    Hey Guys...

Yea, I get them all the time :fs1: :hmm: In fact........all my hair is Wild :D Good to see you stop in SW2 :wavey: Thought you got tired of our harassment.........uh, er, advice..... and was taking a break from us
  2. Bust :( I found the member I was thinking about, and all his photebucket images are gone too :headpop: It.........It like he just evaporated  And also hasn't posted since Feb '09 :dunno:
  3. I pulled one BA10 that just would not come loose :fs1: I could even spin it around, so I know all the bolts were out. I ended up using a come-a-long from the tranny to the rear axle to "Pull" it free, the only thing I could think of was the input shaft got hung up on the pilot bearing :headpop: And, yes, I had a tranny jack under it the whole time, so it was not the problem with it being misaligned with the engine.
  4. :agree: That's why I stripped a couple 2wd AW4 before I junked them :D Plus, I pulled the Kick down cable at the same time :brows: *Try finding one of those at the part store*
  5. Yes, I've heard of that before, you would need one With Out Altitude. That would be one for the Rocky's area, like Denver, "mile high city", from you tag, your in Florida, and that's like what, below sea level :hmm: Similar to some parts that are spect'ed to California Emissions.
  6. Alright.........the jury is in :D My Theory of Reality would make Albert proud  LWB gas tank (23.5 gallon) Fuel Sending Unit - And as thought...........Short 2-1/2" float arm.........so the short arm wins.............or something like that :hmm:
  7. Yea, way back, about 2 years ago, there was that guy in Washington state that had a lumber rack on his MJ.........there's one posted on the classified now.......I think, but not as good as the first one. I don't have time now, but maybe tonight, to look for it, if you can't find it. There also a couple other pictures that were posted over the years. Check the early project section to see if anything shows up :dunno:
  8. For that price, jump on it. If it's only body damage, there are a lot of '97+ sitting in the junk yards from the C4C deal. That same XJ around here........people are expecting to get 1500-2 grand on C-list
  9. Good deal :D And Free Shipping  Even a better deal  If the frame is totally shot, you have alot of parts there :brows: Just for S & G, pull the tranny inspection plate, and check if the bolts have backed out from the torque converter, common problem, and it acts like the tranny is shot
  10. Tranny slipping and shifting points off are two different things. deziped is correct that it could be an electrical problem, if it's not shifting correctly. Here's a over all check for the AW4 TCU's electrical/solenoids - http://www.transonline.com/transdigest/ ... index.html JTDesign had this problem couple years ago, and traced it down to one bad solenoid, he replaced that and it solved his problem. You need to drop the pan to get to the solenoids, 3 if I remember right, and I think Napa carries them........about $20 each :hmm: Once you drop the pan, you'll also get a good look at the guts to see if you have other problems.........like 5 pounds of shavings, brown (burnt) fluid.
  11. I've heard you would have better luck with an OEM from the dealer........... But, I've bought a couple aftermarket ones and had good results........(I'm cheap) This is from http://www.rockauto.com - AIRTEX Part # 5S1799 More Info {#33004761, SU3228} Part Image $29.79 STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # PC87 More Info {19" Pigtail} Pick-up and Crankshaft Position sensor assembly. Part Image $34.79 I've used the Standard, and re-placed 2-3 of them with no problem.
  12. Yup, that could be your problem. Moister in the air + cracked case on the module = bad ignition problems  Also.......what condition are the plug wire in, like good quality newer wires???? something not out of the bargain bin at the parts store. Next time you in your JY, grab one, make sure it's for the Renix system, and swap it in, could solve a few other problems that you been posting about.........well, except for the Dakota lights
  13. :dunno: I think I missed that lecture by Al :hmm: You would think someone would come up with a hat strap to solve that problem with the hat blowing off after all these year :dunno: My problem is.........what I thought was right, someone changed my mind, either proven right or wrong.......and with the 20 other things I have to remember everyday, they get crossed with each other..........and I get things mixed up  I'll see if I can pull that tank apart this weekend, and prove my theory :D
  14. So.........the 'ole girl is telling you something :hmm: Now you need to fix it and keep it  Otherwise..........picking up a used AW4 is not a hugh deal, getting one re-build is. If you can find the right deal, you could increase the value of the MJ for the sale also :D Newer, lower mileage tranny installed. What you don't want to do, is sell it in the condition that it in, as a smooth running, no problems at all, for top buck, and then have some guy named 'Bruno' come knocking on your door with a baseball bat, in the middle of the night
  15. It's all about 2 pounds :D It what the coil sits on, and plugs into. Most odd electrical problems, stalls, no starts can lead to a bad ground, bad ground cable. As you described, you were sitting and idling..........and stalling out. Take the obvious out, like the CPS, and with the engine bay getting hot, and just stalling, could be the ignition module getting heat soaked, and shutting down. Was a big problem with Ford vans in the 80's, the coil was mounted on top of the intake manifold, and with the dog house on, the engine would shut down *been there, had that  * the solution was to move the coil off the manifold, and mount it on the "fire wall" to solve the problem of the coil getting too hot. It has been a problem with the older Renix systems too, plus think about it, it's 22+ years old too  Too much heat, and the module/coil shut down, you sit, let it cool, and it re-starts. That gave it time to get to a temperature that it would operate at, and got you going again.
