I'm a trailer noob... Trailer brakes solely depend on the trailer right? Or do they tie into the towing vehicles' braking system? I hope that makes sense. I would like to one day trailer my MJ with my ZJ. Maybe flat towing is the way to go...

It better have a tire carrier and rear winch mount for that price!Sliders I would say are right on. I wouldn't go that far yet. It really all depends on the mounting system. That's what makes and breaks a "rock rail's" capabilities. And a picture is worth a thousand words :brows: I'm just hoping the long bed manche rails aren't toooooo expensive. It's my roommates and i'm helping him get it running again. He is pretty clueless about it and so am I, but any help would be appreciated! Basically it needs a new front axle. It has a closed knuckles which I hear is hard to find parts for. Anyway, it's a 1968 Gladiator? J2500? With the 327 Vigilante engine, 44's front and rear.. That's about all I can recall. Any info reguarding this truck and possible compatibility with newer trucks with open knuckle front axles is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Wow you opened a few can of worms, probably with out even knowing it. First off, it all depends on you, your driving/wheeling habits (got a heavy foot?), and your tire size. This is very important in determining if you really need new axles. Just cause people say it's weak doesn't mean it's going to blow on you randomly one day. Well...maybe... If I was you I would first address the rear 35. The front 30 is pretty stout, and can be modified with simple things to make it much stronger (my 30 has 35" tires on it, holding up fine). As far as the axle prices, there really is no standard. Some people get amazing deals from JY's (sometimes they have sales and i've heard of complete axles being had for $75). You will probably be paying way more to someone who has already pulled it out or even done some work to it. BTW I don't think this should be in the classifieds area. :thwak:
