How Does An Aal Kit Work?
Blue88Comanche replied to MJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
how do i go about adding an AAL? I have my old 4wd leaf packs I was thinking about using to add to Dad's MJ leaf packs.. is it just a matter of unbolt and re-bolt? -
I like our Advanced auto parts, its only 2 minuets from my house. Most of the staff there know me and what I work on, usually they will already have the Comanche stuff pulled up by the time I get to the counter. but they are the only parts store i have used because they are the just down the street from me. so i can't really say much about the other ones in town.

Catch Cans, Anyone Use Them?
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a new style cover I may put on it, but this is something simple that will help keep the system clean in the future should it ever start blowing oil again. its a free / cheap mod that's simple to do so why not? I was planning to fix the blow by issue anyway. -
I think they are at Rob's place..

Catch Cans, Anyone Use Them?
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
dad's MJ has an oil soaked air filter, so doing this will help prevent that and give me a heads up if it starts acting up again after i fix the problem. good to hear first hand knowledge.. my current design is a mason Jar with 2 tubes in the lid and it sealed with black gasket around the tubes. i did not have a Comanche with me when i bought the tubes so it looks like i will end up getting some adapters to make it work, but it shouldn't be a big issue -
I was on the Jeepgarage.org forum last night when i came across a post about catch cans. So with the theory that it will collect blow by oil before it gets to the air intake and filter, I decided to make one for dad's MJ as it currently has it pretty bad. I know the best solution would be to fix the problem, but this is a good time for me to experiment and have a little fun. does anyone use a catch can on their MJ? Borrowed pic of basic catch can theory

What lift kits are y'all running?
Blue88Comanche replied to Dedaw's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it would be a good idea to replace your D35 axle while running anything larger than stock tires. -
rain guard trim?
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the part that my grandfather gave me was black, if it was once stainless all that trim was repainted at some point which may be why the black paint is chipping off all the other metal trim on my MJ.. -
How do i put remove and put the rain guard trim on above the doors? I ask because the driver's side rain guard trim had been missing for the past 10 years or so, and my grandfather found it in his garage the other day.. needless to say i want to put it on and repaint the other one to match.

Black89Comanche - Dad's First Comanche
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Had a very long and productive day today. I started out this morning by cleaning and painting the bumper. dad mounted the rear bumper and the tire carrier. While dad was working on the bumper and tire hanger I swapped out the Brake booster and Master Cylinder. It was from a 01 XJ.- 41 replies

the frame of the red MJ looked to be 100% rust free. if we had the money dad wanted to buy the frame and make it a trailer.. the red MJ had a D35 not sure what the other had as it was missing.
-
i checked the door, the sticker was faded out completly.. where might the build sheet be hidden if it is still there?
-
i forgot to add that the red SWB MJ had a Comanche bed liner. we where going to get it, but it was in bad condition.