  16. Crankshaft Position Sensor I bet you just want me to type that all out.......did you  Here's a link, and about 3/4 down the page will give you the testing of it, and the replacement of it, and this saves me a lot of extra typing :D http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... ostics.htm Geonovast wanted to do alot of typing before I got my reply in....... :D But, he's spot on
  17. :hmm: You did say you were going to sell it........didn't you  Even thought the AW4 is a great reliable tranny........yes, Virgina, they do die :(
  18. Sounds more like the CPS is tell you it's time for a new one. You could unplug it and plug the connector back in, but that will only buy you some more time. If it was the alternator, the red light would have come on, or the gauge would have shown 0 volts. The trick to check the alternator, with the engine running, remove the positive battery post, if the truck stays running, the alternator is OK, if it dies, the alternator is going south. Could also be bad fuel, or a dirty fuel filter :hmm:
  19. And add.........after you run it a few time, cold/hot/cold, check the torque, them little 1/4" bolts like to work loose real easy :fs1: Oh, and welcome newbie :waving:
  20. It could be the TBS out of adjustment, the TCU starting to go, you know there is a fuse for the TCU on the block??? marked "Trans" http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Tra ... ostics.htm Also, check the throttle cable adjustment- http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Tra ... cement.htm
  21. Yea, swearing at it, slamming the door and kicking a tire or two gets them starts some times too.............. .......... :D Other wise.........sounds like you got something that getting heat soaked :hmm: Coil, ignition module :dunno:
  22. If I may suggest.........if your on a tight budget, and seen how MJ springs are getting very hard to find (although I have a few sets......) take the truck to a spring shop, like a big Truck spring shop, not some dude wrencher on the corner, and have them check them out, and hear what they have to say. I had to have my E350 springs redone a couple months ago, and they left the main spring in place, and not having to deal with the bushings, and they added 2 new spring leafs, sandwiched in the pack, re-using the entire pack, and installed new center pins, and new U-bolts for $100 less than I could have bought 2 new leaf spring packs for the beast. Just adding the new leafs, re-arched, and re-support the main leaf, picked the back end up 3 inches, and added to my hauling weight ;)
  23. At one time we were thinking that the 2-1/2" float arm was for the LWB (23.5 gallon) tank, and the 5-1/2" float arm was for the SWB (18 gallon) tank, them someone said that was wrong :dunno: It make sense that the longer arm would have a greater radius sweep, making up for less volume, and I still think that.........but until I get time to pull a sending unit out of a LWB tank I have pulled.........like I said, the jury is still out on that...........but, I think you have the correct one  You might be just snagging it on the reservoir pan while your installing the sending unit, and once you get that 'Inspection camera' down in there, you'll find out for sure ;)
  24. I wouldn't hesitate a minute on that deal :D Most of the rust buckets I have in the fleet were $250 - $350, about the same condition you described. Only thing, most of them ran, it's the frame that the metal eating termites got to :( What are you waiting for :dunno: grab a tow dolly, take the cash with you, and have a great time dragging it home :D Not now, but a couple months ago, you could have re-cooped your 'investment' with selling the tail lights on e-bay.......... :teehee: And I agree.......you'll brake even with just the engine. Post up pictures when you get it back home
  25. I have an account with C.R. Laurence, they do not make the tri-vent any more, just the 4 panel. I've orders some, and double checked. I just check the stock, and there are none available.......anywhere. I'm sure if we placed an order for 50, they might make them for us :dunno: I'm sure the guy on e-bay, which I've seen that listing before, is just using an old stock photo for his add. The last time I seen the Tri-vent was about 3 years ago, and when they were gone, that was it. I'm just letting you know that even thought you think it a 3 lite slider, if you buy one from him, it will be a 4 lite in the box. Oh, and there are 23 Duo-vent available at this time........ http://www.crlaurence.com/crlapps/showL ... delID=1653
