Wildman replied to lostissues's topic in The Pub
I have no idea right now......bought it a few years ago, and can't remember  Maybe Campbell-Hausfeld?? Yea, like I said, for small pocket cuts......it's the best for a nice clean cut. And if you can find a use for them tinny half moons......more power to ya :brows: -

Wildman replied to lostissues's topic in The Pub
Like any other tool......an air nibbler has it's pro's and con's. I like it for small cuts, and curves, easy to cut in any direction, that's why it's a little harder to keep a straight cut with the nibbler. great for small pocket cuts, where you can drill a hole, and start from there. It's a little slower cutting than a share, but a lot cleaner cut than a zip wheel. I don't think I paid over $50 for mine, but for the few times that I needed it, and used it........worth it on my end ;) Plus, I bought one that will cut 16 ga cause that's mostly what I'm cutting. I don't think I've ever bogged it down while cutting. You do get a lot of little half moons flying all over the place thought  -
Yea......there really pricey, but - http://www.teamcherokee.com/Weatherstrip/index.html Or find some good ones in a junk yard?????

The jeep dont like to start
Wildman replied to NewToJeeps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I didn't mean to come off in a bad way......about the info.....and yea I know, we all forget things  What your dealing with is a 20 year old truck......and engine, and what happens to rubber after 20 years?????? Yea, it dry rots, crumbles apart, and looses it's volume over that amount of time. What you need to do, and I've done this, and other have too, is take some time, and $$$, go thru all the info here, and other places and just start at one point and replace all the 20 year old seals and gaskets. It will take a couple of days to do this, but the end results are, no more oil leaks, and better running and service to you :D IE: the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, all at one time. Input and output seals in the tranny, transfercase......... -
OK........Thanks for taking the time to check this out aemsee :D Guest I'll just keep looking around and stumble over some more around here

The jeep dont like to start
Wildman replied to NewToJeeps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, if oil is leaking down on to the CPS, that could cause a problem......giving the ECU a bad reading. The CPS use a magnetic field to tell the ECU when the piston is at TDC. Oil coating the sensor could have an effect on the magnet core of the sensor. If the PO did replace the CPS, it still could be a brand new "bad" CPS, others here have had problems with brand new out of the box CPS's, the only way to make sure is to do the ohm's test on it, as described in that link I posted for you. You mentioned that you did some work on the fuel system already.......see, it helps to know that up front.......to give you ideas what to check. -
The jeep dont like to start

Your auto transmission would be a AW4. The fact that your starting and running now, kind of points to the connector for the CPS......If I had time this morning......I would look up the latest tread on that, but I don't. Follow up on that tech info Here , But you should also go thru the fuel pressure check. -
Side window went down, but won't role up....
Wildman replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very common problem- The cable in the window regulator rust out and strips inside the gear. For a quick fix, pull up on the window while turning the hand crank, that will get your window shut. You don't need to take anything apart for that. Long term fix, the window regulator needs to be replaced. TeamCherokee do carry the window regulators, for about $100+ and the only place that carry them. Find a donor in the junk yard, and a 4 door Cherokee will work, only from the front doors and pull the regulator out and switch it with your bad one, or find someone on here whom has some window regulators. There's a write up on changing the regulator around here some where. -

Is that a left coast thing......the "junk" title??? Here in NY, I buy a junker, get a "bill of sale" and the title signed by the owner (name on the title) and just file it, scrap the truck and done. DMV don't know nothing. Plus, we don't sniff test anything older that '96 :D :agree:

Yea......I thought of that too, but he said he had spark. Could be the dreaded connector fouling up intermediately???? Back to Here 3/4 down the page. -
Another Death Wobble Question
Wildman replied to brigarpeon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My first MJ 6 years ago was a 2.5, BA10, 2wd, I pulled about 20 mpg with it, and a dog going up a hill  The past 2 years I've been running a 4.0, BA10, 4wd and pulling 20 mpg on it, and it climes a hill like nothing. :D Of course, this is all street/highway driving. The mpg is good for what I drive, and what I can do with the truck, sure beats my E350 cube van that gets 9 mpg on it, but that's a work truck, and I make $$$ with it, and the mpg's don't bother me for that reason. You want to get 40 mpg's, get a little car for 2 people and one bag of groceries, and your set ;) -
FEY (now Westin) offers after market step and tube bumpers, thru Advance Auto - here's a list- Westin Diamondstep; Universal Style Rear Bumper Diamondstep; Black Warranty: Limited 1 Year* $138.98 Westin Bumper Mount Kit Bumper Mount Kit; Use To Install Westin Custom Step Bumper Warranty: Limited 1 Year* $53.99 Westin QUAD TUBE, BLK MOST SPORT UTIL Quad Tube; Specialty Style Bumper; 3 in. Tube; Black Warranty: Limited 1 Year* $176.99 Westin MOUNT KIT Bumper Mount Kit; Use To Install Quad Tube Bumper Warranty: Limited 1 Year* $28.99 I just re-did my FEY bumper, and notice two mounting brackets, about 3" apart, for the MJ the outer brackets worked, using the OEM step bumper brackets. I would guest the inward brackets would be for the Dakota. The FEY is listed for either a MJ or Dakota. DODGE 1987 - 2004 DAKOTA JEEP 1987 - 1992 COMANCHE The Tube bumper also list this as a match- ISUZU 1988 - 1995 PICKUP With some fab work, a Dakota bumper could be used as a replacement :dunno:

First off.......what's the spec's of your truck.....like year, engine (4.0 I hope) and then we'll hit you on some things to check.......like fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, ballast resistor.......so on ;) Here's a little trouble shooting guide for the Renix fuel system. Unhooking the battery for the Renix system don't do any thing, the Renix system stores no codes, and each start is a fresh start for the ECM. Ah.....who's the beneficiary on your life insurance???? Never mind.......we don't want to know  Only thing worst than having a rear wheel come off, is having dully 16" wheels come off a cube van, the good news was the inter wheel stayed with the truck, and kind of held the axle off the ground, saving the drum, the bad.........I had to walk a 1/4 mile down the road and get the outer wheel from someones front lawn  Them sucker really get rolling don't they????? and when they hit the a ditch, really bounce high too :D Oh......and don't ask me how I know.......But, a good torque wrench is handy  -

Steph is 10 a-head now :D And it works ;) We can really stuff the ballot box on this one. Click on the "Most Popular", bottom right, and the rest of the contents show up.

And there is a difference in the frame mounts for the tube style bumper from the OEM step bumper, and after market step bumpers (FEY). Yea, all kinds.......Here's a sample. Even thought that's listed for a Cherokee, remember, most all engine parts from '87 thru '90 are the same, and body parts from the 'B' pillar forward are the same for the Comanche, from '84 thru '96 . The doors are the same from a 4 door XJ, and the seats are a little different. And........Welcome :waving:

Now Steph is only 23 behind Erin........she gaining :D What does she need a make over for????? Oh......never mind.....I didn't ask that  Good luck JT :brows:

For $55 it a great up grade, plus being the '89 it would be a 21 spline count, and would bolt right up to your MJ. I had an 242, 21 spline offered to me around here, for $250, so I would say it's a good find :D
