You can get those hoses/lines cheaper. They're sold by DORMAN also, I bought them from O'Reilly's. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... ght=dorman

Definately the sockets, had that problem on both of mine. You can get a junky Ford plastic one at most parts stores that will work. The best replacement I've found is the metal ones off a donor XJ at the pull a part. The grounds inside the sockets is the culprit.

In Take and Exhaust Manifold Removal
KYMJ replied to reddog87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I guess you've removed the air box for more room? You'll need a swivel, and a medium extension along with your 9/16 socket. You'll just have to manuver the wrenches in place around the egr tube and other things in the way, and under the intake, your're going to get greasy. Don't know what else to say, but I've done several, they get easier with time. -
Local car sales papers. They show up from time to time. Thats how I found my 4x4.

Don't forget to factor in the shop work, if you rebuild yourself.

I bought one off e-bay, don't think that was the supplier I bought from. First, I'll say that for what I paid and for a Comanche the carpet is good enough. Didn't match the original, and don't think there was a choice that really matched perfectly. But, to be fair the place I bought it from recommends sending them a piece of the old to match, I chose not to. There are places that the carpet doesn't really lay well, because it doesn't have the same backing or as much as the original. I even used some of the old backing to fill in loose places. Kind off bunches up in the gas pedal area, but most of the places are covered by the seats and console. I put this new carpet in my 4x4 and it's seen a fair amount of mud, so it really doesn't matter now. Might keep that in mind and get a rubber mat. Hope this helps. I paid $113 for mine w/shipping

Help removing fuel injector wiring clips
KYMJ replied to livesignal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I used a pocket screwdriver. I had to replace a leaker the other day. Anybody used the injectors on e-bay for $99 for the set? I paid $70 for 1. -
For those of you that must have that cup of coffee on the way to work, like me: Saw a post about cupholders for XJ's on another forum, and a for sale thread about a coin holder here some time back. Thought I'd share this. Image Not Found Bought this at Advance Auto for 6 or 7 bucks and cut what I didn't need with the Dremel and cutoff wheel. Guess I could have smoothed the edges a little better. Works great.

Just went through this, so here's my .02 worth. The old tank looked brand new and shiny on the outside where it leaked, so it must have rusted from the inside, but I couldn't see any rust, strange. I could get one on the internet for about a $100. I figured any repair would cost most of that and it could do it again in another place. I wanted to do this only once. Definately didn't want to use a used one. Also, I wanted it done quickly so I ordered a tank from Advance($199 w/my Firefighter discount) and got it done the next day. The tank came with the o-ring, and I used the old pump. Shortbed uses a different tank than the long. The only problem I had was one of the nutserts broke loose for the skidplate holding bolts, and caused me a little grief. But other than that pretty straight forward. Of course the 3" lift made it the perfect height to not need to raise the truck. Good luck!

92 MJ 2WD all stock... here it begins for me.
KYMJ replied to Jax MJ Luvr's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I did the very same thing to both of my Comanches(gutted the interior). So much easier to fix int lights, replace speakers, clean carpet, and any other odds and ends. My 2wd had the same kind of damage to the rear quarter of the bed, it's pretty flimsey and will beat out well with a your hand, rubber mallet, hand, or any other suitable tool. :D Keep up the good work. I tried to buy another yesterday to ressurect, but no luck. -
Another Grand to Comanche guy. Nice trucks. Most would be surprised what you can do in a Grand. Nice trucks.

In case you missed it elsewhere in the forum ...

Nice site. Oh yeah, I bought my 4x4 in Owensboro, it migrated to Madisonville. ;) -
You can get a 4/0 or a fatter 1/0. I went with the fatter ones, always better to go bigger. You can get both at most stores. I might be wrong on the numbers, but you can tell by the size. And I got red for pos and black for neg, but I'm picky. ;) And..... don't cut them off and put the clamp on clamps.... thats a no-no.

They might just all be like that, mine is also. My wife and little girl met me on the road the other day and swore it wasn't me, because it was a short guy(I'm 6'3"). I've thought of taking mine out and checking the springs. I'm sure an uhpolstry shop can put heavier springs in it, but maybe too expensive. Bucket conversion might be a better alternative, but I want to keep the bench in the 2wd, to seat 3 in a pinch.

Hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy mine! I've got to remember to aim my headlights also, I never think about it until driving after dark.

Nor am I. I've heard a few people talk about how rare they were, and I've heard a few express an interest in a deisel.

Great find. It's so much fun getting a good find at the pull a part. I used to make $600 to $800 a year on e-bay finding skids, towhooks, etc. I think they got smart, it dryed up. -
Glad there was a happy ending. $200 seems pretty good for having a shop do anything, however the pumps are easy to get to in a Comanche.
-
I searched that site before, and always popped up Commanders. I saw a 92 Comanche on some site(can't remember which one) the other day and the people were claiming it as being one of 2 in the country. :D It's fun shopping for Comanches.

Really nice job.

We have a few of them guys around here.

Won't work. The frame rails are welded to the bed, if you can't get the bolt out of the skid, it will have to come also, including the tank. Tanks on and everything working, thankfully.
