Ugh..that's too bad about Matt's doors. Anyone out there ever make any themselves? I have no fabrication skills but would be willing to pay someone else!
-
Has anyone pondered the idea of ditching the stock doors in place of tube doors? Both my windows don't work, the seals are completly shot, and I have 2 seperate keys for the doors. Now that I'm out of the snow I wouldn't feel as bad of potentially ripping off the doors and replacing them with some aftermarket tube doors. Any ideas/suggestions please? I've searched the internet looking for aftermarket manufactors of tube doors any only came up with formatt's doors (this is assuming XJ front doors are identical to MJ doors): Warrior Products makes tube doors also (more expensive but I like the latch they use, plus I've heard to stay away from warrior products because of they use cheap materials): Are there any other reputable tube door manufactors out there? Carolina rock shop use to make some sweet ones but have since stopped making them (or I haven't found their new site)

Ooh ok. Well yea go get yourself some LCA's and throw them spacers in there!!
-
I couldnt tell from the pictures if you had spacers in the front... but id say raise the front up as opposed to lowering the rear. Teraflex has some cheap 1.75" spacers which seem to be pretty standard around here. EDIT: saw your project post and noticed you already had spacers in there. Makes me wonder how many inches of spacers you can run in the front that would be safe to wheel with... Anyone have an idea? I went out and measured my spacers and got this: teraflex spacer + stock rubber = 2.5" total spacer height. I wonder if I could squeeze another stock rubber in there to get about 3" in the front...

Nice ride

Why not leave it as is? When you load the bed up with stuff then it will level out some. Looks good BTW

I found a wire coming out of the carpet right next to the driver's seat belt buckle with a 2 prong connector on it. Does anyone know what this is for? Seat belt light? or power seating maybe? i've got no idea..

Since we keep going more and more off topic, here's an interesting video I found on the riddler covers: wow!

Motion - you don't have a picture of one of them 8.8 rockkrusher's mounted up do you? Oh and I searched "hustler" on the forum and your name came up...odd... ;) Willy - did you experience any alignment problems with your cover?
-
I don't want to cause confusion, but 40lbs seems too light to me. But I'm notoriously wrong
-
I second motion's response. It would be a costly mistake to have a driveshaft made before the work is all done and find out later that it is the wrong size. It may end up being the same size, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Besides any competent driveline shop can produce a shaft for you within a day or two.

I'm going to start the guessing at somewhere around 75 lbs... But sorry I do not have an exact weight

Probably going to get crap for this but if your needing to pull the axle backwards, i'd strap it to the rear axle, or your hitch if you have one. Makes me wonder why is the axle not moving? I've been able to move axles on my own and i only weigh 150 lbs... I still feel like i'm missing something there -
Thats too bad... You'd think they would be able to line those up in this day and age with all of the precision measuring equipment that is available... Either way, the ruffstuff cover is much cheaper than the BTF cover and looks alittle beefier too. I think i might be finally getting a cover for my 8.8 (after 3 years of running the stock one with no problems!). Thanks for the photo Willy  go_blazers6 hows the cover fab coming? I'm interested to see the photos!

Push it? Or put a jack under the axle and push that? Sounds like you need some more muscle (ask a friend/neighbor?). Unless i'm missing something here... -

I didn't have shocks on the rear of my MJ for a year or so and the only time I noticed it was when I would roll over speed bumps. The back end would bounce like a low rider. Didn't affect my steering at all. Be careful when tightening the frame side trac bar bolt with an air ratchet, i've sheered several in half because of over tightening. While your under there you could tighten up your control arm bolts too, this may be affecting your steering situation. -
All my life i've had hand me down digi cams (still cameras) and have never been satisfied with the pictures they take. I probably could mess with the settings to get better results but I don't have the time or know how to really do that. Can anyone out there recommend (dare I say it?) a point-n-shoot camera? My price range would be between 200-300 but I could shell out alittle more if it's the difference between a lame and awesome camera. I don't mean to call you out but LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW i've noticed your pictures are always crystal clear, regardless of conditions (sunny, indoor, action shot). What do you use? Any recommendations? Here's the only camera I've considered so far: Olympus Stylus 790SW. My roommate had it and it was amazing how water proof it was (he could drop it into a fish tank and take pictures under water with no problems). It appeals to me simply because of it's durability, which we all know the value of a good durable product. EDIT: I've seen the olympus retail for $240-270, which is right about where i'd like to be.

I was thinking the same thing, but i'm assuming he bought it from the JY with leafs in the front. Which means this jeep has had a history of pretty heavy modifications. Either way, bitchin' jeep! Great start and welcome to the dark side of wheelin'

Ive seen this scenario all too often on many, many jeeps. I'd tighten the frame end of the trac bar down and go from there. I usually tighten mine down 1-2 a year becaause it works itself loose over time. -
pingpong - Do you have any trouble with the weird dimples on the 8.8? It looks like the BTF cover isnt cut out where those dimples are and they could get caked with mud or worse get hung up on a rock and start prying the cover. The ruffstuff cover has these dimple things cut out on there cover: Or am I being too anal?

that's what straps and proper tie-downs are for. now you're gonna tell me that they don't want to inconvenience themselves time-wise   Well now that you mention it Pat, yeah I will tell you it's an inconvenience, in every way. You don't think it's inconvenient to have to tie down ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING you put in your bed??!! like a tool box, or a chain saw, or simple garden tools? Pain in the @$$! Period. Agreed. It does become a nuisance when youve got to tie down a 30 pack on your way back from the liquer store instead of 'setting it and forgetting it'...until you get to the party :brows: I will also agree with Jeepco that having plenty of tie down points is extremely necessary when packing for an outing. It's hilarious seeing things flying out of the back of people's pickups simply because they couldnt strap it down. So in my opinion (which isnt much of one), your both right. It just depends on the context. Sometimes we are in a hurry and would like to place things in the bed without them flying about, other times we have the time to plan and pack accordingly with the right amount of tie downs securing all of the cargo. And now that we are WAY off topic...
