i don't remember the part number as it was a while ago that I replaced it, but I took the old bar into advance auto and was able to track down a replacement using their big books behind the counter. It wasn't for a jeep IIRC it was for either GM or Ford but was able to get it and it worked wonderfully. Only thing I had to do was take a file to the inside of the bar where it mounts on the shoes as the coating on the new shoes was a little to thick.

The most reliable ones in our engines from 87-98 are the traditional champion copper plugs part number 4412 which are discontinued so now they're just 412. For the 99+ group alot of people use NGK iridium I believe due to the changes in the ignition system. These 4.0's we have prefer to be old fashioned and these new fancy v power, +2, +4, all that causes problems with engines resulting in detonation, knock, and other issues as well.

Rear springs & SOA questions
dave92cherokee replied to offroading-net's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Search function a good tool to use is young skywalker. But seriously you need to do a bunch of searching as a SOA normally gives 6" of lift. There are options for getting a mild 2-3" lift and staying SUA in the rear. -
Need Help With Next Step(s) in My Project.
dave92cherokee replied to BryGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You've got the entire thing stripped except for the rear axle so I would remove it and the suspension as well. Then before frame stiffening locate and repair all rust first as stiffening will do nothing if it's rotted out from rust. Best and easiest option would be sand blasting the frame right before welding on stiffeners to get it down to bare steel and remove any underlying rust. That's where I'd start is at the base and work your way up from stiffeners to engine mounts to suspension and continue on. If you plan it out and have the finances and space you can have the engine and trans inside the garage working on it on days that the weather prevents outside work to be done. After stiffening the frame I'd coat it with POR-15 for some good protection. -
Local guy is trying to sell his mj and figured I'd pit it up here too. What i know is its an 87 2.5 l4 2wd 4 speed. Body in good shape and is currently a DD. Has dual tube rear bumper with straight body and tailgate. Didn't see any major rust but didn't look at floorboards. Owner is asking $2000 if interested pm me for his number.

possibly stupid question ?
dave92cherokee replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Originally, no it doesn't. However as hornbrod pointed out if the cylinder wall is damaged and requires milling it out you have two options to sleeve it and get it back to factory size or go for a stroker and bore the rest of them out. -
rust removal project
dave92cherokee replied to ocbinva's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
No problem electrolysis is a very good method for removing/converting rust. I wonder how well it would do for a deep cleaning of a part too or if it would even do anything. -

Instead of using the MJ pump how about this, 1. Remove MJ pump, strainer, and everything so it's just the metal pickup tube. 2. Plug the opening for the pump and fuel feed line. 3. Get an aftermarket electric fuel pump and mount inside drivers side of bed. 4. Connect high pressure rubber fuel line from MJ return port to fuel pump. 5. Connect output of pump to Y with one line plugged for filling containers, and the other going to the XJ tank. There's several options for electric fuel pumps through autozone, oreillys auto, and other places, like summit racing. Then it can be wired up however you want and totally independent of the stock stuff.

http://www.kinseyinstitute.org/about/contact.html Might want to contact the Kinsey Institute and see if they want another one of the 2 part copies and find out what the value of it is. The Kinsey Institute has two copies of Penny published by the Mediterranean Press. One (temp. control no. AAB3155) is as described above. The other (pressmark: AAC4450) is smaller and described as being in two parts. So it looks like you've got possibly ~$150-200 for the sun pictures, and an unknown value in the copy of Penny.

Need input on rear axle options
dave92cherokee replied to mvusse's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd go with a 60 front and either 60 or 14B rear. I'd get the full floater 14B, they can be shaved and that can be done a year or so down the road. For the mean time shave the diff cover so it wouldn't get caught on anything and let it slide, just bolt on a pinion guard and should be good for a while. For tires I'd probably stick to 37's with 5.13 gears. -

You're right there's not much out there but found one website selling them for $18 each. Did a search for P.F. Kahler sun pictures and it turned up a couple of things but not much. http://shop.vendio.com/beatlelist/item/ ... index.html

http://nashville.craigslist.org/pts/2788656330.html There's someone in gallatin parting out a 94 that you can hear the engine run before it's pulled. Not sure what he's asking for it but might be worth it.

Take a look from about 1:15-1:20 when it shows him backing up. Can't tell to well but it looks like he broke part of his steering or something as there's something hanging down from the driver side of the front axle. And you wouldn't see any bus wheel spin in the video as it's an articulating bus and the drive wheels in the back are out of scene for almost the entire clip.

Don't be TOO RESPONSIBLE, or you might not get a loan
dave92cherokee replied to jpnjim's topic in The Pub
I feel your pain from the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm trying to rebuild my credit, cuz god knows EVERYTHING in this country has to do with credit score now. I've got a few collections on my report that will be paid off with tax return, a judgement that will be removed in august, and a score in the low 500's. Even though I've been at the same job for 5 years, renting a house and making timely payments every month for the same 5 years as well as a car loan in good standing for the past year nobody will do it because of that stupid number. So when we were trying to get financed for a house we liked every place i contacted said "there's nothing that we or anyone can do for you". So now only time will help. One of the guys at work had a good idea though go to a bank or somewhere and get a small loan like $2500 and then put that directly into a seperate account with automatic payments for the loan setup. That way it will rebuild your credit history and help the score and only end up costing what little bit of interest there would be.
