if you get the Hermoff branded one it is a hassle to work with it my #6 cylinder pipe went way too far into the down pipe that would have caused a severe restriction so I had to find a way to cut the pipe, the bolt holes for the cylinder #1 flange didn't line up correctly so I had to ream them, and finally the EGR tube didn't even come close to lining up correctly so that really set me back some serious time, I just hope it makes up for that crap by lasting me a long time. BTW I cannot confirm 100% that it was actually made in Canada. -
Merry Christmas !!!!

The second you see a Comanche at the wrecking yard and you almost run to it yelling " I SAW IT FIRST !!!!!! " in your head

Maybe this is why I haven't been sleeping so well... I haven't laid eyes on my MJ since October... That's also one of the reasons I don't put on my mint condition tailgate.

I placed an order on Amazon for an exhaust manifold replacement for my renix 4.0, I paid for the Dorman brand manifold but received a "Hermoff" brand one with a plaque welded on the 3and 4 tubes similar to "dougs headers and the waranty certificate makes it seem like it was made in canada, it seems to be of high quality but i couldnt find any info in it have any of you guys heard of this brand? Thanks

You can't sleep comfortably at night thinking some jack @$$ is going to steal your tail gate and/or tail lights . Knock on wood, hope I didn't jinx myself

Check out my build thread. I had a 2.25" downpipe bent up and flared to meet a 2.5" Magnaflow glasspack that directly feeds a 2.5" Magnaflow big case muffler. Quiet and deep at idle, deep and throaty under load, and best of all, no drone when cruising. Update: I got the Magnaflow 2.5" in/out a couple feet long...AWESOME sound and feel. no drone at highway speeds...super fun. What do you mean a couple feet long?

My best friends cat was stolen from his Tacoma years ago, he had parked directly behind our house. I agree with being able to shoot the living piss out of someone trying to mess with your property especially IN your property but no,,,,, legally you can't even touch them anymore   :shake: ,and it's not like {most} police give a rats @$$ about your stuff anyway when they finally show up to take the "report".

Mine has been broken till yesterday, it also snapped right where it hooks up to the foot pedal assembly it is a very simple set up and doesn't seem to bind the cable in any way when you engage the E brake :hmm: , guess it's just fatigue on the cable like Jeep Driver said :dunno:

Hard Start Up In The Morning
big66440 replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have this exact same issue and yes mine is also a renix 4.0, when engine temp is cold it takes a good 15-20 seconds if not more of intermittent cranking for it to start, once it's just a little warm it fires right up I have also replaced the engine coolant temp sensor and it didn't make a difference
