I like the CVT myself, won't hardly ride my Honda because I have to shift it. I can see going with 750cc's however. I believe the Eiger is no longer being made. I paid $3000 for this one after a tornado ravaged the dealer a 1/4 mile from my house. Came complete with an inch long tear on the seat(the only damage) and broken glass. That was a good reason to choose the Eiger to me. Could have bought a King Quad for a little more, but some more expensive damage. This is all I need for what I use it for. The day I brought it home.

Blasted Height Sensing Valve
KYMJ replied to ParadiseMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22773&hilit=plugging+load+sensing+valve Eagles last post here describes the procedure. Pretty simple. I chose another route, but more complicated. I wanted to save my valve, but it was "blown" and useless. -
I just found it also and posted it in the e-bay For Sale section. Think I'll take out a second mortgage and buy it. :shake: It's discounted to $15k on e-bay. :D Mods delete my other post if needed.

Reckon I'll have to pass unless he has $11k or 12k wiggle room, even tho it's close to home. :ack: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-Jee ... 2eae6372b2

Had every other kind of JEEP, decided I needed one. Now I'm down to the one JEEP, my 2wd.

I like them. :needpics:

No excitement here. I have 2 within a mile from me. A ragged out Sporttruck thats DD'd like mine and a 1990 Eliminator 4x4 with 37k original miles, original owner with a salvage title, no longer licsensed, just used as a farm mule. I tried to buy it a couple of years ago, he wanted $4000 :ack: .

Every time I see a window sticker, I'm reminded of why I didn't buy a Comanche when new. Seems like they were kind of high compared to the trucks I bought back then. But, I wish I knew what I knew now.

My memory just kicked in: IIRC there may be a cable clamp, holding the cable, held in with a screw somewhere under the carpet that will not allow the above procedure. Which means seat and at least partial carpet removal.
-
I replaced mine while I had the seat and carpet out. You might be able to do it with out all that. I would try, however, you will have to access the place where it exits the cab behind or under the seat. When you get that clip loose, you might be able to "pull" the new cable with the old cable under the carpet as you remove the old by duct taping them together. I've "fished" things like that before. Just removing the seat would be the easiest solution.

I bought some electronics spray cleaner. Don't know that brake cleaner wouldn't work just as well. Something that evaporates and doesn't leave a residue.
-
Just took mine apart and cleaned it. There is 2 screws and 2 clips to release the halves. This won't allow you to take it off, but you will be able to see the back side and clean it.

I sold my 4x4 to A-man930 in St. Peters. He's done a lot of work to it, possibly painted it. Wish I had it back. Shoot him a pm.

Pull the IAC and clean it with Carb cleaner first.

Yes, my new pump was shorter. Unfortunately, my memory is not working and I can provide no details, other than I was able to get it to work. Good luck.
-
I needed my truck running QUICK when mine when out. OEM one was on backorder, so I got one from Advance Auto. I had to modify the metal end plate somewhat. The pump worked fine, however. Is that the kind of problem you're having?

This will just be a start as I'm on my way out the door. These are the some of the things that both 89 and 90 needed: Exhaust manifolds were cracked. Blinker and lighting snafu's. Brakes. New vacuum lines. Radio Speakers. General cleaning and scrubbing. I'm a firm believer in regular tranny fluid and filter changes. Pulled both mine in the garage, tore them apart, took one thing at a time. Nothing really major. I've put 70k on my 2wd since it became my DD.

97 XJ Front End Conversion Pics
KYMJ replied to comanche09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Gosh almighty, it's just stunning. I want to do this so bad and sink some coin into mine, new motor and 4x4 conversion. I desparately need a new vehicle, but I'd rather have this. -
'88 MJ w/ 4.0L 5spd idling problem
KYMJ replied to JDub's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Who has them(I haven't really looked yet)? I'm having the same problem accasionally and plan to replace it. I've cleaned it several times over the past few years. -
I grew up an Air Force brat. I've seen every plane the Thunderbirds have performed with since the F100, with the F4's being the favorites. I catch the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds at least once a year where I can. The Navy puts on a slightly better show(my father would turn in his grave from that remark). Thanks for the pics.

I missed the 4L the first time. However, I did have a 96 4.0 w/249(next generation,96-98) and I prefer the 242.
-
I suspect an undesirable 249 transfer case(to me anyway) make sure you check it out, by checking for binding while doing a figure 8. Check for heater core leaking, you don't want to remove the dash to fix that. All can think of right now.
-
I plan on an adjustable prop valve. However, the only time I've notice any problem is on a wet road. I was really surprised by that, so I might not add it. And I'm REALLY watching my tailgating. I'm really gun-shy after blowing a brakeline in a panic stop. Sure glad I fixed my emergency brake earlier this year.
-
I just removed mine. It won't be hard to find the procedure. In a nutshell: I ran a new line to the flexline from the front port of the distribution valve and plugged the bottom front port.
