GVWR Ratings - 4.0 MJ
Blue88Comanche replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
sorta. supposedly those numbers are for a 2.5L equipped truck. since the 4.0 drivetrain weighs more, either the 4.0 gvwr numbers will be higher, or the 4.0 truck has a reduced payload. and it looks like the 4.0L gvwr is higher to keep the payload numbers the same. :hmm: so all the weight data id for the 2.5Ls is all the towing and hauling data also 2.5? and did the metric ton package have the 2.5L as a option? I ask because it shows the weight and payload for that package as "optional" on my 3rd pic.. guess i am a little lost :dunno: -

Firefox is awesome. I remember when we lived in Orange Beach, we had a 4 digit phone number. and we seemed to always have a computer. Dad's first PC was a Commodore 64, my uncle back then said you will never use more than a couple megabytes in a lifetime... well I have at least 1 TB used up on my Desktop.

yes it is meant to cool people. where Dad works the heat index is almost always over 115 in the yard, and the ac in his "office" does not work. he liked the idea and wants to make one now That is how it works. We thought this might be a good project to include my little brother on as it should be fairly easy and cheap to make. We were looking for ideas to make it work better but still keeping it on the cheap side as well. I think they have an ice machine on site so ice refills shouldn't be a problem.

Dad works at a pipe welding/ spooling base as a safety medic and was riding around the stations checking on everyone when he saw this A/C homebrew contraption on one of the weld inspectors engineer carts. Has anyone here made an ice chest A/C unit before or could offer suggestions as to how to improve this one? I think Dad wants me to make him one now... Here are the core parts list that was given to dad: Transmission fluid cooler Bilge pump Universal radiator fan Cooler 4 inch elbow pipes and it all need to run off a 12v system the first thought to make it cool better was salt, but depending on the radiator and pump used it may corrode them internally. The next thought was to make a closed system with 2 radiators (one to cool the air and the other in the ice water to cool the coolant) then any corrosion from salt water would be on the exterior. the guy that had the actual set up wanted to try Dry ice, but then the dry ice would need to be separated from the air cooler/blower because of co2. Anyway we thought it was neat, and wanted to know if anyone here has done something similar

that sounds easier than what i was wanting to do for personal use... lol

you could host your own home web email server... use ubuntu server (free) and google how to set up the email part (free most of the time) then make a free domain via no-ip.com (free).. if you want to run it on a Virtual machine use Virtualbox (its free) for example I am running my server on a virtual machine on my desktop at home that stays on most/all of the time.. i have a domain name through no-ip.com so i don't need to use my house ip address (that changes too much). My current web page is http://blue88comanche.no-ip.org all it currently does it redirect to my build thread on Comanche Club. eventually i am going to get around to figuring out the whole email thing.

metric ton springs lifted?
Blue88Comanche replied to codymanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Using those measurements gave me a measurement of 10.5 -10.25 inches sorry it took so long for the measurements, so much rain.. That sounds about right with aftermarket leafs. I say this because when they produce the leaf springs now they're using better calibrated presses, but following what could have been a loose machine original. So even through you had to ad 2.5" up front (do you have a large bumper?) to level it out you truely are only about an inch in the rear higher than factory spec. my first guess was way off, my springs where apparently sagging very bad. i still need to measure the front to see where it is. the current set up in the front is V8 ZJ variable rate coils, 2.5 inch spacers and i have a Warn Trans4mer Grille Guard center, with Brush Guards, and the winch carrier (no winch yet) not sure how much weight its adds. -

Those rear sway bars only work on SWB MJs because of the different location of the shock mounts in the SWB vs. the LWB. is there not a kit for the LWB MJs?
-
Oceanic815 has put a rear swaybar kit on his MJ and liked it, he sent me a link but the link no longer works.

my uncle Just got me started on collecting American coins 1964 and older.. those coins are actually made with silver. and if Coininflation.com is correct then the coin IS worth more as silver than face value. I also have some coins from other countries, here are a couple: sorry for the large pics

the SWB and LWB Leaf springs are the same, as far as interchangeability goes any way. if its not raining again when i get home I will measure the ride height so we know for sure how much actual lift i am getting and how much "lift" was due to badly sagging springs being replaced with new ones. but because you are SOA then do expect to get at least 1/2 to 3/4 inches of lift due to the leaf pack being thicker -
metric ton springs lifted?
Blue88Comanche replied to codymanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yes my leaf packs where sagging a lot, but the coil springs where brand new V8 ZJ springs and i had to use a 2.5 inch spacer to lift the front of the truck so it wouldn't look stupid, so thats how i made my guess of about 3 inches. my stock sized 225/75R15 tires looked way too small so i upped the size to 31x10.5R15 and that made it look "right". I have had the springs for about a year and they have not lost the expected 1/2 to 1 inch yet. I was going to take actual measurements yesterday but it stormed... -
Well we had a thunder storm that came through and stormed for hours, and had a ton of lightning and thunder. Our beagles where terrified. I was at the store when the storm started and the power went out a couple times while i was there. the internet for my phone was not working so i was unable to turn off my computer while i was stuck in mobile, and thus my Desktop PC was zapped by lightning AGAIN. after i got home Snoopy was so terrified he curled up at the end of the hall and would not leave that spot unless i carried him to another room. I finally got him settled down and set out a blanket under the china cabinet where he stayed for till I took him home with me last night. When we did get home I let him stay in the house till people stopped shooting off their Large and Loud fireworks, all he wanted to do was hide under the desk in my room. At about 10 PM Mom calls, Mayhem their 9 month old beagle, is hiding under the addition to the house from all the fireworks and won't come out, they tried calling her, tried giving her treats, and some chicken we made for our dogs, and she still would not come out. I am apparently her favorite person because when mom calls her in she may or may not come in, but if I call her she usually comes running. So I get over Mom and Dad's house and Dad had part of the patio dug up trying to find her, I called her a few times and she slowly came out to where i could get her. That was my Independence Day, I hope yours was better. And on a side note, we are celebrating our Independence thus Independence Day, not the 4th day of July. More and more people just celebrate the 4th of July as a big party, and not the real reason for the Holiday the 4th was noted for, America's Independence, and remembering all those who fought to obtain it. But that's modern Americans for you, I wouldn't be surprised that in 10 years or so we stop calling Christmas by its name and start calling it the 25th of December, I have already seen Xmas cards so there is the first step... :USAflag:

metric ton springs lifted?
Blue88Comanche replied to codymanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got my Metric Ton springs from Hell creek for about $450 - $500 shipped can't remember for sure the price. the ride is as good as its going to get with shocks that are too short, but it is not rough almost stock like ride. they gave me about 3 - 4 inches of lift in the rear from stock 4x4 packs top spring is Stock bottom are Hell Creek's MT springs Before: After: I leveled it out some with 2.5 inch spacers in the front to get my current setup. I haven't really had anything heavy enough in the bed to lower the rear lower than the front. the heavyist thing i moved was my aunts trailer with about 1000 lbs of rocks and several bails of hay -
well it stormed all day and lightning zapped my computer while I was at my parents house.. on the plus side it topped out at 70 degrees
