Dad and I swapped my front axle the other day. I can finally use 4wd again! the extra comanche tailgate makes a nice work bench / tool tray Dad snapped a picture of me I hate spring compressors removed the old axle (left) and getting ready to install the "new" one (right) I plan to swap on some WJ lower control arms so I trimmed the area around the LCA a little aligning up the LCA finished axle swap! -
Turbine styled cake! I should have done that!! lol

We had my birthday party last Saturday, and like the past few years it sucked... anyway I wanted to share a picture of the cake had the 18-55mm lens not died I could have gotten a better picture of the cake. I had to use my 70-300mm lens, you won't know how much you will miss the smaller lens till you are forced to take pictures across the room... lol

1989 Mj 2Wd To 4Wd Conversion
Blue88Comanche replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Dads MJ is current a 4.0/AW-4 2wd we are just going to swap the 2wd AW-4 for a 4wd AW-4 with a 242 bolted on it. The least we would need to do is swap front axle, swap trannys, shorten or replace rear drive shaft, get a front drive shaft. (the gears will need to match in the front and rear axles) -
To remove them start on the front or rear side of the guard and rotate it upward. I only had one on my MJ so I removed it. I later found some in a P & P but the drivers side "the side without the guard" rusted and ballooned the clip locations somehow so now I and get the new guards on till I fix that

Walmart has a small 500-1000 lb winch for about 50 dollars. I could not imagine what they would have been good for due to the size of the winch (would look like a proper winch on the mini jeep) -
Odd Sounds From 242
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I can, I am going to start by replacing the CV joint on the front Drive shaft. I already replaced the u-joint that connects to the front axle. If the sound returns, I will replace the chain. If that does not stop it then I will be looking into thermite and a new TC. But seeing as it only makes bad sounds when the front drive shaft is spinning hopefully it is just the CV joint and not the internals of my transfer case- 10 replies

Leaking Fuel Injectors
Blue88Comanche replied to daltonmcgill7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I could only find one good photo from the other day... so to break it down. This is an injector with out the spacer and o-ring here is a out of focus picture of the metal spacer and on the felt is an injector with the o-ring and spacer, toe one on the right just has the spacer on it. I did have 2 of the rail side o-rings and spacers get stuck in the fuel rail, and used a very small allen wrench to get them out. we cleaned the injectors with sea foam, and cleaned the injector port on the engine with carb cleaner. dads MJ no longer has a leaking fuel rail or a tapping engine. -

Leaking Fuel Injectors
Blue88Comanche replied to daltonmcgill7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got my kit from advance auto parts. They called it a fuel rail o ring kit. It came with 12 o rings and a little tool to put the rings on the injectors. Just remember there is a little metal spacer disc thing on the rail side of the injector that you will need to keep up with. I need to check my pictures from the other day that may help -

Clutch Cylinder Leaking Into Cab
Blue88Comanche replied to 420manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To replace the master clutch cyl is easy. Disconnect the clutch line, disconnect the petal, remove the 2 bolts holding the clutch cyl to the fire wall. After it is on bleed the system -
Clutch Cylinder Leaking Into Cab
Blue88Comanche replied to 420manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Replace the master clutch cyl. When you replace it use dot 5 brake fluid, it will not eat up the fuses if it leaks. Make sure you get all the dot 3 out of the system. If the fuse box is in good shape replace all the fuses and clean it out with terminal cleaner. If the box is too far gone then replace it. -
