Old Bessie - Swedish Workhorse Gets New Life

nice truck. I have never see that trim before, overall its pretty clean. maybe you could mount the turn signals on the rack behind the cab. do you guys use road salt in the winter? for the rust if you don't have the time to pull the bed and grind it all off you could spray it with used motor oil that would at least slow everything down. if you do have the time then I would suggest pulling the bed and going to town on rust prevention and eradication. my truck was in basically the same as yours when I got it, I spent 4 months after work scraping and grinding the entire underside and the coated it with POR15. -

just throwing something out there the TBI dose make a ticking sound and it is most noticeable at idle with the air cleaner off. as far as the rest of the symtoms you described I also had similar problems. I also thought it was my fuel pump and when I checked the fuel pressure it was only at 10psi. when o pulled out the sending unit from the tank I found that the rubber hose that comes off the pump and runs to the port on the outside had almost completely disintegrated. you could hear the pump running but it was spraying out of the hose inside the tank. just something else to consider -
Nice truck & color. welcome

you might want to get more than one seal. my 1st attempt at installing it sent me back to the parts store for another one. if your lucky enough to get it on the 1st go round then you have a spare -

mine is an 87 2.5l and in the beginning had the 4 speed, I have since put the 5 speed in it. I'm running 32" with 4:56 gears, this seams to have brought it mostly back to stock on the road, it just takes a bit of time to overcome my rolling weight

check with your local parts store for a new locking ring and seal before you reassemble. as for the sending unit as a whole I'm not sure they are still avalabe so be carful

as for the ride. the back end feels ok, it certainly dose not jump around when its empty. I think the ride is kind of harsh in the front. I would like to do a long arm some day. have not loaded it down to badly its my toy. the most I ever had in it was maybe 600lbs of landscape supplies. I can't say it squatted to badly. as far as the rub and the cut it took me a year to finaly chop off the bottom of the front fender up to the side marker lights. in the back I have trimed about 1/2" from the front and back about 8" from the bottom of the fenders. I also have about 3" of bump stops in the front and back to keep the wheel from stuffing all the way up. I still have pretty good flex, the front axle drops really great. I have the Rubicon 3.5" super flex lift on the front

these to are on 30" tires here is a few of my Hell Creek 3" lift springs side by side with my stock springs and this is how she sits 1 1/2 years later on 32" tires
