Not saying I know everything but I had a couple of great instructors while I was in Boy Scouts for 5 years. My scout master was in the navy for 20 years and the assistant scout master was in the marine corp for 20 years, he is also a ranger for the city police (basically our SWAT), and he is a certified FBI firearms instructor. Between the two of them they can answer any question or make anything. Back to the point, I can pretty well use any firearm with good results. However we never covered the pros and cons of different brands, which is why I started this thread. Seeing how well that poorly kept sig held up to its abbuse and kept ticking, and the fact that the rental glock was broke I am planning to get a sig however I still want to fire a 226 or 229 in .40 cal as a comparison. And as for someone rushing you from 20 feet, most people are unable to get a shot off before the attacker reaches the shooter.... That's where some hand to hand classes come in.. I really should have typed this out on my laptop instead of my phone, would have saved 30 min of typing... :hmm:

I went to a range that had a rental 9mm Sig 226 and poped off 50 rounds. the gun it self was in poor condition, appeared not to have been cleaned or oiled in a while.. however it was very accurate and had little recoil and so far i like it better than the 9mm glocks i have fired. here are my targets at 20-30 feet. all bullets hit the 9 or better. 1, nothing special just 3 to the head and several body shots 2, less accurate but emptied the clip quickly 3, just normal shooting

some how i don't remember posting that quote... I was asking about personal experiences with these firearms so that i may know the 1 in 1000000 chance that a glock barrel may fail or that the slide an a M92 Barreta may crack, or the trigger reset spring in a sig breaks.. every pistol has its ups and downs, and personal preference plays into a bias opinion. I think it is safe to conclude that it is not safe to use cheap reloaded ammo.... can we move on now? ____ The FN Five-seneN is a nice gun, but the one i held has huge. the guy at the gun counter said they where pretty accurate at distant range (past normal pistol range). Robert and I are trying to find a range to go to today that has rental guns.

unloaded is a good point, while dad was a police officer one of his co-workers shot their foot one night, because he practiced bringing the gun to shooting position while in bed... and he apparently had shot his tv at some point before... some people just won't learn

Somehow I have mud splatters even there. No clue how I (or my daughter) managed that. :dunno: that takes some real talent :rotfl2:

Excellent post. If you and everyone with access to the weapon is not prepared to use it, it is probably a greater liability than an asset! :agree:

i think the cleanest spot on my MJ would be the gauge cluster, behind the lens :rotfl2:

my transmission leaks and the oil manages to find its way to the exhaust pipe where it burns off :ack:

I broke down all the pistols i was looking at the pawn shops, maybe a little more than the guy on the other side of the counter would have liked

Mostly it will be a carry pistol and something to have by the bed at night. while carrying it may mostly be at work or in the WK. I plan to take it to the range once a week for the first month or so i have it so i can get some trigger time in... All I am looking for is personal experience with the different brands all the fourms i read over are dated by a few years. __ I spent about 18+ hours this week reading up on the Guns and their ammo, and have came to the conclusion that shot placement is the most important aspect. A .45 does me no good if i can't hit them where its needed, and there is only a fraction of a size difference between the 9mm and the .40. You can pretty much bet if someone attacks me they will be getting the whole clip whether it be 7 .45 or 15 Hydro-shock 9mm, the LEOs at the Gyms we own all say the same thing "dead men don't talk" or in this day and age won't sue you for something stupid "emotional trauma", "causing hardship" or "permanent scaring". If the attacker is drunk or hyped up on drugs that pain of being shot may not register and they only stop once they bleed out or destroy the Brain or upper spine. People are different and they react different to being shot, a heart shot might drop them right in their tracks or it could take 5-8 seconds for lack of oxygen to the brain to stop them. while yes, bullet size can play part into stopping an attacker anything smaller than a S&W .500 is not a 1 shot wonder. This is why I am just asking about the firearm it self.

I just turned 21 and i am in the process of getting my Pistol/concealed carried permit. Currently I am looking at a 9mm Sig 226, .40 cal Sig 228, .380 cal P238 and a .40 cal Glock 23 at the local pawn shops. All the guns are under 500 dollars but if i get a Glock I will spend a little extra to get a new Gen. 4 model 23. I don't really want to start up another caliber war, so that said I am just asking opinions about the Guns themselves, personal experience, and so on... I personally Like the Sigs, they have an external hammer and a de-cocking lever, and they all come with a safety lever. Dad owns a .380 Cold Mustang Pocketlite and I like it a lot its easy to conceal, Sig now produces the Colt Mustang as the P238. I have used Glocks and think they are a great firearm that will keep ticking about as long as our 4.0s. Glock is nice that it is simple, point and shoot, but my only turn off is no real safety. I also looked at some S&W and H&K .40 cal pistols but they did not "feel right". Another I looked at and handled was a .40 cal. Walter PPS, it felt good but it had a limited magazine capacity. The only pistols I have shot are 9mm Glock 19, .40 Glock 22, and .380 Colt Mustang Pocketlite (Sig makes it as the P238), so my first hand knowledge is fairly limited. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

It might be because of my headache but do you mean you have water dripping from your exhaust pipe, from the inside or collecting and running down the outside of the pipe? water in gas can cause the dripping and can also kill other sensors. for example my uncles Mercury Cougar V6 had a design flaw where water vapor would collect on the Deferential Pressure Exhaust Sensor (or something like that) and would short out the sensor... after replacing them once a week for 3 weeks i started to use water remover and that solved the problem. I use Heet fuel treatment every tank (yellow Bottle) once a month i will use another treatment in a red bottle by Heet and once every few months I will run Sea foam. Thank God for spell check, my headache is starting to get to me... :(

Guage cluster swapping questions
Blue88Comanche replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
90 down will be a direct swap, another way is if the plastic is blue it will work. you will need to change the sending units for coolant temp and oil pressure. maybe someone can chime in with the part numbers for the sending units. -
