Hi everyone! It's been awhile since the last time I was on this site, mainly because I moved from California to Oregon ("transplant"...). I use to log in under the name "SouthLakeSoldier", but have since changed it to "ORCA" :brows: So who on here is located in the Northwest? I'm in Eugene, OR and drive an 88 MJ and 97 ZJ. Both are gray with black rims. The MJ has a 7.5" lift and the ZJ has a 3" lift. Unfortunately, I had to consolidate a lot of my webspace and I lost a lot of pics of my trucks in the process. Here's an older photo of the MJ (some of you older members might remember it): As much as I want to tear into my truck now that i'm settled here, I can't. I'm undergoing shoulder reconstructive surgery in a few days and will be out of commission for about 12 weeks. I will be frequenting the site a lot more now, and hopefully can dig up my old project threads. It's good to be back! I miss this place.

Sorry to hijack, and I know it's been awhile since i've been here... fiatslug87, do you have any schematics on the tail light wiring? My turn signals and brakelights are all boogered  PS if you could email the PDF for the electrical manual that'd be great too Thank you ! Again I apologize about the hijack. :hateputers:

Thank you! And thanks for the PM (I think that was you?).

Anyone have a schematic of the tail lights for an 88 long bed? Thanks for your time! Anyway, it's been waaay too long since i've been on this forum...

Long bed tank in short bed truck?
ORCA replied to over2land's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mount it in the bed (and prove all the nay sayers to be wrong) -
FYI I sold the 44 out of my MJ for $400.
-
Go big or go home. :thwak: Summit sells pretty cheap wheels too. If your looking to push your stock tires out I would recommend less back spacing (like 3.75-4")

Peterson's and playboys. Hoked awn phawnics dunt worked 4 mee.

6" Lift...what else should i expect to change
ORCA replied to offroader461's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got stock steering and around the same lift and it seems fine to me. Am I nuts? yep. take a look at the TRE at the pitman arm. It's likely near maxed out at static ride height. Now droop the passenger side, when the TRE maxes out and binds it puts enormous strain on the pitman arm and steering box, and in turn the unibody that the box is bolted to. I wouldn't run stock steering at 6.5", it just wasn't meant to travel that far. Even at 4" I can see abnormal TRE wear from binding. I'm going OTK with a JCR copy. Ahhh $#!& :thwak: -

Because i'm a pic lady of the night: V8 ZJ steering  Comparison My old steering set up was not broken - I just felt the need to upgrade. Puny steering with 35's just stunk of disaster. Plus now I have a complete back up set for the trail. But honestly I know nothing about TJ steering and if it'll work or not. Sorry :thwak:

I wish someone over here in the states would just freaking buy one of those super jeeps already...  BTW there's a grand cherokee down the street with a conversion like that done too it. It looks more landroverish, but i'm sure the head room is amazing! I'll snap a picture of it today if it's around.

You mean something like this? That was my brothers 242 snapping the mainshaft where the speedo gear splines are. maximum suckage rebuilding a t-case instead of wheeling the next day. Ouch! Never heard that sound before... (knock on wood :thwak: )

Did you hit the ole starter with ye olde hammer yet? I know it's a little rudimentary but it's usually my issue with rain + no starts. BTW wtf are "points" and "condensers"? ;) hahaha :headpop:

Yeah, you had a rare jewel there. The only folks I know that ever made a bolt-in rear sway for the MJ (SWB only) was/is Performance System Technology in NJ. Design was bad on theirs as they used the stock upper shock mount with a simple "L" bracket for the sway bar retainer. I think a well designed rear sway for a lifted MJ with discos would be useful for highway driving. The PO had the entire rear end replaced (brand new 44, shocks, etc ) - maybe he had the shop throw in a swaybar? Who knows, the 44 and bar are both gone. Kinda wish I still had it... BTW I have a LWB, maybe it was custom? :brows: I'd like to think so Coulda Woulda Shoulda. But you really think a rear sway bar would have much benificial effects? Maybe if your bed is loaded up, but empty (which I guess is a rare thing for us manche owners) seems to me like it wouldn't do much. Anyone care to enlighten me further on this matter?

I agree it may prove to be a waste of time. My RE hack n tap kit would not seal worth a damn, I couldn't imagine a home brew set up being any better (atleast anything that I could produce  ).
-
Weird, I guess it was after market. The PO didn't know much about the truck and apparently neither do I.... Too bad I threw it out :thwak:
-
SouthLakeSoldier: You have a rear sway bar on your Comanche? Aftermarket or what?
-
Lifted or stocker? Once lifted, all bets are off if you remove the sway bar. :brows: However I personally don't run the rear sway bar on my comanche and really don't notice a difference. (Knock on wood) I haven't been in anything serious with that truck...

I'm pretty pumped about it too. Where you guys gettin yours? Pre order?

If you ain't first, your last!
