Well yeah, but why would you.

I found a new one luckily. here's the deal-I've had this truck over a year now. The rubber was sticking out evenly about 1/4 inch ever since I've owned it. I just assumed it was supposed to be like that, even thought about trimming it off. Now it came out far enough to hit the fan. I found a new one and planned to put it on tonight, but I think I'll park it and wait. Don't want to trash anything else, or somebody :D . Now the rant-If it doesn't warm the heck(edit, sorry) up, I'm moving back to Florida.

It's the harmonic balancer. It came out some more and I can see it hitting the fan. I'm off to get one. Will this be a cataclysmic failure if it comes all the way apart? How much time will I have? Don't want to hurt anyone. Thanks guys!

I planning to do this ASAP, and eliminate the drive accesories, and take it from there. Spent the day at the pull a part. Found a Comanche, but not one with a D44. Got some nit picking parts, however.

Looks like the PO installed a new fan clutch, doesn't mean it's good. The sound I'm getting just doesn't suggest the timing chain. The last one I ran into didn't really make noise, but wore the hole in the cover. I'm going to tear into it this weekend and figure it out.
-
Suspect mine is toast. Well, with 250,000, guess thats ok. Anyway, I have a new noise. Sounds exactly like a wire tie or wire hitting the fan blade. Doesn't sound like a mechanical tick like a lifter type noise, etc. I tried to find it with the screwdriver to the ear method. Can't really pinpoint it. Not the a/c, not the waterpump, but its right behind the grill in the very front of the motor. The timing chain came to me in a vision during my sleep. Only reason I'm asking is on another forum, a person just changed his and the noise he described is a ticking like a lifter. Anybody havce any experience with this? I'm proceeding to gather everything to do the job unless I get anymore ideas. I'll have to tear it down anyway to find any evidence. Thanks.

'Nother good suggestion. Couple of things I can try when it warms up.
-
Thats a good simple idea. I replaced the one on the 2wd and got 2 extras at the pull a part, so I'll try that first. That could be dropping the voltage.
-
Yes, works on the 2wd, Need it on the 4wd, it's usually covered in mud.
-
The switch is sending power, but not enough to operate the pump, but I didn't check the voltage with a volt meter, I just checked it with a test light. Something is cutting down the voltage. I am beginning to think I need to replace the multi-function switch on the column.

I really need to get the w/w working in my 4x4. I've been too lazy to try to figure it out. Thought I'd ask for ideas. History: didn't work when I bought the truck. Bought a universal unit, that wouldn't work. If you jump either unit straight to battery, they both work. So, for some reason, I'm not getting enough voltage through the hot wire. Never run into anything like this before. Anybody have an idea what could be cutting down the voltage or have any suggestions for a new source of power? Other than an add on switch. TIA

Just the 9 or 10 inch rubber ant that comes with it. The box is here at work in my locker(?) don't know where the radio's at. Seriously, it's a waste of time and money. I bought a Cobra 19.

I've got that very same model. (75-785) Very limited range. I had trouble even as little as 100 yards or so in the woods.

Replacing the Interior Lights -- (How I did it)
KYMJ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Nice. -
Replace the socket and it will be fixed. Happened on both mine.

I gathered the stuff to do this but never aquired a console. I came up with 2 types of mechanisms. From the looks of it, it would be an easy fab job. Just extend the metal rod to the splitter (I'm assuming your're calling the piece that the rear cables hook to is the splitter) Image Not Found

Yeah, I like that story. Thats another reason it's fun being a fan of these trucks. Talking to people who have one that don't know what there talking about. He didn't think it was worth much, then the other end of the spectrum found this truck 50 miles from me, a $500 truck at best: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchres ... ywordsfyc=

Front? Rear? I bought a front one at O'Reilly's for $13

Quick (extremely noobie) question regarding oil changes
KYMJ replied to strubbe's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yepper, twist off cap on valve cover. Need a pic, I'll get you one asap. Only dumb question is the one you don't ask, or something like that. -
No payments, cheap insurance, good on gas, fun for me, whats not to like?
-
I just removed the unit. It's located on the kick panel under the dash-the box with all the gears in it.
-
Yeah, its the latches. They didn't work well when I bought it. So I used WD40. They froze up. So I tried some Teflon spray, still froze. While it was warm, I tried cleaning the gunk out with Carb cleaner and I bought some dry graphite thinking it wouldn't freeze. Well they froze again today. I've replaced the wipers, but we,ve had buckets of rain. I just won't lock the doors during this cold spell and see what happens. Maybe replace the latches later if I can still get them.
-
What do you recommend for lubing the doorlocks? Everytime it gets below freezing, I have to climb in the window. I tried a Teflon lube, didn't work. then, I cleaned what I could and used a graphite lube, no luck this morning, actually worse. I'm starting to get pissed. Prob no lube is best, but I can't get the old cleaned out. Reckon I 'll have to get new door latches. Good thing I don't live further north.lol

No name yet....but it's coming... (Edit: The Cheif)
KYMJ replied to ChiefJosh's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Always loved the look of the Comanche Chiefs, nice find. -
Not partial to the light blue one, really like the dark one, and it certainly looks better than when I first got it. I wouldn't turn down a good Comanche for the color. If I paint the 4x4, I leaning toward the color of my ZJ, I think it would look terrific...
