M.O.R.E. steering box brace installed!
ORCA replied to ORCA's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Woops...you caught me. I did leave out that my manche was in an accident (PO!!! ) So yes I suppose this would affect the fitment. Now I tried mounting inbetween the straps and it was rubbing on the flywheel horribly. This is the only way it mounts up (on my truck anyway). -
Maybe instead we don't have powwows as a seperate page...It does seem easier to get together through the forum anyway... :hateputers: Well with this new design there is a single botton that will leads right to the forums. Just like the current website. Besides if that is too complicated I always just bookmark the forum itself (comancheclub.com/forums), that way there is no wait time. ;) The point of updating the main page is not to make things more complicated. It's to fresh and lighten things up, make the main page more versitale - and appealing to new members. Again it shouldn't be a more complicated process. This should be a 'simplifying' procedure. Maybe i'm the only one on this sinking ship though...

Alright we've talked about this before but I think it is time to bring it up again, hopefully get motivated enough to make a change  I don't mind working on it right now because i'm 'recovering' from surgery and can't really do anything else... I feel obligated to contribute more than just posting because of all the things Pete does for us. Here is an old design I came up with: http://www.amt.org/scott/cc/index.html It's been awhile since i've updated it, so it is somewhat old news - but I think we can build off this. Pete has mentioned before that the site should atleast include these: -main page -MJ history -MJ of the Month -original owners (?) -page for members: something simple with just a truck photo and owners name -PowWows I can update that old design to incorporate all these things, but I want to hear some feedback on the design. My goal here is too update the main page with a fresher look, and have the ability to update it as the club grows. Soo now it's your turn CC members, any feedback helps! Lets get the ball rolling!!

What is your current lift set up (specifics)? What are you trying to achieve...just trying to run large tires? Or tons of lift? All of this should have an effect on which lift you end up with. Also be aware of the hidden costs when going this big. Large @$$ tires need large @$$ axles with large @$$ gears and so on and so forth.... I've only heard bad things about RE's Extreme Duty kit (it's the one with that crazy crossmember right?). Ofcourse this is always hear-say. I have no personal experience with it other than it really looks over-engineered to me.. I don't know too much about the TnT or RockKrawler kits, but I've heard good things about the clayton long arm kit. I don't know the price offhand, but i'm sure it is close to 1500. I'm running 4.5" RE coils + 2" teraflex spacers and RE CA drop brakets w/ RE control arms in the front - rides like a dream, wheels even better. :chillin: In the rear i've got 4.5" RE leaves (actually the main leaf is the stock MJ leaf) on a SOA set up 8.8 w/ 1.75" teraflex lift shackles. The rear sits WAY higher than the front and is real soft ( i like it). :redX:

How to Convert to front leafs???
ORCA replied to bhorocks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's funny you say that dirty... Every person i've ever heard of doing a front leafs on their MJ/XJ has regretted it in some way or another. I've always wanted to do it because leafs are way simpler than coils n junk, but all the regret really holds me back. I don't think i'll ever get around to it with my current laundry list of to-do's... :hateputers: -
Finally got this weird thingamajig in place with one problem in my eyes... Here you can see where I had to grind down the end of the brace and make the hole way bigger: This was so that the hole on the brace and the two holes in the straps. The brace right out of the box did not fit what so ever (here it is modified to fit): MORE could have engineered it better and saved me an extra 1-2 hours of work. Probably would take an extra 5-10 minutes on the manufacturing end... Anyway it is installed and hopefully it will keep my box in place :redX: What do you think?

Very nice truck! I dig the yellow! A buddy of mine had Xterrains and said they were the heaviest tire he has ever had...what do you think? He's a pretty beefy guy too :dunno:

5.19.2007 I was lazy with posting the pictures...but better late then never right? The trail head is only 5 minutes from my house, so this is basically my backyard play ground  More pictures here: http://www.tahoeoffroad.com/truckwheeling.html

Wow holy shiet man, those are sweet! I use to be into 1/10th scale trucks, but they are money pits!! Anyway I've got some random toy trucks around the house because i'm still a kid at heart... Maybe I'll get some pictures if i'm really bored...

PROJECT BUDGET MANCHE - Now on 35's!
ORCA replied to LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Lucky... I want a tow bar! Was it a kit or all home brewed? BTW what happened to your passenger side frame rail? I don't remeber it being twisted up like that? -
Well just checked it out and I only get discounts on microsoft and adobe products...
-
Yea city's blow... Move to tahoe! Then we could go wheeling!
-
3.73 - 4.56 for 33's would be tits  I think anything above or below would be too much or too little. A buddy of mine has 3.73's and 33's, great for wheeling but not the best off the line ;) I've got 4.56's and 35's...it ain't that bad... :chillin:

crossover steering tie rod end questions
ORCA replied to 88swampedmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What was it? Are u still running a d30 in the front? -
Wow thanks man! Although it looks like those have to be mounted on the parking brake line: I think my first option is to head over to a junkyard and see if I can wrangle up all the parts I need (I need EVERYTHING  ) Does anyone know if this kit will work (it's designed for a floor mounted parking brake?): More info: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku The same guy on NAXJA has this set of cables for sale
-
Do you have any pictures of the bumper not mounted? Or underneath it? I really like the design of it man!
-
I think i'll order a new one from summit... I need the springs and little peices from a JY too  Any idea how long I should get for a longbed? EDIT: Hey ping pong, any word on that bumper?
-
Look at that ARCH!! holy shiet!
-
Alright I know i've asked a few people about this before, but for those of u with an 8.8 - what the heck did you use for your parking brake. 4 years without one, I think it's time I figure something out...? I wonder if I could just mickey mouse it at the hardware store? Hmm.. Oh yea - I have the attention span of a 7 year old, so pics are definetly welcome!!
