Just went to the 135 Auto JY south of Corydon, IN to pick up a transfer case. (Mine has bitten the dust).
They pulled one for me.
Thought I would let everyone know that this yard has 4 MJ's and a number of XJ's.
Not too many good parts on the MJ's, but some. At least 1 of the XJ's was a '90 4.0 4X4 5 sp.
The MJ I got my transfer case out of was a 5 sp also.
FYI...
I don't get on here as much as I used to. Frankly you're going to have to search. As this was 2 years ago, I really don't remember which wires it was.
Sorry...
Good deal man, did a fine job.com and glad to see you kept it around as it must have been meant to. :D now on to tech questions perhaps you could enlighten me on those two wires as well be swaping in my ax-15 shortly and perhaps save me a simular headache shearching for it. Thanks man.
What is wrong with mine is unknown as I have not taken it apart. The symptom is in 4x4 something is slipping and popping. I thought it was the spider gears in the front axle. The sound seemed to come from the front. After opening up the pumpkin and checking the CAD, I determined that the problem is not in the axle. All gears looked great. I welded the 2 piece axle while in there because I thought maybe the collar of the CAD was messed up inside and causing the issue. Drove it and same issue. So, I grabbed the front drive shaft and moved it and the inside of the Xfer case made some ratting sounds. Not good. I figure I may be able to pick one up at a bone yard cheaper than tearing into it and buying parts to fix.
Sadly I used to have a spare and sold it about a year ago. Was unemployed and needed $.
My 90's transfer case needs replaced. I had one over a year ago and sold it. Figures.
I need to get another. I knew the wranglers were clocked differently. Thanks. Just wasn't sure if the bolt pattern, input, etc. was the same from auto to manual. If they are the same, then my search will be easier.
I'm in car sales now. I was talking to a customer that was driving a jeep and I mentioned the manche. He immediately asked me if I wanted to sell. He has been looking for one.
Additionally one of the other salesmen here asked me if I wanted to sell it when he first saw it.
Nope and nope.
See I think he should've stayed a bit north... Especially if he's a college basketball fan.
Seriously though, looks like you're in a nice area. As you can tell by my sig pic, I like to ride. I get down to smokey mtn national park as much as I can. You look to be pretty close to that.
Enjoy the new life. Things move a bit slower than they do up in the NE.
yep, those little 2.3's were also in rangers, mustangs, and turbo versions in the thunderbird and mustang.. Many of them around.
There used to be a lot of aftermarket support for them, but I don't know the current status of them.
